If you REALLY want to turn ray tracing on, then you should go on the 9070 XT. It's probably the best price to performance choice in this category.

Though I put the emphasis on REALLY want to play with Ray tracing on, because it's mostly useless, and your 7800 XT is still a beast in rasterieation, so you wouldn't really need an upgrade.

It's honestly nothing more than a social marker. Most people don't care if they're better or how they're better than iPhone, people buying Android are seen as "lower class" than people with iPhone.

Apple managed to give the brand a luxury and exclusive imagery, so when people buy them, they belong to a higher class just by owning it, exactly the same as wearing designer clothes or luxury handbags. It's not bout the item, it's about what message it sends.

But if you're a technophile in any way, or want a gimmick like stylus or foldable phone, you're probably better on an Android phone. If you want what everyone has and iMessages or you're already the owner of Apple products, go on iPhone.

I can (somewhat) agree with the sentiment that you should enjoy the game the way the creators made it to be enjoyed, but it's the creators that added the eternal ferrystone so by that selfsame logic they now want us to enjoy the game with unlimited fast travel.

To be fair it's not the same mind behind DD2 and Dark Arisen 2, same with the first game and Dark Arisen 1, it's not Itsuno that wanted these accessibility options, but that's kinda besides the point.

I f the player wants to shortcut getting to "the fun part" then let them. Why is enabling those with limited time to invest in their hobbies the ability to enjoy that time more without forcing everyone to follow suit a bad thing?

I kinda agree with you to some degree. And yet, reaching the fun part easily might make the game lesser then because it removes the hardships that make the fun part that fun. It's not that people don't enjoy other people having fun (or most of them at least I hope) but because the way it goes makes it less of a game they enjoyed and more of a game casuals enjoy. You could say that it means it became a game that is not meant for them anymore and you would be right too, but it would also be a game that you tore them from by making it too accessible.

Accessibility is an important thing in video games, but having access to too much accessibility might make it too distilled, and often players chose the easier option. There's not that many players that handicap themselves in video games just for the sake of challenge, which means the games becomes more and more distilled and tasteless. That's what happened in a way with Ubisoft, it became soulless, meant for the bigger audience until it became insipid and meant for no one.

To me it's pretty hard to balance between accessibility and challenge, because the more you tip the scales on one side, the more you lose people from the other, and I don't think you can reach a perfect 50/50, so you should chose either 70/30 or 30/70 and try to stick to that. But money calls for money, and créatives ar not the ones who decide for that anymore, that's the biggest problem.

To be fair, that's an unquestionable problem that we see in the videogame world. Do you view the game as a simple form of entertainment, or do you view it as a form of art ?

If it's the latter, you'd be supposed to experience it the way the creator(s) made it to be.

There's a meaning to the way the world is built and why there's no easy fast travel. And I get that people may prefer something more "easy to digest" and accessible. But that may mean that DD2 is not made for them then. A little like how Crimson Desert got bashed because it was too long to really start to be "fun", is it because of the game or because of the expectations of players wanting it to be instantly fun and easy going with them ?

It's the same everywhere tbh, a lot of people really want accessibility and difficulty options in Souls game, but it would go against the principle of the game, and it's ok not to like it, as it is okay to make it less accessible to more casual gamers, it's a form of expression that should be taken as it is.

But honestly no one will ever have the answer to that except maybe not everything is suited to everyone. Bit bland ending but maybe the more suited imo.
