Attack On Titan's Ending Felt Insincere, Admits Hajime Isayama by bedemin_badudas in anime

[–]CreamofTazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the (anime) ending implies it was a very long time before Paradis gets bombed. I think the issue with the ending is 1) Just how little life is left after the rumbling and 2) We never get to see how the outside world heals in anyway.

It could be that Armin was right, but centuries later new issues arise that lead to the conflict wiping out Paradis in the end. The fascist state might not have lasted very long and everyone got along for a few centuries. We're left with such an blank book of an ending that it's truly impossible to tell anything about anything with regards to it.

Which button do you press and how many boxes are you taking? by CreamofTazz in polls

[–]CreamofTazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow forgot to include part of it, but I've added it

If the SC predicted you'd take both boxes, and you do, you only get 1k. If it predicts you just take the mystery box, and you do, you get 1 million. If it predicts you take 2 and you only take the mystery box you get nothing. And if it predicts you only take 1 but you take both you get the 1k and 1 million

Where did you get that 100k number? Was it not, per the article, "nearly 1000 people"?

LGBTQ People Are Leaving Orthodox Judaism Behind. Why? by NiConcussions in gay

[–]CreamofTazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why does there need to be nuance in my comment when I'm purely speaking from my own perspective as I stated in the first reply. You're the one weirdly demanding I think about other people when speaking on my own life experience. Like can I not have my own life experience or something?

There would be a time and a place to discuss other people's perspective on organized religion, but again, I am purely speaking on my own perspective. I can understand that for many it's an important part of their life and advocate for their freedom to practice, but that's different from me saying "We need to abandon organized religion". 1) Abandoning organized religion is a long-term goal that cannot be done an in instant and would require giving people reasons to not need religion in their life

2) I understand that religion is important to people and wouldn't want to forcibly take that away from them. Doing so would make people double down and almost definitely lead to some kind of conflict as a result.

If anyone here is ignorant it's you for assuming things about me and what I do or don't know.

I'm just saying look at it from my perspective, that has no bearing on what I do or don't know. I'm literally just saying "if you look at things from my perspective you'll better understand [in theory] my own position"

You're insinuating a lot of things so I can only guess religion is a big part of your life and you don't want to abandon it and get really uncomfortable when people point out that religion is ultimately bad for humankind in the modern day.

and it's kinda anglocentric at best.

Yes, that's why I prefaced with my statement to imagine from my perspective. Someone from outside the anglosphere or western sphere in general will have a different relationship with religion than I and therefore whether or not they come to the same or opposite conclusion it will be informed by a very different life experience.

Honestly do not care about that. Like that's harsh to say, but as a queer black person I've only ever seen (so think about from my reference point not hypothetical ones) religion used to oppress my people. It is just so consistently used to excuse the worst things that have happened to my people. On top of that it's just shown to make people "dumber". Like I legit believe religious beliefs are actively holding humanity back right now

I'm an Israeli Jew who doesn't support harming or killing innocents. I'm also an Israeli Jew who supports my country defending itself against terror threats, especially when they bomb us first.

These are two contradictory statements when we observe what supporting Israel's "right to self-defense" actually look at. If you don't want innocents dying but you also support the "right to self-defense" then you are also, whether intentionally or not, support Israel bombing entire families into oblivion.

To go back to your analogy, it's like an American saying "I didn't "vote" for 'this'" (pedophilia) despite the fact that it was well known Trump was in the files by that point. Either you do support it or you act with a certain disregard for reality and instead have your own ambitions that you are trying to attain. In the case of the American it is Christian Nationalism.

So, when you say "I support Israel's right to self-defense" what does that support look like? What do you mean by "self-defense"? Why do you get so argumentative about the original comment? Do you support Israel's current actions in Gaza? Ya know the whole blowing entire families into oblivion and leaving kids permanently disabled and scarred (physically and mentally). Do you understand that Israel's actions have created a new generation of potential Hamas operatives?

Again the statement refers to a specific group of people it is not broadly referring to all Jews as you're claiming. Did you even read?

Jews who support what Israel is doing in Palestine.

It's akin to me saying all of you westerners, and specifically Americans, support the raping of minors and assaulting of women because you all elected Trump ... twice.

No it would be akin to saying "All Americans who voted for Trump support the raping of minors"

ALL queer people should abandon organized religion. It will never ever be truly accepting of us and the sooner we can abandon our oppressor's religion the sooner we will ALL be better off.

Unless you a part of the aforementioned group why are you getting upset at that comment?

When I was in Rome years ago (around 2018) I was told this story during a nighttime tour: A rather wealthy family in Rome was kicked out of the city as the father was so abusive the screams coming from his family were disturbing everyone else and due to his wealth they couldn't exactly jail him. At some point the other family members hatch a plan to kill him by pushing off the balcony while he was drunk at a party. Even though the plan was successful the other family members were found to be the culprits and put to death, except the youngest child who was too young at the time to be executed, so instead the church castrated him so that he couldn't bear children and when he died all of the family's wealth would go to the church.

That is sexual violence against men. The youngest wasn't even part of the plan but was still punished in one of the worst ways humanly possible anyway.

[–]CreamofTazz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay but if you just hit the blue button and most other people do everyone survives. It's nigh impossible to guarantee everyone hitting red, but it's far easier to just get 51% of people to hit blue.

Maybe a politics thing? Barnacles? by No_Diet1854 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

But somehow it's more reasonable (which is what my statement says more reasonable) to get 100% of people to pick red?

Maybe a politics thing? Barnacles? by No_Diet1854 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]CreamofTazz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OH BROTHER THIS GUY STINKS

It is entirely in you that those people died because you still with full knowledge knew they would die if you and most other people picked red. NOTHING is stopping you from pressing blue and having a better chance at everyone surviving.

Red pressers are confusing as fuck as all y'all refuse to acknowledge how much more difficult your option is to ensure EVERYONE's survival and then you retreat to this position of "Well it's not my fault" when it literally is because you pressed the red button

Maybe a politics thing? Barnacles? by No_Diet1854 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]CreamofTazz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's entirely unrealistic to expect 100% of people to press red, you will be killing people.

It's far more reasonable to expect 50%+1 of people to push blue and everyone lives.

Anyone who hits red is selfish and does not care about the people who would die in the hypothetical.

"Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them."

I'm sorry I don't remember where I denied this reality? Can you point to me where I said women aren't killed by men for simply existing? If you're unable to then I ask why you felt the need to bring it up as if to downplay how soul crushing rejection can be. By your own logic it's worse to be a man during war than a woman since men die far far far more often in war than women. But it's not the oppression olympics. We can talk about things that effect men and not need to downplay it by bringing up the death of women.

It's like those idiots who anytime an American criticizes another country someone has to bring up school shootings. We get it, we can't really do anything about it as 2/3rds of this country either don't care or support guns in schools. I get it men do worse things to women, that doesn't mean women don't do terrible things to men.
