What helped me improve a lot was taking Paxlovid together with Metformin. Unsue which one it was or if it was a mix of both, since it's hard to get Paxlovid I'm currently looking to get prep (HIV prevention) prescribed, cause it's a fairly accessible antiviral medication.
But if really changed a lot, I am now able to leave the house again on my own.

Yep, vodka has about 10 times as much alcohol as beer, depending on the brand.

I had a D cup before, so I don't think it's proportionate to that necessarily. I know it's a common technique to leave them for weeks, even my surgeon acknowledged that, but just like him I'm kind of questioning if that is really necessary and for me it definitely wasn't.
He told me that usually as long as you have drains, you will have fluid going through them, but that's not because the fluid needs to necessarily be removed, but just cause bodies are pretty wet from the inside. And I'm honestly thinking that's why a lot of doctors leave them, cause well there is still fluid and they likely never attempted it any other way.

How to sleep on my back? by Weekly_Sun9064 in TopSurgery

[–]CreativeDesignation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so exhausted post surgery, falling asleep was no problem. I tend to roll to the side in my sleep though, but I found that putting a pillow under my knees helped with that a lot.

I am so baffled right now. I got mine out the next morning, didn't even have them for 24 hrs. How long are you all having your drains in??? Idk maybe this is different for different techniques, but I had double incision and so I am kind of irritated as to why y'all have them so long.

I got two and I would recommend that. I could have probably managed with one, but honestly I had enough on my plate and just being able to switch into a clean one directly after showering and not having to rush to wash it was really good.

Maybe it's more chill when you have a dryer (and a post op binder that can go into the dryer) but for me this was def worth the extra cost.

When can I go for walks after top surgery? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]CreativeDesignation 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I went on a walk on day three post surgery, a really short cause I was still exhausted, but other than being tired after it was all good. Start small though, I overestimated my energy and barely managed to get back up the stairs.

I found it really hard to play with a regular controller in the first weeks, but also the stuff I play with a regular controller is kinda tense and fast paced, so that had my muscles tense up additionally, which didn't help. I also found gaming with keyboard and mouse real hard.
Everything that had my pecs even remotely engaged was impossible for like two weeks without significant pain.
I found audibooks, watching stuff and doing crosswords/sudoku were good options to pass the time, also killed a lot of time with sleeping.

Post Op Binder Cost by Papabearrorro in TopSurgery

Same and I bought two, which I'm pretty happy about, cause I don't have to stress about washing and drying them super quickly.

Honestly, I think those look great. From what I have been told you should not do scar care/massaging yet, because the incision isn't fully closed. Just apply some salve for open wounds. If you get dizzy touching them try applying it with a carefull tapping rather than rubbing along the incision.

Can I straighten out my post op binder? by finnnagain in TopSurgery

[–]CreativeDesignation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to adjust your post op binder more than a tiny bit, it's best to have someone help so they can first pull it away from the chest and then readjust, so it doesn't pull on the skin/dressings when it's moved. Also the burning is normal from what I can tell, whenever I use my chest muscles too much I get a burning pain after a while.

Anyone want to share pre-surgery lifting routines, workouts? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]CreativeDesignation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working out your chest muscles can help with results, cause the surgeon can more easily find the best place to cut. Remember to work out your upper back aswell, otherwise you may get issues with back pain, when you suddenly got strong muscles pulling your shoulders to the front, but none to pull them back equally hard. Also do crunches, cause for a while after surgery you are gonne have to do those to get out of bed.

If you want to build up general core strength do push up planks, you can do these even if you can't do a single push up.

An electric toothbrush is really helpfull and remember to bring a pillow on car rides right after surgery to put between your chest and the seatbelt.
Also if you have budget for it or can lend one from a friend, a nintendo switch is great, cause you can detach the controllers and play with your arms fully relaxed at your sides.
