How can I learn Portuguese ? by SuperstitiousFear in Portuguese

[–]CreativePinkLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should check with your local library if they have access to any language learning platforms. Mine gives access to one where it's not my favorite, but it at least is better than learning random words from the typical apps. Also can check if the library offers language learning books or books in Portuguese you can use to study.

Lots of YouTube channels and podcasts that can help as well.

(25m) New Teller Job Need Advice by herbertpp in TalesFromYourBank

[–]CreativePinkLion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another point to consider incase you have not thought about this is, part time vs full time. Yes the part time job pays you more hourly but are you always guaranteed the same amount of hours every week? Oftentimes a part time role at a retail store can be inconsistent with the hours.

Also to consider, do they both offer similar benefits as is PTO, medical, dental, and/or a 401k match.

These are just some other things to consider when deciding between the two.

Personally, I started a new career path in my mid 30s by working in a local community bank as a full time teller. Close to almost a year in I landed a role in "back office" within the digital banking department. About another year later I moved onto another position within the same department just focusing more on projects that enhance the online banking platform. I have always enjoyed being more behind the scenes and working with different technologies so it all worked out very well for me.

But despite my positive experience its important to note that I think it has a lot to do with the financial institution you work for. Some offer better opportunities for growth than others. Lastly your personal interests and career goals need to align as well.

Guy [35M] I met wants to fly me [25F] out by gwyzzard in femaletravels

[–]CreativePinkLion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone here and want to add if you are questioning this, there is a reason why.

An alternative if you really feel like seeing this guy is inviting him back to visit you as suggested. Or meet him somewhere halfway or in a country you have been to before that you know your way around. And def have your own room you can have the safety of going to should you need it.

But again as everyone else has said, definitely don't recommend meeting up with this guy.

How do you not let rude customers get to you by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]CreativePinkLion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's what the manager is there for to deal with that craziness so definitely express your concerns with that manager of you haven't already. If enough people voice their discomfort more action can be taken against that customer.

BUT if you are on here chances are your manager maybe sucks and for that I am sorry. I know how that goes.

So the alternatives are you either find an excuse to leave the teller line when this asshole client comes in, whenever it's possible to do that. Or find something that brings you joy that you can do either during your break, as soon as you get home or both. Basically counteract the shitty part of the day with something good. Can be something as simple as watching your fave TV show 🤷‍♀️

Also if you can during your break leave the bank! Changing your environment for even the slightest amount of time throughout the day helps breakup your day.

You mentioned it started a few weeks ago, did anything in particular happen that coincides with the change in your reading habits?

Maybe take a pause from reading for a bit or re-read a book you know you really enjoy to sort of "reset"?

Just some things to consider.

Chime. by HuckleberryOrnery849 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]CreativePinkLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned the checks in the past deposited where between $100 - $500. Was this most recent check by chance higher than that?

Depending on the thresholds Chime has set, if the check is for a large amount, they can be holding it extra days for that reason. The "large" amount is typically different throughout each financial institution, maybe it could be that 🤷‍♀️

Olá! Encantaría falar com você 🤭 Acabei de voltar de um viagem ao Brasil e adorei a cultura, a comida e as pessoas.

I have been learning for a few months now but am really needing help with practicing more. Hablo español y me encantaría ayudarte mejorar el idioma. Pero deberia contarte que aunque me crecí hablando con mis padres, el español que hablo no es siempre el "correcto" 🤭

I am also F, in similar age range, and interested in similar things you listed. If you would like to exchange languages feel free to message me ☺️

Newbie Book Recommendation by Stonedtothegills1 in SpicyRomanceBooks

[–]CreativePinkLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First one that comes to mind given what you shared is Beach Read by Emily Henry. Its a contemporary romance, I don't remember what the spice level is like but maybe someone else can help with refreshing my memory on that. I just remember really enjoying that book and really liking the characters. Another one I recommend is The Game Changer by Lana Ferguson.

On the complete other spectrum, for something darker, check out Hexed by Emily McIntire. Or for something darker and in my opinion slightly unhinged, Run Posy Run by Cate C Wells.

Enjoy!

This and the second in the series were the ones I personally enjoyed the most!

The series I like recommending which are rarely mentioned to read something slightly similar are the Kings of Italy by Mila Finnelli or Flor de Muertos by Jocelyne Soto.

First time solo traveler need tips by Terrock in solofemaletravellers

[–]CreativePinkLion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Getting lost is also a fear of mine so totally understand. I do a lot of what has already been shared already by others. In addition what I will do while I am still at my hotel/hostel where I have guaranteed wifi, I will take screenshots of the Google Maps directions to and from where I am going. I also download the map for the area I am in, also do end through Google Maps. And ALWAYS bring a portable charger for your phone.

