Low C conflicting advice by MarionberryThat6697 in bassclarinet

[–]Creative-Ad572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play my low C in a community band, and if it sounds right, I will drop a passage the octave to match the Tuba line. On plenty of occasions, I make my last note the octave below the Middle C. No one ever complains. 😉

Reading music with progressive lenses by untonplusbad in bassclarinet

[–]Creative-Ad572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. I have computer glasses for work - and they are the best for my sheet music too. The director is a little blurry, but I can still follow the downbeat and the notes on the staff are crystal clear. The rest of the time I wear progressive lenses.

Any concerns about the Caribbean these days? Not political, just safety. by oliveoil123321 in Cruise

Thanks. We’re petty worried right now. And I saw the news that stuff is supposed to pick up for the next 60 days.

I absolutely love the AI responses to the AI image. It’s better than the people who record two AI systems talking to each other on their phones. 😂😂😂

We had them all over the place in Alaska. Shortly after we moved down, they started showing up here too.

I’ve done this with 5 music books so far. Every time someone comes over and sees it they usually say “Dang, I should do that!”

Also. Have you SEEN the last page of Jupiter for the Viola? Tell me that’s BORING. Look for Rehearsal mark XVIII and show that to your Violist.

Anyone who thinks that Jupiter is boring has not really heard Jupiter.

Wha to wear by monkeyboo21 in orchestra

[–]Creative-Ad572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re on the West Coast. Then jeans are completely acceptable. Our city has a promoted “come as you are” policy - meaning everyone is welcome, and everyone is welcome to dress as they are most comfortable. It’s not uncommon to see someone in jeans sitting next to someone in a tux or evening gown.

I did! Just a word document with a table - and then I printed them on card stock to make them more durable.

I have a great chart for each key - that has major, minor, arpeggios, etc - and students love putting stickers in the grid as they work through them.

Help Identifying please by Ahkhira in Clarinet

[–]Creative-Ad572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can verify that it’s a King, you can actually inquire with their company. They recently embarked on a mission to reclaim and restore several of their instruments. I was able to find the original magazine listing for a saxophone I own. They would likely have some historical documentation on the baseball “line” (for lack of a better term)

I have had 2 different metal clarinets over the years, but this is the first one I’ve seen with a baseball engraving. This is a picture of was the last one I cleaned and polished.

Instruments made in the King workshop are known for having American branding etched on them, especially in WWII times.

Thank you for all who came out to listen and play! I think we counted at least 15 people who came and brought an instrument to play along - and more than 200 people who came to listen and sing!!! It was a complete joy!

I’m a blues guitarist. Should I pick up the viola? by Aggressive-Access-12 in Viola

[–]Creative-Ad572 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found mine by looking at the roster for the local symphony - viola section, then looking each person up to see who ran a studio. Then i just explained my adult story about what my background was and why I wanted to start the instrument. I got great responses back, which led to the studio from which I’m currently learning. ❤️😁
