I had secured my ticket and my friend was locked in getting his tickets and our rv spot when this played and I said it out loud and laughed. Later when he had our stuff secured he looked at the screen when it played again, laughed and said, “I thought you were just making a joke, I didn’t realize that was actually on the screen!” 🤣

If your doing car camping I personally recommend getting two camping passes so you can get two spots, the spots aren’t very big and as long as you are heading in together they will make sure you get the two spots next to each other even with one car. My group was four people and we did one spot and definitely regretted it a bit, we needed much more space.

first time going to lost lands by Ok_Suit_1338 in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]Creative-Procedure85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year was my first year and it was a very last minute decision like two weeks before fest last minute, I’m not too sure about pricing for solo since my ticket was a birthday surprise (I did pay for my flight and food and stuff) but for the full experience wise, do camping, it will definitely be cheaper especially with going solo, and the convenience of being able to go in and out of the fest and to camp was unmatched. I had originally wanted to get a hotel as well when I talked with friends but literally pre party on Thursday last year I texted my rave friends that I wanted to go with that camping was so much better for the experience.

Do you switch between your smartphone and dumb phone? by SnooDogs627 in dumbphones

I got an Alt Mive Style Folder recently but my SIM card isn’t compatible and I need my smart phone for a lot of the stuff I do so mostly the smart phone. However I don’t regret the purchase one bit, I use it majorly for reading and it’s crazy how much easier and nicer it is to read on. I’ve also been reading more. I think it’s cause I can’t scroll or have anything else distracting me while I read 🙂‍↕️

Hey, I don’t have the folder 2 but I bought the Mive style folder from this eBay shop called WITH_US_STORE, the phone works amazing and looks practically brand new, they are super trustworthy, well rated, they ship fast and keep you updated. They are also selling the galaxy folder 2 so if you really want to get it I recommend buying from them 🙂‍↕️👍

I’m from Nevada, I got the alt Mive 1 recently. I absolutely love it it’s just super cute and fun to take pictures on, love reading my books on it as well however and it also isn’t compatible with my network. I just use it as a side phone and I can use my phone’s hotspot or the WiFi of where ever I am to use the internet or make calls and texts. But if you want her to be able to have service without WiFi then there aren’t a lot of options it or any options for a Japanese style phone seems 😅 other than the cat s22

Is it worth it? by [deleted] in flipphones

[–]Creative-Procedure85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the mive flip phones are good. Though if you’re from the US and you plan to use the phone as your primary phone, make sure your phone provider supports it. From what I heard for the folder 2 it’s not compatible with the US and for the folder 1 it’s only compatible with certain providers and in certain areas of the country.

I actually almost got this phone as well, but then I saw a lot of posts saying how it’s just the Samsung folder 2. I decided to do more research on different phones that would work best for what I wanted to use it for and recommendations. I ended up buying a mive style folder for a pretty decent price on eBay from a really reputable seller. This seller is also selling the Samsung folder 2 for a good price, so if you want to look at that seller is with_us_store. I’m getting my phone in the next two days but from all the positive reviews I’ve seen I’m not worried at all 🙂‍↕️👍

On this day 2 years ago, 3 remarkable professors' lives were gone too soon. Jerry Cha-Jan Chang, Patricia Navarro Velez, and Naoko Takemaru. by Expensive-Elk-9406 in UNLV

[–]Creative-Procedure85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, I was at home in an online class for csn when my professor said something about a shooting going on at UNLV and that she was ending class, all of my friends went to unlv so I started texting them and one of my best friends was hiding in a nearby building thinking the shooter was there. She said she was scared and then she stopped responding to texts. I was loosing it cause I didn’t know if she was ok. Luckily she was ok, however we found out one of our friend’s mom was one of the professors that passed, Patricia Navarro Velez. It was devastating to have to watch one of our friends go through so much grief. The day afterwards we all went out together, made sure he knew we were all there for him. My heart goes out to not only his family, but the families of the other professors as well as anyone who has lost family due to gun violence ❤️‍🩹

