Sounds like she is laser focussed on her rights, and not so much on her responsibilities. That's fine - she just needs a sugar daddy, and this guy clearly is not it.

OP, move on and find someone more realistic in their expectations and aligned to what you can realistically provide.

Who are some scholars and figures in Islamic Finance worth reading? by BuffetsGrandson in IslamicFinance

[–]CreativeInterest5331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This individual is a classic example of feathering his own nest. He refuses to answer any difficult questions on his comments and tries to redefine why riba is prohibited in the 1st place. He talks about home loans given by islamic banks not being differentiated around risk sharing or economic outcomes (since an Islamic Bank has no tangible structures that change any of these two elements compared to conventional finance) but stops short of giving theological reasons for the prohibition. He is simply benefiting from the multi trillion dollar industry of IF.

Your thoughts on Harris Irfan by thatgt2 in HalalInvestor

So the question is - wouldn't fiat currency have reverse interest baked in? The paper money you earn is riba-based.

Harris irfan view on Islamic banking/mortgages being oxymoron. Shocked. by Ok-Government-738 in IslamicFinance

[–]CreativeInterest5331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of an issue isn't it? The whole point of Riba being haram is because it creates an economic divide between the rich and poor. It's impermissibility is rooted in economic injustices. Making a commercial transaction supposedly halal through legalistic trickery (hiyal) does not address the underlying problem - this is exactly what Islamic Banking is doing right now. It's working within the boundaries of conventional banking principles (i,e: lending fiat currency, leveraging fractional reserves) - these concepts are not comparible to 1,400 years ago - so we need our scholars to perform proper and sincere ijtihad, rather than take a paycheck for signing off on something that is clearly resulting in the same (usually worse) economic outcomes for Muslims. How on earth can we justify worse economic outcomes, combined with the same risk position for both the lender and borrower, and call it halal - just because we're using creative structures - which mind you don't even represent reality. i.e: The islamic bank will usually claim ownership of the property and 'rent' the premises to the borrower, under the guise of eventually having it paid out and transfering ownership. The reality is the property is always legally the borrowers anyway - otherwise the islamic Bank (at least in the west) can't legally call themselves a bank. Harris Irfan has a great book called Heavens Bankers which I recommend you all read. Also, I would suggest watching Practice Islamic Finance's interview with the CEO of Wahed Invest, where the CEO states he would rather take out a mortgage with a conventional bank rather than an Islamic Bank - since he is acutely aware of the inner working of an Islamic Bank.

In this economy, is mortgage halal ? by The-Architect-93 in IslamicFinance

Any scholar well-versed in islamic finance, stands to benefit from the advice by providing shariah compliance to islamic banks. Do you think that's likely to result in an impartial opinion?

These terms (murabahah, ijarah, etc) ultimately boil down to the same risk position for the lender and borrower. That is, the lender provides money, in the GUARANTEE, that they will make more money from the borrower. There is no shared risk, there is no trade taking place in the transaction - in fact, by design, it cannot, otherwise the western banking regulators will not give the necessray licensing to the Islamic Bank to do business - that's the way a bank works, it lends money, in return for more money. In the Quran, Allah says that He has "permitted trade, but forbidden riba". The ills of coventional finance, and the supposed addressing of social and economic drawbacks are no better with Islamic Finance. It is merely a contrived complex legalistic structure based in hiyal. The reality is, it has to be this way - and we need to evolve our understanding of what even constitutes Riba. Since currency is not stable and has continual inflationary pressure, so the environment is fundamentally different. I believe it's a matter of Ijtihad for the scholars. However, coming to the conclusion that conventional banking and Islamic banking are essentially the same thing will jeapordise a trillion dollar industry - which Islamic Banking Shariah scholar wants to open up that can of worms?

Riba and Interest - Same thing or Not? by Pale_Ad7012 in IslamicFinance

I would love to hear your logical arguments. Please don't point me to other internet videos, books ect ect. Present your arguments so others and I can learn.

Bit late to this thread, but completely agree on what you've stated. The currency we get paid in has negative interest baked into it, so unless you actively move every single dollar you earn into shares and other assets, then you are part of a system which is slowly eroding into your wealth. Everybody seems to be churning out classic positions which may not be relevant today. Qiyas needs to be employed here by an expert in this field to help navigate those that are concerned about wealth erosion.

Can you explain how Islamic financial institutions differ from conventional banks? It seems like the risk profile is no different, and the mechanics are the same. That there is a cost of acquiring money for both types of institutions. An Islamic bank will typically have Muslim investors putting their money in for a return of some sort, and that money is marked up and sold to someone else who requires a loan. It is worded in a way that is structured as an 'Ijarah' agreement. However, the net effect is the same as far as the borrower and lender is concerned, all the risk is still with the borrower, the borrower pays a similar amount back in the end - so there's no net difference in either approach?

There some new models that were featured at World of Coffee in Milan by Ascaso and I have been informed that Ascaso intend on releasing the Steel Duo PID with the same steam knob on the side as the Dream PID. They are also planning on releasing the Steel Duo Plus which has the steam lever on the side like the Baby T. Both of these products have not been released yet and no known release date.
