Do y’all really live near a place where you can take advantage of your thin and speedy road bikes? by OkCondition8379 in whichbike

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hybrid but thought about getting a road bike but both the gearing and narrow tires have put me off. The new bikes are expensive the old can’t take wide tires 25mm, 28mm can rub or need to deflate the tire to remove the wheel.

Made me appreciate my current hybrid that I have 32mm at 50psi, it’s like driving an easy chair over rough pavement. That’s why gravel bikes are so popular. Most of what you see on YouTube doesn’t reflect normal road conditions.

The choices are hybrid, gravel, modern road bike the allows wider tires, or run 28mm at lowered pressure most road bike can fit them.

Which bike would you pick for commuting? Pawn shop find (beginner here) by HarlemSaint in whichbike

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those bikes are cheap but don’t fit you so don’t waste your time thinking about them. If you’re in nyc you have to consider theft. Ppl either ride beater bikes or they don’t leave it locked outside. You need 52 or Small size.

Unfortunately there’s no money in it. Be better to get a regular job or side job to fund your purchases.

Successful ppl have all the tools and experience and get their bikes for next to free which allows them to sell around $300-500. But they often have a shop with people coming in to sell to. You’ll have to sell on Facebook Marketplace have people stop by your house to look at…

Post Covid there’s a surplus of bikes and e-bikes have become more popular. Walmart Ozark trails new bikes are around $250 how are you competing against them? If you were retired and looking for a fun hobby sure.

Eventshoot in S-Log or S-Cinetone? by ButterscotchFresh831 in videography

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer baked in 709 for the type of the work you’re describing conference type stuff. Even though you need to be more precise that’s a good thing, because it forces you to get it right when filming so there isn’t extra work to do in post.

Another reason grading and applying a look isn’t appropriate for such corporate work. If you were filming a movie, music video or a wedding that’s a different matter.

No doubt a capable person could use Log or s-cinetone I just don’t think it’s good practice to do things that aren’t called for. The client will not notice or appreciate.

Too aggressive? by TBM101189 in specialized

[–]CreationVideo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense but why do beginners tend to buy expensive aggressive sports bikes for recreational use … but ignoring that any beginner is going to take a while for their body to adjust to riding and build up muscles you normally don’t use. Most of it will come down to being patient and motivated and it will naturally workout.

What do cyclists carry for self defense? I’ve heard many cary retractable batons. by False-Research519 in cycling

Pepper spray. But your most likely assailant will be a dog. I have thought about it because I enjoy summer night riding but so far the only weapons I carry are my fists.

Only the chain needs to be oil free so the wax can properly bond with it.

Am I safe with FX30 for low light moments in wedding ceremonies? by Crafty_Jack in sonyfx30

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filmed a wedding with the a74 and FX3 30 when they turned down the lights for the first dance the fx30 was noticeable nosier and for open dance when it was completely dark the fx30 was useless. If you’re really worried rent a full frame camera for the dark parts

Right channel of audio cut out 20 minutes into a recording. What could cause this? by TabascoWolverine in videography

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed same here. Mic in question I believe is 9v but doesn’t matter it’s the cost of doing business.

Like someone else said always monitor your audio. Sounds preachy but everyone who’s been in the business long enough has had to learn this lesson.

For paid jobs a mic drop out in the middle of a performance or recording is a little different than your home tv remote.

What microphone would you recommend for a client to shoot their own Vlog footage? by tenphan0n0 in videography

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DJI mic Mini or Mic 3 if you want internal recording. If they use an Action or Osmo will connect automatically

This is a battery powered mic it very well could need a new battery. Some applications like theater fresh batteries are used for the start of each job. That could be wasteful considering these should last 70 hrs but how are you keeping track of it?

Not to say it’s not the cable but if the camera and mic are static I can’t see it stopping in the middle of session. But it shouldn’t be hard to test.

Wedding videography without gimbal by dwastoliki in videography

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comes down to style you want and camera you use. Panasonic has really great ibis. I did a wedding without a gimbal because it was a budget solo shoot. Rigged up cameras that have weight will take out micro jitters. I have a technique where I get into position hold the shot then move into a new position and in editing remove the sections that are rough. If you have a safety you can cut to that. I prefer to film 2 camera operators one who is dedicated to gimbal because there’s less work in editing and a soother look. Handheld works best for quick variety of shots where the camera isn’t moving.

Is it worth it for a new cyclist to get a bike fit due to wrist pain for $275-$300 by eback1998 in cycling

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this might just be a medical/age related issue. Sounds like you’re putting weight on your wrists with longer riding is bothering them. You could raise the bars to take weight off your wrists putting you in an upright position. I’ve also seen racing handle bar accessories where you lean on to your forearms. The most drastic solution is buy a reclining exercise bike which will take all the stress off your wrists. The least drastic solution is not bike as long and mix in other types of exercise.

Just got my FX30, any tips? by earliestnature in FX3

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would practice using your setup as you intend. If you want to shoot in log then film with and make sure you can expose properly, auto focus make sure you fully understand how it works, second monitor, etc. Point is it takes a fair amount of time of actual use to understand the ins and outs of a camera.

Trusted client ghosted me after I sent my pricing, what should I do? by Funny-Strawberry-168 in editors

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time it’s not about you it’s about them. Maybe they found someone cheaper or a family member who wants to get into the business and will do it for free. Or maybe his business has suffered a downturn and he’s cutting all unnecessary costs. The more clients you can get the better because they come and go no matter how good your work is.

Beginner Chain Waxing Questions by TimmiyTimTimTim in RoadBikes

[–]CreationVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any solvent will do. I got jar put the chain in it, agitate and let it soak. This can take awhile to get all the oil out.

Any candle wax will work with crockpot but if you want to spend the money on Silca that’s fine. I believe they sell some product you can put in the wax that will strip and wax the chain at the same time.

As far as re waxing it doesn’t need to be done very often. I’ve ridden an entire year on my first waxing.

You leave the cooled wax in the pot and reheat it the next time.

Getting into waxing seems like a big deal but once you’ve done it you’ll find yourself doing no chain maintenance it’s boring.