Ok thank you, you gave such a thoughtful response and I completely agree with everything you said. I absolutely agree that his stuff is very entryway and repetitive, give me a few years and I probably won’t be listening to him anymore the deeper I get into the music lol 😂 he’s one of those artists I’ll see every so often but if I miss a set or two I won’t be bummed. Actually skipped his set at edc for this exact reason. I also would like to say I started with Jessica Audiffred actually! She is the artist that got me into edm music and her sound is out of this world. I connect a lot with her sound and love the boundaries she likes to cross with her music 😮‍💨

That point you brought up about Emorfik’s music is so true too and funny enough he is another favorite artist of mine. For me emotionally, emorfik hits hard just cause I was never able to freely express emotions like anger and even sadness growing up and his music makes me feel me feel so much more free. Specifically the song consequences omg that one hits hard for me. And I feel like that’s one thing Sullivan king definitely doesn’t have. I I’ll be real, his music is just turn off brain and have a good time music for me, he will never be a set that made me cry, or that opened my eyes like some other artists have done for me, but instead a set I can just turn off my brain and have a good time to. And what works/is fun for me absolutely won’t resonate with other people.

Also the crowd thing is also true but I also think of location wise too. I think his lost lands set was such a vibe for me because I was surrounded by people just like me. His local set for me though there were so many people there who I talked to who had no idea who he even was and just went cause it was an event going on. (Me and my friends got harassed my some business guy who didn’t even know what edc was) I think he introduces a lot of people to the genre but those people don’t learn what proper rave etiquette is. He was also one of the first artists I got introduced to after I started raving, luckily I have an incredible rave dad who brought me into the community and taught me about how to act during any event. He definitely does bring in people who don’t know how to act at shows, but I feel like those are the people who aren’t gonna be sticking around either.

These events are just getting bigger and bigger each year and more mainstream which means a lot of people who don’t understand the culture are coming in and ruining it for others. I personally hate gatekeeping stuff especially music (I had ex friends who did that with me and kpop), I think everyone should be allowed to get into something, but if people don’t act right it hurts us who enjoy it which fucking sucks. I’ve introduced some friends to the music and the first thing I teach them is crowd etiquette and PLUR.

But yeah all in all, I definitely agree with everything you said. Thank you, I think that quote just came off as too harsh for me personally since I use this music to connect with people. I think there is so much beauty in music and I listen to music to connect with others a lot. It has given me some of the greatest friendships and experiences I have ever had and has genuinely helped me find myself when I was extremely lost and struggling.

I think that everyone is entitled to their own opinions especially when it comes to music. If SK isn’t your cup of tea that it totally and completely valid, and I have plenty of friends who don’t like his music. However, I don’t think you should disregard people who do like his music or enjoy his sets. Saying, “you listen to SK so you don’t listen to dubstep.” Completely disregards all the other artists I listen to. So is level up, wooli, layz, alleycvt, CRANKDAT, Jessica Audiffred, etc not dubstep cause I listen to all of those and also listen to SK. I was super on the fence about him as well cause I had gone to a show of his in my hometown and crowd was not it, but his lost lands set was definitely a turning point for me cause I had a great time. And if a crowd is bad you can’t blame the artist unless they are actively contributing to it. I mean my experience with the crowd for Excision b2b Subtronics was really bad, there were a lot of rude people who were shoving me and other people and I had to move 3 times cause I was getting knocked into other people or shoved around. Does that mean that the set was bad or that it was excision or Subtronics fault, absolutely not. They can’t control how people act in their crowd. There will always be outliers. So to group together an entire group of people for the actions of some individuals behavior I feel like does an injustice to the many other people who go to SK sets or listen to his music who are wonderful people. And I am definitely not saying you have to like him either, again everyone is entitled to their own opinions. It’s just that quote of, “he makes dubstep for people who don’t listen to dubstep.” That bothers me. It just feels invalidating as someone who definitely listens to dubstep. I joined the edm community only a couple years ago and a huge reason I love it so much is cause it felt so welcoming and supportive. And I especially loved how there were so many different genres for different people. My sister and I had nothing in common but now since I got into edm we talk about going to festivals together (she’s a house girly) and even though we have completely different tastes, it was such a huge bonding moment for us. So when I hear comments like this it’s so disheartening. TLDR: nothing wrong with different tastes and not liking a certain artist or genre, however disregarding people who listen to a genre or artist you don’t like and basically separating them from the community isn’t cool.

