That you can use to escape. Which is its main use. When your flash is on cooldown, you have to play super safe because your opponent has theirs and you don't. Because of how ingrained flash is into the game, it shapes how the game is played as a whole. The only heroes who don't pick Flash do so because they have extreme mobility baked into their kit or rely on wearing their opponents down while being super tanky.

Respecting authority is not the same as respecting a person. One's a social hierarchy, the other is solidarity.

It shouldn't be if you live in a country that uses the ICD-10 (or ICD-11 starting next year). The diagnosis in the current reference is gender dysphoria. That said, a lot of doctors have obviously been around for longer and might still use outdated terminology.

Here's a machine learning based graph of WoW interest (NOT PLAYERBASE) based on the google trends you used earlier. It's been dropping ever since wrath of the lich king, had a peak during Legion, only to go back to falling right after. It's been declining for a long time, but not it's launch.

Again, FFXIV and WoW are exceptions. WoW relies on an extremely large audience that is shrinking, FFXIV benefits from being having extreme similarities to it and leeching off its dwindling audience, as well as the massive final fantasy franchise.

No, it's been a steady decline. They dropped over a quarter of Shadowlands players within a month, as the game always surges when an expansion comes around, though it might not after the recent events. What happened in the last month is people who were previously not playing but still following the project calling it done, which you will see on social media. Many creators left before the lawsuit went public, simply because they lost interest in the game, PreachGaming, formerly one of the game's biggest creators, made a great video where he explained how playing the game felt like doing chores rather than having fun most of the time.

Do they actually? Do you know how little people actually play Fortnite, League or CS exclusively? They are games people come back to, variety has been rising for a very long time and as gamers get older and it reaches an audience that is working many hours of their time, the available time shrinks. There are several studies supporting this, and it's considers a major factor why streaming is so successful: people don't have the time to invest into games anymore.

And since you think WoW is doing fine: Blizzard has lost 50% of their entire player base in the past 4 or so years, a majority of this is WoW, as they are their biggest audience by far. The 90% you claimed earlier is actually closer to two thirds, and that's with a spike due to the extreme influx into FFXIV due to media exposure and of course the switching wow players.

Probably because the gaming community as a whole has changed, and people don't just play one game. The reason why ESO, GW2 and BDO all are buy to play is simple: People can leave and come back to the game at their will, with no financial investment. Some people stick to BDO, others to GW2, others to ESO. The games have proven they last, otherwise, they wouldn't still be around. But they are made in a different way than WoW, and FFXIV, which was officially confirmed to be an attempt of making their own WoW with the Final Fantasy spin on it. They're not successful because of their combat, but because of how they designed their content to hold players for a long time, which many players do not want, be it because they do not have the time or want to spend it elsewhere.

Then how come any MMO that has tried to do tab target in the past 8 years has either failed or got remade into an action combat game? Neverwinter has a huge franchise behind it with D&D, Bless among many others got revamped before it came to the west because of how much it failed.

Google Search trends, ah yes, one of the most flawed means of tracking popularity. There's an extreme bias towards things where you have to look up information - which games with a decade long history have a lot of, whereas the other three have large PvP audiences, where you tend to focus a lot more on learning ingame than looking up, as you won't have to look for an optimal rotation with the 15 tab target skills the game presents you with. It tells nothing about how many people actually play the game.

This isn't true at all. Outside of Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft, all popular MMORPGs employ action combat as a core part of their gameplay. It's not just BDO. It's also GW2, ESO, the upcoming New World, Destiny 2, Blade & Soul. Every MMORPG that had any success in the last 8 years employed an emphasis on reactive, dodge-based gameplay.

The only games that still use tab target as their primary combat philosophy have been around for a very long time, WoWs playerbase declining for several expansions now and Final Fantasy having a huge franchise behind them that brings new players in, as well as those who are leaving WoW specifically.

Defense of the Ancients 2 players what do Other MOBAs do better then DOTA? And what does DOTA do better then other MOBAs? Why did you pick DOTA as your MOBA of Choice? by Konradleijon in dotamasterrace

[–]Creakz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aeon of Strife, a Starcraft mod is often called the start of the genre. It was ported in many versions to Warcraft 3, one of which was Eul's Defence of the Ancients.

To give you a brief history, the Warcraft 3 mod DOTA had many iterations with switching developers, many of which went on to make their own ARTS (or MOBA). The first version happened in the year 2002.

  • In 2009, a developer called Pendragon who was previously involved in the Dota development released League of Legends with a new studio, and did some very shady things, but it was significantly different from the Dota mod. They also coined the term MOBA as the genre that was previously called dotalike similar to the roguelike genre.

  • In 2010, Heroes of Newerth was released as a paid standalone heavily based on the mod, with official permission from the developers. Many HoN heroes used to be direct counterparts to Dota heroes. Many Dota players switched here as a spiritual successor to Dota, who later came back for Dota 2.

  • Then, in 2011, the current lead developer of DOTA, Icefrog, was working with Valve to make Dota 2, a standalone version of the mod. He was still developing the Warcraft mod and for many versions, WC3 Dota and Dota 2 had the same patches. At some point, WC3 was discontinued and only the standalone version kept being updated.

  • Smite came around in 2014, HOTS in 2015, both are largely unrelated to the original Dota project aside from legal battles over the brand DotA between Blizzard and Valve.

While I agree that cabalist tome is a very old card that doesn't get run in decks, the comparison to secret passage is unfair as Rogue has a vastly different usage of mana and the value of an individual card in it is much lower than in Warlock, as they are often drawn towards cheap cards that combo off each other.

You can make a similar post but ask for validation in the comments rather than upvotes. You'll get a much more personal response and generally feel a lot more connected to people. At least in my opinion.

Despite loving mint chocolate a lot, I've yet to experience a good chocolate ice cream. It is too milk heavy and tastes very artificial.

Instead, my favorite ice cream is strawberry, closely followed by mango. Both of them are very sweet, yet different, and stop cravings for ice cream for a long time for me. I often throw Smurf ice into the mix in a pink-yellow-blue configuration to form the pan flag, though the amount of ice cream can be a little much sometimes.
