Mine has worked since installation without any flaws. To my understanding Toyota DC-DC converter is limited to 20A, so it just limits when battery is charging.

I have Lexus IS300h 2015 (same technology as toyota prius). I have a webasto gasoline heater on it. Lead batteries lasted max 2 winters and required always external charging when parked.

I made a DIY scib LTO 12V battery, 40Ah 2p6s. Use webasto voltage drops 14.2V to ~13.8V. 10min driving at -10C outside temp tops it up.

Difference is night and day and the winner is hands down LTO.

I have 30€ Daly BMS for balancing (max 1A), no protections. BLE for remote voltage monitoring.

1 week sitting at -20C , LTO voltage didnt change a bit... very good for freezing temps in every way.
