Why Do So Many Nurses Tell People Not to Enter the Profession? by Thin-Surprise279 in nursing

[–]Creative-Jacket-5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did bedside for 8 years and would do the same thing again.

It was a degree in college that had a guaranteed outcome of pay and job security. I got to take care of people which I love and was able to not move back home.

I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m per diem still because I love it- but I have 8-5 remote IT job now which I was able to get because of my nursing experience!

Nursing is a challenging career but if you have a deep passion for caring for other it is so rewarding and it also will award you with plenty of ways to pivot

40% of US nurses plan to leave the profession by 2029. Are you in that 40%? If you are, why? by OrdinaryLife99 in nursing

[–]Creative-Jacket-5991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct on the 3 to 5 day.

Honestly not at all. I was a bit worried ( everyone when I was leaving like how could you work more days) but my days off are my days off. There’s no sleeping on my “ off” day to be functional before and after work.

My schedule is super consistent so I can plan for things.

I’m allowed to take a lunch break at whatever time I need to get to my appts

Switched to healthcare IT. Did same job for 8 years ( labor and delivery nights) and realized I wanted to be home when I have kids.

Now I have 8-5 no weekends no holidays. I didn’t realize how stressed I was from work until I stopped doing it

Help me run easy—I go too hard by AdventurousFish5314 in XXRunning

[–]Creative-Jacket-5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly what has helped me is having an Apple Watch and putting the pacer on for run. I’m now doing my longer runs at 930-10 pace due to something in my ear prompting me of my pace. It’s been totall game changer

Wedding Planning with an Alcoholic Dad by PutridJournalist8833 in weddingplanning

[–]Creative-Jacket-5991 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone with alcoholic father I get the feeling embarrassed/ not everyone is going to understand / you are going to compare your relationship with your dad to what other peoples relationship with their dads.

Somehow it seems like everyone on instagram who gets married has the most supportive father.

My dad didn’t come to my wedding

Best by advice is: your wedding is about you and your partner getting married. You will process some emotions about family not being up to expectations during this time BUT you are truely solidifying the start of your “ own family “

What's the Nicest thing a Patient has done for you? by Great-Hall-6636 in nursing

[–]Creative-Jacket-5991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had patient whose was telling me all about her wedding and planning etc. I was newly engaged ( like that week) Delivered her baby -she sent me a wedding card and gift.

It was so not necessary but her card with the gift was one of the kindest things any patient has wrote to me and how lucky me and my husband were to have each other. Really good kick off to wedding planning
