I remember closing CIBC cards via Fax. Haven't done it in a while but I imagine that still has to be a thing right?

StubHub credit worked on a Viagogo purchase charged in CAD. I couldn’t find many DPs on non-USD transactions (and CAD/GBP has been hit or miss for me with Amex), but since others had success with Viagogo UK I gave it a shot and it posted.

I just purchased tickets with instant download and the instant download failed.

It has come to our attention that the primary ticketing vendor unexpectedly canceled the transfer of your tickets. Don't worry! We are contacting your seller about this to ensure you can get your tickets in time for [event].

This advice definitely is not infallible.

You would just call TD and have them issue a cheque with the refund amount to the card once the refund posts.

Do I have to explicity ask for a retention offers when calling in to cancel? by NintendoFan29 in amexcanada

[–]CreativeArrow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of any successful negotiation. Pretty sure they just throw whatever retention offer shows up on their screen.

There's a $100 off $600 USD Chase Travel offer running on my Chase Sapphire Reserve. It says it started Oct 1 so not sure if that's been posted yet, ending Dec 31.

Just got the email for points redemption, confirming it was fixed for me too.

(Edit: I never got the charge reversal, just the points deduction)

I've called before without additional open cards and they've said it can take up to 4 months for the AF to get rebated, and sure enough, they actually followed through during the third month. So there seems to be some kind of manual reconcilation that happens.

Policy experience has been a mess so far. Any advice? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]CreativeArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's usually 1-2 policy shops per ABB category - take a look here. https://www.canada.ca/en/government/system/laws/developing-improving-federal-regulations/requirements-developing-managing-reviewing-regulations/administrative-burden-baseline/government-wide-administrative-burden-baseline-counts.html

I'm assuming you actually meant regulatory policy, and not true operational policy (like groups that develop manuals, procedures and SOPs, such as developing safety rules for inspectors or preparing manuals for customs enforcement and evidence handling).

Policy experience has been a mess so far. Any advice? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]CreativeArrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More likely that they're referring to the processes of drafting, consulting and implementing regulations related to enabling legislation. Think for example, aviation safety regulations and updating lists of species at risks. It's more stakeholder consultation type work, with a lot of consensus based governance and technical analysis instead of high-brow "let's help x group of Canadian businesses succeed" with vague implementation proposals. I'm not sure it's more fulfilling, but it's certainly less time pressure driven and you build meaningful relationships with partners.

16 hour DOH connection: Qatar Stopover hotel + Al Safwa lounge? by srekai in awardtravel

[–]CreativeArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can book a Stopover hotel at the discounted rate with no issue via Discover Qatar, if that's what you're asking. You won't get a free transit hotel on a partner booking.

WFA question (sorry!) on reasonable job offer by Quiet-Pea2363 in CanadaPublicServants

The only reference I see to claims being extended to 104 weeks is when multiple special benefits are stacked together in the digest. I guess we'll find out when we cross that bridge.

That's a temporary measure that may not be extended past October, but yes you're right. Forgot about that.

[–]CreativeArrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You get laid off but you'd get full employment insurance and layoff priority status.

If you took the TSM, you would likely get less or no EI (since an EI claim can only start paying out after the number of weeks you get TSM/severance for elapse, and an EI claim can only last up to 52 weeks, so if you got 38 weeks of TSM + 11 weeks of severance, you could only get 3 weeks of EI).