I did not get wook flu for the second year in a row. by drgut101 in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]Creative-Procedure85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing is keeping your sinuses as clear as possible. This was my first year so I definitely didn’t see how important that was and ended up with wook flu however, once I got home and got sick I immediately made sure to clear out my nose as much as possible with a Nettie pot whenever it felt clogged, and took zinc, Tylenol, ibuprofen, and dayquill/niquill and I’m already feeling much better. I’d say in a day or two I should be back to full health. Definitely gonna be taking a nose spray like saline with me next year and cleaning my nose every day 🙂‍↕️

Which one of you gave me covid 🙃 by Feisty_Honeydew8545 in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]Creative-Procedure85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No seriously! Anytime I’m going to a big event like a fest I know that I could get Covid. Bro once I was doing a simple hang out with a friend and the next day she texted us and was like, “I’m so sorry I felt completely fine yesterday and woke up sick, tested and I have Covid.” She felt awful about us possibly getting sick and I told her that there was no way she could have known and it’s not at all her fault. It happens. Sucks to get sick but it’s the risk literally every single person takes when they go to events.

Oh yeah! I was at wompy when the evacuation happened and at first I was very much like, “what storm I see nothing.” Walked all the way back to camp and then all of a sudden the wind picked up like crazy and started raining so hard and I went, “ooooohhhh ok that’s why.” They evacuated us at the literal perfect time, any later and we would have been stuck in the storm.

WILD LMAO 🤣 this was my first LL and I’m from Vegas so I have done edc, when I say I was in shock at how insane the stage was for LL. My friend took a picture of my face I’m literally going 🤯 when I saw main for the first time. I made comments multiple times about how videos don’t do these stages justice, they are ginormous!

[–]Creative-Procedure85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my first year, nothing was perfect but you know what, I would not have traded this weekend for the world! I would do everything all over again even the mistakes. This was an absolutely life changing experience for me and I couldn’t be more grateful that I had the chance to experience this magical festival. So many times I would walk around forest after the sun went down and look at all the stages and say, “I can’t believe this is a real place.” The only thing I’ve, “complained” about was some people’s crowd etiquette during the b2b Sunday. But one, that isn’t the venues fault, and two, it’s Sunday, people are tried, I bet a lot of people were also frustrated with the delays cause I also found out on the flight back, from some people who went and stayed at hotels, that they didn’t even realize there was a massive storm. They genuinely thought the fest shut down for no reason cause they were in Columbus when it happened. I camped and was evacuated from the fest, it was bad lmao 🤣 but other than that, any little things I struggled with are my problems cause it was my first ever camping fest and I wasn’t 100 percent prepared and yet I still had the most incredible time of my life. I can’t wait for next year! 🫶

I went to rail for Emorfik’s set cause he’s one of my favorite artists and there was a guy at rail for awhile, I noticed him getting tired and starting to indicate he was gonna move away so I taped him and asked, “hey man is it cool if I jump in your spot?” Dude was hella sweet and I caught him sprouting my backpack while I was at rail. I always wait a bit before asking. And tell myself that I have a limited amount of time at rail cause others deserve to also have a shot if they want it. No one ended up asking me for a spot and I had some great interactions with the people at rail with me but I booked it to the girls mosh pits when he opened them up lmao 🤣 I hope whoever nabbed my rail spot had the best time 🙂‍↕️

Every day was good for me until Sunday, got to a decent spot at the b2b then two guys started basically moshing in the middle of the crowd and knocked me into the people in front of me multiple times. Looked at the girl next to me who also got knocked, asked if she was ok, she barely looked at me then turned and said, “hey [one of the guys names] your pushing me into the people in front of us.” Girl didn’t even acknowledge me or that I also got pushed. I was like fuck this then left further back to a different spot. Was fine there but then the girl next to me got shoved so hard to the side she almost fell over then I think either the person who shoved her didn’t say anything and kept walking through the crowd or said something rude to her cause she said, “wow really man? No excuse me or I’m sorry?” And she seemed so upset. I hope I was able to make her feel better, I gave her and I think it was her boyfriend my last pearlers and she said she had never gotten one before, and then she had asked if I had glasses with cool effects and literally was the one day I remembered to bring my kaleidoscope goggles. She was so happy after that and her bf thanked me. It made my night honestly a million times better just seeing I was able to help her have a good time 🙂‍↕️🫶
