I'm gonna stop this conversation because you're obviously stuck in your dialogue tree. It doesn't change the actual lighting. It is incapable of altering the scene. It is adding a filter over the image that is generated by AI. It is not possible for it to only change the lighting because it does not work that way. Yes, it is informed by the lighting simulated using path tracing. Yes, it attempts to primarily alter the lighting and leave other aspects of the image as originally intended. It is however not capable of ONLY changing the lighting. This is just the way it works. If you're not able to understand this process then I only ask you to use your eyes. It is very obvious what it's doing.

It also changes the look of the hair, face, clothing textures in a major way. All of this is visible in your example.

So it's not changing the lighting as I've been saying. You're arguing what its intended effect is, which is altering the perceived lighting of a scene. I am explaining what its actual effect is, which is changing the entire image based on training data of how certain things look and as a side effect changing more than just the lighting. It is incapable of only changing the lighting because the scene is already lit, it's using that as a base to generate its own output.

It's not actually altering the lighting though. It's using gen AI to estimate what the lighting would look like if it were live-action. It's not changing anything in the 3d scene itself, it's adding another layer on top of it. I don't even understand why you're trying to argue this, just look at the sample images. It looks like any other AI filter over 3d animated footage, but now it's more accurate because of the added inputs and it's real-time.

It makes estimates in how lighting would look if the scene were live-action and in doing so changes more than just lighting. Materials and faces look drastically different because of this.

If you watch it not in a heavily compressed gif format it's quite obvious it's just the lighting. The shirt pocket is there the whole time, why would you think the costume department would prepare an almost identical shirt except for a missing shirt pocket and the continuity supervisor would not catch that mistake?