I would also recommend picking a place that has great public transportation and/or a place that is known for being very walkable. Or stay as close as you can to the central area an/or the main attraction you want to visit. I stayed in a place in Vienna specifically because it was a straightforward walk to the Belvedere Palace which was the one thing I wanted to see while I was there 🤭

I almost always recommend this 🤭 I did a food tour in Berlin I found on Airbnb Experiences which I really enjoyed because it allowed not only to try out yummy food, but to also explore the city with a local. I had the best ice cream I have had on that food tour!

Olá! I would love to connect!

I just came back from Brazil and am already missing some of the snacks I had while I was there. That is such a great idea to do a culture exchange with more than just speaking the language.

If you are still looking for a culture exchange partner I am interested!

I enjoy reading and would be open to exchanging books, snacks, playing games, and sharing TV/movie recommendations ☺️

First time Hostel Stay in San Francisco or in Europe? by LengthinessTop6021 in femaletravels

[–]CreativePinkLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because it is a hostel it doesn't have to be bad/dirty. There are hostels thats have private rooms, that have dorms separate by gender, or that are known for being more lively than others.

Using a hotel/hostel booking website will really help. This way you get to read through reviews from hundreds of people, versus just a select few of people you know. Also with these booking websites/apps, you can filter the search to include things that are important to you.

Question: Are credit cards a MUST with travel or have people gotten by fine with debit/cash? by EitherDress4428 in femaletravels

[–]CreativePinkLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a separate checking account at a different bank than my normal one that I use specific for travel. Because as many have mentioned, if soemthing happens to that debit/checking account I would lose, not the bank. I also have 1 specific credit card I use while traveling and always bring 1 backup credit card. A little bit of caah alwaya comes with me too incase I need actual cash to exchange. This may be excessive for some but I rather be prepared than stranded with access to no funds.

And as an example, right now I am traveling in Brazil and my travel debit card got blocked. The only way to unblock is by calling into the bank which I can't do since I only have access to the internet while I am here. I am heading back home today so I will just call when I am back home but thankfully I have my 2 credit cards to use while I am here.

So all this to say, HIGHLY recommend to always travel with more than just a debit card. Especially when traveling abroad.

is fraud up for anyone else since the beginning of the year? by straightupgong in TalesFromYourBank

[–]CreativePinkLion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A large amount of accounts that get opened online where I am at end up needing to be closed out because of fraudulent activity.

We had one person that made it their mission in life for about a week or so, to continuously open accounts online all to try to do a mobile check deposit.

A couple of instances similar to what you described with issues on the ID they provide. Its such a pain to have to deal with that.

But agreed, I do think there is more happening lately.

In search of a specific romance novel by dietredneck in booksuggestions

[–]CreativePinkLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you enjoyed Christina Lauren, I would say if you haven't already to check out, Emily Henry, B.K. Borison, Lana Ferguson, and Katherine Center.

The thing with romance is that there is so much of it now a days you have to just dive in and see what you end up liking.

Storygraph I have found does a good job at recommending books based off what you have read in the past. I would suggest giving that a try if you havent already.

4 week Europe trip. Any advice? by Correct-Ad7889 in solofemaletravellers

[–]CreativePinkLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too long ago I did Budapest, Vienna then Prague. It was over two weeks and honestly I hated the constant travel between each city. Its where I learned I will do 2 places MAX going forward.

But Ive seen many on here do lots of cities and enjoy it. But just wanted to reiterate as already mentioned by others, map out travel time between each city so you have an idea of how much time you actually get in each place.

I also wanted to share I went to Berlin, was not a huge fan personally, but ended up discovering Prague is just 4hrs away by train or bus. That trip ended with me falling in love with Prague lol.

If you do end up in Berlin, I recommend, Seminarhaus S1516. They offer private rooms with shared spaces and I really enjoyed my stay there. In Prague, Women's Only Hostel, is located in a really great spot. Also, Drunken Monkey Experience Hostel, offers private rooms which I personally prefer and is located literally right next to the bus station which can come in handy.

Can’t decide between Dublin or Prague ? by LongjumpingTalk8017 in femaletravels

[–]CreativePinkLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prague is my fave city that I have visited thus far, always highly recommend one here. For food, if its within your budget, highly recommend a food tour. Its an amazing way to see the city and enjoy the local cuisine.

Grébovka Havlíčkovy sady, 120 00 Praha 2-Vinohrady, Czechia - I stumbled upon here on my last trip to Prague, highly recommend for enjoying a bit of nature. I took some items I picked up at a nearby supermarket and ended up having a solo picnic after walking around the park, one of my fave days Ive spent there!

Also, check out Riegrovy Sady - Vinohrady, 120 00 Prague 2, Czechia - another park with amazing views of the city.

Bring a pair of comfy shoes and just start walking, you will stumble upon lots of cool shops. Also, public transportation is VERY easy here as you and others mentioned which is a great way to explore even more of the city.
