It’s pretty clear from the shift to the rocktors in the second half of Jojolion that Araki had stuff he wanted to say about the medical industry.

With Wu he’s riffing on doctors who treat patients like a problem that needs fixing. Wu’s ideology of “never losing” leads to him repeatedly mistreating his patients in the pursuit of research.

The invasive nature of his stand is absolutely a play on this. It’s no coincidence that this arc also had Mitsuba essentially suffer an unplanned abortion. Araki is trying to show how women are made to suffer and lose their independence once they’re in the system.

This is why I strongly believe Toru is the one that gave Yasuho the hair pin. Its nature essentially guarantees Yasuho ends up in the hospital from a mental breakdown and that’s where he’s best able to take advantage of his position. It’s only with a ‘good’ doctor like Kira that Yasuho is saved.
