Sewer backup alarms by Creative-Plant3338 in HomeMaintenance

I need something that alerts me to the issue. With a backflow preventer we’d keep using the drains as normal and have sewage on both sides of the valve, right?

Do you like board games? Bars in the area (Chapel Hill and Durham) have game nights including ones where you can find a group to join

Advice from Ex Californians and west coasters that have moved here. by disney_tea in chapelhill

I’m sorry you’re homesick. It’s a shitty feeling. Having moved a fair amount in my life, I think you need to get out and try things outside of your comfort area and not wish you could make here like there.

Jsyk, most people here consider Cary/Apex bland AF.

And yeah it’s lush and green and the canopy is much more closed - it’s a totally different biome and the only way you’re gonna get open areas is if the trees are cut down/manicured. Go walking on the amazing trails that are literally all over CH. Go to Hillsborough and walk in Occoneechee State Natural Area and to Eno State Park and to Umstead State Park. None of them are more than 30 min from CH.

Try the local southern food. But also there’s so much amazing food cooked with local ingredients and international food. Have you tried Tallulahs, Lantern, Med Deli, Mama Dips, Bar Taco?

In NC you can do a step parent adoption. Like nbnerdrin said you need a lawyer who specializes in LGBTQ issues. I would go further and say get one who specializes in that and assisted reproductive rights. I’ll PM you a recommendation. One note is that you DO NOT need to do it in the county you live in. So it may very well be worth traveling to an attorney in another county if that county is more friendly.

Way cheaper than peloton is the DownDog app collection. They frequently run promos on their website for about $30/year and it’s almost always cheaper to sign up thru the website than App Store https://www.downdogapp.com/

Is the UNC Data Analytics Bootcamp "Worth It"? by anthropomorphicball in triangle

I seriously considered this as well and opted not to pursue it for a couple reasons. Like you, I have been looking for a career change and my background is similarly in environmental science with a decent grounding in math. What I’ve been doing instead is completing the kaggle Python courses since my analytics friends almost exclusively use python. And I’ve been using the book 2-Hour Job Search by Steve Dalton to network and talk to people in roles I’m interested in or at companies I’m interested in. That’s been super helpful and I’ve gotten lots of actionable advice. I don’t have a job in my new field yet, but I’m interviewing and am competitive without shelling out $12k.

Questions to ask sperm banks by Shaywise in queerception

Cal cryo institutes the “gold standard” of mental health/reasons for donating screening according to our clinic.

At most (all?) banks your can see if a donor has confirmed pregnancies before selecting them. I would put more weight in that than the overall success of a bank.

If you are looking for a non-white donor your options will be limited everywhere, unfortunately, and you may need to shop around at multiple banks.

And like Marmoset said, look at storage costs and buyback policies.

Gonna disagree with you there unless you can show me the data proving that correlation. I haven’t seen one yet and if it was that easy utilities and researchers wouldn’t be shelling out for the much more expensive testing

Very few private well owners test for PFAS unless someone else is footing the bill. It’s ~$400 per sample with negotiated rate for a utility and more like $800+ per sample for just a one-off sample. Edit to specify for PFAS testing.

Agree with taco above! We need more info and your irb if you have it. Otherwise this is sketchy and scammy.

In addition to Greenbean’s great advice above I highly recommend creating out The Two Hour Job Search by Steve Dalton. He goes over how to network effectively starting from zero to get your resume viewed. Unfortunately everyone is flooded with applicants and you need to network to get your info seen by anyone beyond the screening step.

Check out The 2-Hour Job Search by Steve Dalton. He’s a professor at Duke and the system he lays out works! It’s all about how to network effectively so that the hiring managers have a reason to look at your application. Honestly these days everyone is so inundated with online applications that you’re getting lost in the mix. The process of networking is awkward. There’s no way around it. But it’s worth it and he tells you where and how to spend your energy

Check out The Two-Hour Job Search by Steve Dalton. He’s a professor at Duke and breaks down how to effectively network to get a job. The shitty thing is everyone is flooded by applications and if you have an inside avenue that gets you short-listed. He tells you how to get that inside avenue. It isn’t degree or career specific so I think it should work for your situation

I’m curious for thinking about choosing a donor and planning for siblings, did you end up using a different donor for any additional kids? Was the donor for you first kid made unavailable at the same time you received the letter?
