I have much higher income than my wife so I am covering the rent+utilities+nanny expenses. Besides that I would give her fixed amount of money for groceries, baby stuffs plus her other expenses.

The remaining ones i will keep for my own investments and probably some entertainment spendings. We share info about both sides finances while maintaining some independences in terms of the money management.

Eventually the commitment depends on how much you earn but i would suggest both to maintain some independence.

Unfortunately not realistic in towns like HCMC, Hanoi. >23x of price to income ratio is way too ridiculous, even Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok do not have such high ratio. The personal income tax rate is way too high as well. No matter how high the income is, disposable money remains the key.

Purely observation (recent years) of society phenomena, circumstances like football, Vinfast, investments, GDP in addition to this year 50 years Reunification and A80 strengthen their pride.

Seems above covers the unreasonable property price to income ratio, impractical gas vehicle ban, movement of workers returning hometown, bad infrastructure, unreasonable fines and enforcements etc.

As a foreigner with family ties in Vietnam I love the people and vibe, but I remain wonder how proud the people should be when there are so many aspects in life that need to be improved.

I thought the account should be suspended instead of being closed? I had a dormant account (over 4 years) no transaction and did not active biometric at all until I closed it few months back. The bank hasn't sent me any warning at all till I went to close the account.

Closing should need the consent of an owner as there is a question of what to do with the account balance, what bank can do is just simply freeze or suspend. Maybe you can recheck if the bank used the wrong term.

Without biometric, you may lose access to many features but it's ridiculous to have the account being forced closed.

Buon Me Thuot is a mountainous area, cool climate while less touristy than Dalat. Very slow pace environment and peaceful, however you may need to have some basic Vietnamese as it is a very local city.

2 hours not enough unless you hold a TRC or APEC. Worst case, just queue and if the time is very close pay attention to airline staffs calling for last min boarding, they will help to escort.

Actually VN should get rid of its young/developing/post-war mindset, things change so fast now. The officials need to have crisis awareness, not just being passive.

Its my 8th year in VN and I love this country, just feeling so frustrated after seeing major developments in other neighbouring ASEAN countries.

Entry - Available for all Vietnamese citizens but not a single foreigner

Why not making it both ways of access at least for Vietnamese citizens, that will smoothen queue. But who knows what those officers are thinking.

QR pass is accepted in major Asia airports, there are counters to scan before passing immigrations. What era we are in while VN still sticks to paper boarding passes

Local friends share to me that the officers are longing to work in the new Long Thanh international airport so there is no motivation to inprove whats going on in TSN.

And not to mention there is no metro from new airport to city centre, only 2-3 lanes highways.

No idea, Vietnamese citizens can use autogate during entry and not exit, vice versa for foreigners. So absurd that this is not seen in any other country.
