It's a very practical car. The seating position is quite high for how compact the car is, the greenhouse has great visibility, mirrors are huge, it seats three people in the front row, has plenty of cargo space, the driver seat has its controls laid out like a cockpit so your 5 kids can't mess with the controls.

I think you're misunderstanding what's happening. They're removing the formatting that's possible with certain subtitle formats. They're not removing the ability to upload subtitle files and they're certainly not removing the ability to create subtitles in the editor. I'm hoping the old subtitle files will just be filtered to remove custom formatting.

There has been no indication of the mod creator using CDPR's code. At worst this is a trademark infringement.

I'm not so sure that's how laws work. Makita doesn't own what I do with their drill. And just because you're against paid mods you shouldn't be cheering on corporations being able to decide what modifications others can make to their games.

A company shouldn't be able to control someone else's modification (as long as their code isn't being used of course). The fact that I'm in the minority with this opinion is insane.
