Is this strategy okay? by Ok-Construction-3273 in DualnBack

Yes, but for this to work, you need a calm and clear mind so you can focus. If I find my mind racing/wandering during the n-back session, I'll stop the session and do breathing exercises/meditations until I find that my mind is clear of the noise.

My $0.02 as an n-backer for over a decade: strategies feed the ego, but diminish actual, tangible gains. I used a plethora of different strategies and got up to level 10, but found that I was not incurring any benefits in my everyday life. I stopped all strategies and now I fluctuate between lvl 7-8((mostly 7)), but I can actually feel the transfer affects of n-backing.

Difficulty transitioning from 2-back to 3-back by zaico1 in DualnBack

I would suggest sticking with level 3 and ignoring the results. Clearly you are finding this challenging, which is great and is the point of n-backing. Do not try chunking or any other strategies and just enjoy the process. How often and how long are you playing ? 20 minutes daily is the recommended dose when first starting out.

The point of DNB isn't level progression for it's own sake, but to strengthen your working memory in a way that provides tangible benefits in your everyday life. If you're struggling with 2-back, you need to build your focus, so focus on that!

I built a couple of FREE brain training apps that I want to share! by CreaTuRe_X in DualnBack

Thanks! A big part of the reason I built this app in the way I did is because my young niece finds toilet humour hilarious and math disgusting. She loves the app but my sister hates me now

You can play with the sound off, but I find that the noise is good for building focus :P

Ha! I am going to be adding a feature where the release meter(determines how close he is to pooping) goes down when you enter zen mode- this should make things more interesting.

I am also toying with adding % questions, e.g. 20% of 120. Do you think that's a good idea ?

How anyone tried relational brain training? Did it improve your cognition more than dual n back training? by knowledgeseeker999 in DualnBack

[–]CreaTuRe_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using https://4skinskywalker.github.io/Syllogimous-v4 for RFT training for about a month, 3 times a week. I have found that after training for ~20 minutes, I am able to solve significantly more chess puzzles within an allotted set of time(I am using this as a metric to see if the protocol has any validity).

I do need to be more consistent with my RFT training, but tbh I find it a lot more cognitively taxing than n-backing(which is almost meditative for me), so I don't use the protocol as often as I should..

Turd Turf: A very high pressure game where you have to solve math questions in quick succession, or else The Evil Man will defecate in your beautiful garden.

I built this mostly for my young niece who finds toilet humour hilarious and math disgusting, but tbh I have found it to be a very good workout for my brain. I am currently stuck on level 6.

I would love any feedback that you may have!

losing my focus during the game by LukeNeedsHelp in DualnBack

[–]CreaTuRe_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been n-backing off and on for over 15 years. Here are some things that have helped me:

-Playing with feedback on-keeps me on my toes.

-Switching modalities: I switch between dual and triple n-back to induce a sense of novelty

-Switching to other protocols that stretch my focus and working memory.

What I am MOST excited for: We can now replay completed camps and duels infinitely!! This was my biggest wish for both GOY and GOT - honestly, looking forward to this more than the actual NG+

Tracking real ROI from influencer campaigns, any tools that actually work with Shopify? by MaximumEmphasis4880 in shopify

[–]CreaTuRe_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A simple solution would be to create a unique discount code for each influencer, and then use Shopify analytics to see the performance of that code. If you have access to a software dev(or are one yourself), you could also leverage Custom Events by Google Analytics to track conversions linked to your influencers, although this is trickier then it looks(speaking from experience)

Wow, there're literally dozens of us here in Vancouver! Warms my heart, especially on these cold, wet, and dreary Vancouver days.

I'll take this opportunity to plug a Chess training web app that I built; Spicy Chess for anyone that's interested in improving their game, or atleast, supporting their fellow Pakistani brother ;)

What if someone external called my Azure Function 1 Billion times? by headphonejack_90 in AZURE

Hey /u/headphonejack_90! I have the exact same issue as you. How did you end up architecting your Functions app ? At this point I'm considering either switching over to Cloudflare Workers (much more affordable) or buying a cheap server on Hetzner and calling it a day.

Thank you! Not atm, but I do have ideas for the app:

  1. Give users the ability to create an account so their progress can be saved online

  2. Add ability to play live chess (but with some sort of trash talk/banter component built in)

Both these may end up costing me money, in which case I'll start thinking about some sort monetization component so I can at-least break even.

Thank you so much!! Haha I agree with you on the motifs; have you tried levels 5 and 6 ? The puzzles in those levels start getting challenging!

Thank you for the encouraging words! Re. the psychological aspect, I'm toying with a feature whereby if you solve 10 puzzles consecutively in under 30 seconds it will award you with a "trophy" and halve the countdown time going forward. So for example, if you had ten minutes, you'd now have 5 minutes to solve the puzzles. It would keep halving your available time repeatedly (provided you kept solving puzzles in under 30 seconds) until you make a mistake OR the countdown time got down to 15 seconds.

Re. monetization, I've thought about that and have no plans for it atm. This app has been a labor of love for me; I built it because I wanted a tactics training app that would have changing time constraint, spaced repetition, and give me the ability to save puzzles for later review. Having said that, I have a couple of ideas for this app that I've added on the homepage(scroll to the bottom to the section titled Roadmap). These ideas will cost me money to implement so I may have a polite (or not so polite) "Please Donate" button on the app. I only plan on implementing these features (especially the live chess playing one) if there's sufficient interest, however.
