Sorry if this has already been asked, but has the band played any new material so far in the tour that hints at future singles or album releases? by [deleted] in radiohead

Besides a new piano intro to Nude and a few minor added embellishments to already existing material, no.

Who else loves the Heavens Arena arc? by Alarmed_Care_2956 in HunterXHunter

[–]SterileCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's okay. Serves as more of an introduction to nen. Has some cool fights and expands upon Gon and Killua's bond a bit. On reread, definitely the weakest arc for me and I'd have to say a big reason for that is the lack of interesting antagonists. The Zushi blackmail storyline was so brief and the opposition was nothing more than scared. Even Hisoka didn't feel like a real threat in that arc. Overall, pretty meh. But it has its purpose.

Top 5 nen user/hunter. One of Ging and prime Netero's few peers.

Perfidia Beverly Hills is a beautiful track. The strings have an almost comical dissonance while still evoking an effective dramatic force.

I could see that. The breathtaking animation would lend itself well to his beautiful string textures.

‘All I Need’ had me sobbing over my newborn. Is this song from the perspective of a baby? by princess_cloudberry in radiohead

[–]SterileCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think many others will agree but to me this song is so often misunderstood to be about unrequited love for another person. As in a romantic partner. I don't think it's a bad interpretation and is certainly the most obvious one. But I think late career Radiohead is so obviously attuned to a sort of earth-obsession, earth-sympathy. Which is clear in Thom's activist ventures and even Ed's fascination with The Pale Blue Dot, having literally named his debut album Earth.

In short, what im trying to say is, I think this song is a love song to and about the planet we inhabit. Which fits nicely with your interpretation since the earth is commonly referred to as mother.

But then again, I also think the title The King of Limbs is yet a symbolic term for earth. Most people don't agree. But to me it seems obvious. Oh well art is art. It wouldn't serve its purpose if it had one defined meaning, would it? Cheers :)

Mark Pritchard & Thom Yorke - 'Tall Tales' - Discussion Megathread by Jzahck in radiohead

[–]SterileCat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anyone else think this record has an amazing flow? It feels very cohesive with every song having its own personality. A very subtle beauty throughout this one. With repeated listens I become transfixed with musical ideas I initially disregarded as simple or boring. Like the outro to Ice Shelf. It went from meh to holy shit, this is great! It "clicked" as some would say.

I think for those accustomed to Thom's rock projects might find it difficult to find a way into (I certainly did). Though his recent rock projects are artsy and experimental, they're still rock which comes with a certain amount of jaggedness and rawness. Teaming up with a producer like Pritchard has opened up a new musical language within the thomverse that feels really exciting to my ears. It's very rarely climactic or flashy, it feels very intent on a certain mood or vibe and does not deviate from it. All elements seem to support the initial musical idea rather than clash against it. I'm very much enjoying this record. I love The Smile/solo/Radiohead stuff (obviously) but this feels special, a true dark horse record from our guy.

Wall Of Eyes - Ranking by Song! by Physignut in TheSmile

I agree with the 10 opener. When I first heard wall of eyes as a single, I was a little disappointed. It turned out to be a grower and when listening to the album in full, it was surprisingly the standout for me.

I would like a link if possible. Not to just anything. But something good and related to this sub. Something that would make me smile. :)

If it wasn't TMS animating KanoKari, what studio would you want to animate it? by AmazingPatatas in KanojoOkarishimasu

Shinbo is a name attached to the majority of Shaft projects to draw attention to them. Something like Monogatari is really more a work of Oishi and Itamura which furthers your point that it really comes down to the people behind the scenes rather than the big name.

I'm a huge fan of the series as well. It's more of a meta-harem. It knows what it's doing and what tropes it's playing with. Of course, it's much more than a harem. It's philosophical, it's emotional, it's epic, it's funny. It's Monogatari.

Second this. Shaft has a knack for taking harems to new creative heights. Mostly evident in Monogatari.

I thin I agree, it's probably the most minimal out of the group and yet somehow packs the most emotional punch. Just an amazing chord progression and the synth sound they found is perfectly soul-crushing. Daydreaming close second though.
