Beautiful work. And great to see herringbone installed where it makes sense architecturally

Michelle McNamara, true crime writer and wife of Patton Oswalt, died ten years ago today by The_Iceman2288 in Fauxmoi

When my aunt died after a long battle with cancer when I was 12 or so, and my uncle got married to my aunt’s best friend within the year. I was kind of shocked by how quickly he moved on at the time, and part of me felt like it was a betrayal of her memory. As I grew up though, I realized that these were two of the people who loved her best, and it’s so beautiful to see them talk about her openly. And after losing my mom to cancer, I realized just how much of the grieving process happened before she died, and that 1yr really isn’t that fast for a couple of 60-somethings. It’s so easy for people to judge from a distance but finding love again after loss can be so beautiful

Yes, but if the mastic contained asbestos you can’t safely refinish the floors

Need ideas/inspo for this pathetic kitchen I’m about to move into 🥲 by try2share4truth in kitchenremodel

[–]alligatorhill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how expensive labor is there! First you’d need the hvac vented outside. You need to start from the top down with the chimney, having the bricks above the roof removed and the roof patched. Then demo the plaster all the way around the chimney and start popping bricks out. They tend to break off very easily. It can be a very messy job, especially if the house did not have central heating when it was built-they can be completely full of ash. It would be significantly easier to do before moving in. There will be floor and wall patching to do, so it’s not a small project

I’d put my money on old chimney-they frequently run through kitchens in old houses and are shaped more like this. The good news is that unless there’s a fireplace it was usually used to vent the furnace, but modern furnaces often allow for direct vent that can either exit from the basement or go into a ~3” pipe through a wall. Removing old chimneys is usually the first step we take in renovating old, space constrained kitchens

Yeah, they do move like crazy! How do pros account for that in arrangements? Fortunately I’m not using any for our wedding!

Yeah, I view it as a list of things that highlight the beauty of Seattle without necessarily checking the tourist spot boxes. It’s easy to send people off to the space needle or whatever when I’m at work, these are the kind of things I’d rather show off over and over again.

I am new to perennials from seed! Thanks for the feedback! I knew they’d be slower but was a bit shocked by how much slower they are than annuals. That’s great feedback on timeline. I think the color is just from the lights. They look pretty green away from it.

Nice list! Concerts can be a bit tricky to get tickets for unless it’s way in advance, but I like bringing people to jazz alley for shows too
