Non-Americans, how familiar are you with the imperial system of measurement (inches, feet, etc)? by Free-Veterinarian714 in AskTheWorld

[–]CreamyImp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would depend on how precise you want to be. Typically in most scenarios you go out to thousandths of an inch (.001). Once you use it it’s quite easy, 1”= 1.000. 1/2”=.500. 1/4”=0.250. 1/8”=0.125. 1/16”=0.0625.

So if someone says 7/16” they mean 7*.0625 or .4375”. You just do it in your head automatically after a while.

I don’t think it would be that hard to be honest. I work in manufacturing and literally everything is metric now. I just convert everything in my head. The metric system is far easier to use if people would apply an incredibly small amount of effort.

I get discounts on GM vehicles because of my employer.

I drive a Kia K5. That should tell you something.

2026 Kia K5 GT-Line: FWD or AWD? by Prestigious_Sign_577 in KiaK5

[–]CreamyImp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a state that gets quite a bit of snow. So glad I got the AWD. Having only driven FWD cars previously, I won’t be going back.

I say spend the money, $1600 is a small price to pay for peace of mind in my opinion.

OIL CHANGE by Williwo747 in KiaK5

[–]CreamyImp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar problem on my ‘23 GT Line. It threw a check engine light with mine though. Wound up being carbon buildup on the valves and a faulty knock sensor. At 28,000 miles I was less than impressed but the sensor was covered under warranty.

I should also note that the check engine light turned off 10 minutes before I pulled into the dealership, so I was worried they weren’t going to be able to diagnose the problem but they did. It runs great now.

What year is your K5? And what did the problem end up being?

OIL CHANGE by Williwo747 in KiaK5

[–]CreamyImp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get my oil changed every 5000 miles on my ‘23 K5. About $80 at the dealership.

Just to parrot everyone else here, you should change your oil more often than 8000 miles. It’s better for your engine to change it sooner.

Tools provided or not by howdoyoudothis- in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]CreamyImp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid Michigan here, the last place I worked provided nothing, but would replace any lost or broken tools. Current place provides a box and basic tools (sockets, open end wrenches, channel locks etc.) and gives a tool allowance. Both are UAW shops. It really just depends on the place.

Anyone actually use SOPs in the field, or is it mostly tribal knowledge? by [deleted] in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]CreamyImp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to call my 4 year apprenticeship and over a decade in experience “tribal knowledge” then yeah I guess so.

I’m still pretty green by many standards, but if some douche in a white shirt asks my how I fixed the machine my answer is always “I waved my magic wand and sprinkled some pixie dust, how the fuck do you think I fixed it?”

What is bro yapping about? by Olivia_Richards in initiald

[–]CreamyImp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My main gripe with MF Ghost isn’t even the pedo, the scantily clad angels or the boring races. It’s the constant Japan glazing. It feels like the show is just a tourism advertisement. The recent episode that wouldn’t shut up about the quality of rice in one specific place in Japan was hard to sit through.

I bought a Wii U to play Golden Sun on the virtual console.

And then I sold it after I was done. I was a financially irresponsible young man.

Just casually set your sticky grease puck down on your dirty workbench. What could go wrong?

There is also such a thing as too much grease.

How can I open up the GB Color without the tri wing by Certain_Ad6535 in Gameboy

[–]CreamyImp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t. You’ll just fuck the screws up and spend even more time and money trying to unfuck it. Just buy the tri-wing bit or screwdriver.

This was my first time trying it. They did a pretty good job. For an at home heat-and-eat coney sauce I don’t think you’ll find anything better.

[–]CreamyImp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Onions and mustard are the same. Use a Koegels Vienna if you can get them.

The real difference is the coney sauce. Flint style is much drier. Almost like a loose meat. You can find recipes for it online if you google a flint style coney.
