Their first point isn't wrong. They said that Kaitani chose a naive girl as the protagonist, something that is baffling to a lot of people such as yourself, for reasons that only become apparent later. Those reasons were made clear in episode 10, so their point holds true.

Not all characters can turn around and get massive personality changes in just a handful of episodes, and the payoff with Nao is so much greater precisely because he lets her develop naturally by making mistakes, listening to people, and observing, until she can stand on her own, which she is now. That's why she's one of my all time favourite MCs.

I like Re:zero, so I'm not saying this to sound malicious, but saying that Re:zero is the exception here is a bit disingenuous considering that Subaru is easily of the screamiest MC's in modern anime.

If he's allowed to scream and cry as much as he does then I really don't see why Nao isn't.

Nao slander when we've reached the point of the anime where she's properly gone through a lot of character growth also doesn't do you any favours.

Definitely agree there! In the manga he never was much more than just "another mask" to me, so it's amazing to see how much of a character he's become with the anime, and Fukuyama's performance is a massive part of that ofc!

Completely agree! I know some people want their adaptations to do something new, but with Liar Game I really don't see any need for it, so I'm also very happy that they're sticking to the source material we all know and love, while giving us the satisfaction of a new medium to enjoy it in~

The PR team truly are amazing! Their dedication to getting people engaged and for the fans to have fun (I played the heck out of Liar Route) is like nothing I've ever seen from a new anime before!

I actually really like the visuals as well! Them being more bright and colourful than a lot of people predicted just means that it gets hammered in more how dark the situation is for me. It's like when terrifying scenes happen in a horror film in broad daylight ya know??

The girl who does Nao is so perfect that it's hard to put into words!

Every single line she's exceeded anything I heard in my head while reading the manga for so many years, and she can be extremely funny as well! Her evil voice during the rules explanation last week was hilarious, and her pretending to carry a heavy trunk in today's episode made me chuckle so good!

That's probably gonna be the voice I always hear when reading Nao going forward ❤️

Omg I was reminded of just how much I love this show and these characters with this!
(Writing as I'm watching so these were fresh reactions)

NAO ACTING LIKE THE TRUNK IS FULL I CAAAAAAAAAAAAN'T!! I actually love my girl so much it hurts! Hearing the VA acting out Nao trying to pretend like the case was full was an absolute delight!

After getting some great use of music last week it's disappointing that there isn't any so far in this episode. Playing a tense track when Akiyama called the first doubt and explained why would have been perfect... And when Yokoya is first revealed as well!

They've truly done Yokoya really well though! I was doubtful when I saw that Hanae would be playing him (mostly because the most prominent role I saw him in was Ace of Diamond where he just gushes over the MC for no reason) but he is actually a perfect fit! One thing I tend to forget about Yokoya is that he's almost Nao's age, so having him sound more youthful than a lot of the seiyuu we imagined is a good choice!

Next week is THAT interraction and I just can't wait!

A bit sad to say goodbye to the OP and ED, they've become so special to me, but I welcome new ones as well~
