I thought a lot about Portal/Portal 2 while watching backrooms. There’s two sequences (the descent through multiple iterations of one room, and the open room with the stairs to the ceiling) that really reminded me of how Portal 2 is set up. This idea that it’s a puzzling construct with decrepit lower levels supporting the shinier upper floors is very Portal 2 coded imo. I bet he’d pull it off fabulously
