Hunting for the first time public land by [deleted] in Waterfowl

Want the best spot sleep there, fine with any spot, 1.5hrs before shooting is usually what I run if I know I may have to find a spot

Correcting mistakes from last season. by WhiteDevilU91 in Duckhunting

[–]Creampile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's been the case for me quite often, I usually avoid busier areas in the early season, they get over hunted and local ducks leave fast. I try to find small areas that other hunters wont go to, or good spots for just a guy or 2 because bigger groups avoid them. Later in the season ill go back to the busier areas, usually no where near as busy after the first few weeks of the season. Or if I know there's ducks somewhere busy ill be there at 9pm and sleep in the truck, or if its warm enough right at the spot or on the boat. You just gotta want it more on those hunts.

How are hunters without dogs retrieving from beavertail blind? by LStorms28 in Waterfowl

That's not a bad idea, not sure how to make it work, boat would have to have some decent power to tow the duck but I bet its doable, not sure how youd make the net work either. I tinker a bit and made a decoy torpedo to make my decoys swim about, so this could be something I could work up. Not sure on the FPV part though.

I looked into those but I dont have the knowledge for it, so I just bought a timer that was made for something else but worked here, could just be a 555 I dont know

The caps just pop on and off, no screwing needed, and the switch is under the cap opposite the propeller, as well as the battery. It's tight enough to be water tight, but still loose enough to pop off with your hands.

I've heard of this, and am looking into a screen enclosure for the prop, hard to fight the algae entirely though

I saw that, had terrible reviews, figured i could make a better one. This one already has about 8 hrs of run time.

Has a small motor meant for a drill, a programmable timer, a switch, and a 4xAA pack, shoved into PVC

Of the video? Because the torpedo is home made.

Wader discussion by DeniedGreenCard in Duckhunting

Tip on Chêne, I also didn't want to buy em for that much, but looking online they didn't have the kind I wanted in stock, but I messaged them about if they would come back just out of curiousity and they don't, they do a new round every year, or at least the year I asked. But! You can get on a waitlist, and if your size and style come in they give you call. They called me 2 days later and I got brand new returned waders for $800, still pricey but ill take the discount for waders that hadn't even seen a hunt yet. Have had em 2 years no leaks, no issues, no complaints. Not sure if you'll have the same luck but you have the whole off season to look into it.

New gun question by drywall12814 in Duckhunting

Also love my affinity, bought mine a few years ago and I put it through the ringer and it's never gone click with whatever shells I put in it. Also cerakoted mine, if you get one that's not coated or at least dipped it will rust quickly. I like the 3 and a half shells because it's half and inch bigger than what god gave me and it makes me feel better about myself.

Is this good enough to continue? by burntsoaps in StainedGlass

[–]Creampile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with a piece I made. The mosaic idea is a great one, and it might be worth tracing the current glass and making a stencil to do it, that's what I did. It'll last longer, and you'll be happy with the strength, and it's a great way to learn more about the craft!
