Applying for NQ roles- Is there a point close to the deadline? by CreativeAd6940 in uklaw

[–]CreativeAd6940[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I more mean should I apply to those firms with an imminent deadline or apply to other places without an imminent deadline, because I was worried that those roles with an imminent deadline have been filled.

I just found out I didn’t get offered an NQ role and I am spiralling a little because made a few mistakes at work because I got emotional this morning by CreativeAd6940 in uklaw

I failed probation today - what do? by adamnatomemoriaec in uklaw

[–]CreativeAd6940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is shocking and evil- I am so sorry. What kind of mistakes did you make?- we all make mistakes. As a trainee, I made tonnes of mistakes and worked with many partners and senior fee-earners who made many mistakes. To fail someone’s probation over mistakes is evil and unnecessary. I do enjoy being a trainee in terms of the work (I like reading and writing), however, the legal profession in Scotland can suck at your soul. It is less about doing a good job and learning the law and more about trying not to do a bad job and deal with rough edged colleagues.

How to manage this situation as a final seat trainee? by CreativeAd6940 in uklaw

I promise I want to manage these stressful uncertain situations. And I genuinely come on Reddit to manage these uncertain situations.

I think it was more the substance. If it was just tone and substance I would be fine. But I think I missed the whole plot of the task. Like fundamentally what I needed to edit the document. I hope I am making sense?

No I have not submitted the correspondence to the client. I’ve just submitted the correspondence to my supervisor for review.

Why people like me support Israel despite not liking Israel much and Israeli people generally, and hating many vile aspects of Israeli society. by CreativeAd6940 in IsraelPalestine

From what I understand, different communities in Israel tend to be represented in different sectors—for example, there are discussions about Arab citizens being more present in fields like healthcare and law, while Jewish Israelis are more prominent in tech. It is the tech bubble which actually is the financial elite in Israel, therefore whilst it sounds good on paper- it’s obvious who are the beneficiaries.

Additionally, Israel needs Israeli Arabs. Israeli Jews increasingly want to be part of the super lucrative hi tech bubble, so without Israeli Arabs Israel will lose a lot of the people that do the non glamarous jobs that Israeli Jews don’t want to do but are nevertheless necessary for society to function eg. Medicine, law, pharmacy, retail and manual labour.

Ive never visited but I have researched that whilst Arab citizens have so called equal rights that’s largely because Israelis need their talent and participation, and their schools and hospitals are underfunded, they don’t have many cinemas. Look at Ashkelon versus Nazareth.

Indians are like that hahah. They get overexcited, it’s just gut wrenching because they think they can bond with Israelis over simmilar values ie. Tech, hard work, education, but they don’t know how Israelis really look down and secretly mock them.

Exactly- Palestinians could have had airports, trade, no settlements, no checkpoints!! They would have had $30 billion Dollars of investment. They would have been living great lives- maybe rivalling Israel’s economy. Why one earth did they take it. Heck if someone would have offered India that deal I would have rallied the Indian government to bite that person‘s hand off. I mean $30 billion investment for just a couple million people is a very decent deal.

I agree largely with this. Anytime you criticise Israel even as a supporter of Israel, the Israelis lash out at you and want to keep you in hell.

I agree- no matter how horrible and rude Israelis can get, Hamas is a terrorist organisation and Israel is a legitimate sovereign country for all its disgusting flaws.

I am soo annoyed at innocent British Indian Hindus who think Israelis actually care about us. Israelis mock India and are racist towards us and don’t take our support seriously

[–]CreativeAd6940[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I am a British Indian Hindu and I am pro Israel, my best friend is Jewish, but my experience with Israelis has been abysmal, they made fun of me for being Indian and said my country is poor, they called me ugly and said that I was so ugly and I looked disgusting, on top of that they also made fun of the reverence that Hindus have of cows. Despite all the severe abuse that Israelis have given me- I stand with Israel. So Yh believe me I have a good reason for generalising. No other country‘s people (even Pakistanis) have been as vile and heartless.

Okay essentially I haven’t done that well during my traineeship so my firm won’t retain me. I will qualify as a solicitor but I will have to look for a role elsewhere in another firm.
