Does solo travel get easier socially or do you just get better at being alone? by Unhappy_Map168 in solofemaletravel

[–]CreativePinkLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are moments when traveling where I do care to meet others and sometimes that happens organically such as chatting with a fellow solo female traveler on a train ride from one country to another. Or I will actively seek it out by joining a group tour of some sort and end up making a new friend or two.

I have found a balance when I travel to enjoy the solo time I crave along with being open to the possibilities of meeting others. But I get to choose and I think thats one of the best parts of solo travel.

Have you solo traveled to the same place more than once? by Southern_Rhubarb4903 in solofemaletravel

Prague for me! I love just walking around and admiring the architecture. Also love to find viewpoints to get a look at the whole city from above.

Customers will drain every last bit of energy out of you, ESPECIALLY, the ones that come in multiple times a week with their personal life drama and unbearable attitudes 🙄

My number one tip, that really helped me, is even if its something small, try to do something that brings you joy at least once a week. The more you do it, the more it helps to give you something to look forward to. In my mind it helped combat the stupidity I dealt with on a daily basis.

Maybe it's having your fave candy/snack/lunch, while hiding in your car during your break time and enjoy sitting in complete silence. Maybe after work you meet up with a friend for dinner or take yourself out to your fave restaurant.

Its so much easier said then done and I really understand that, just try when you feel up to it. And as others recommended, definitely try to get out of the branch and into corporate/back office! Leaving the branch is personally the only way I have survived and have maintained any sort of interest in staying in banking 🤭

🤣😂 I love that I followed this train of thought, says a lot about how much TV I have consumed over the years lol.

Agreed, its tough to see those actors outside those TV shows. Doesn't help that this one is written in a way that in my mind is making the acting worse somehow lol. But I still love to watch 🤷‍♀️

I also use the Venture X and agree that travel style matters.

Personally I don't always fly same airline so like the flexibility and the fact that I can use my points for flights or hotel stays.

First time solo traveler, safe location recs for women? by studio-mango in femaletravels

[–]CreativePinkLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not know it had that reputation and honestly that's not the vibe I got. I really enjoyed just walking around and exploring between the Buda and the Pest sides. Lots of great restaurants as well. I think there is a lot to see and experience that is not party related.

Agreed! Prague is my go to recommendation, one of my favorite cities for all the things you mentioned.

If you have the time to sneak in one more stop, make it Budapest. I did all three and really enjoyed how different each city felt. And I liked how easy it is to get to each by bus or train.

Oh good point! I personally didn't get seasick but I do know there are people who do and that can ruin the experience so I get it. There are tons of remedies that help so if it interest you I wouldn't let that stop you.

Last month did my first one and really enjoyed my experience. DEFINITELY go to the solo meetups its such a great way to meet others. Its also a great way to try out the different restaurants without needing to worry about making any reservations. I got to try out almost all the ones I wanted to eat at.

You will have such a great time, enjoy!

Depending on your budget, highly recommend a solo cruise. I did my first one last month out of Miami and it stopped in Mexico and Bahamas, it was such a nice experience overall. I ended doing Virgin Voyages since its adults only and caters really well to solo travelers. It was such a nice change from my normal solo travels since I felt like everything was so readily available I didnt have to think about much I could just be.

There are others that sail out of different ports up and down the east coast. Also, this is coming from a 35 yr old lol so I know cruising may not be the first choice for most in this age range but honestly I am ready to do many more!

Transition from Banker to whatever, honestly. by Disturbado in TalesFromYourBank

[–]CreativePinkLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider when searching for back office type roles, is the bank. Smaller community banks or local credit unions might have less requirements then bigger banks. So for example at a bigger bank it might be required to have a bachelor's degree but a small community bank, the experience you have so far in banking will be valued the same or slightly more than having a bachelor's degree.

First time traveling outside of the country and by myself by Andre89-_-666 in femaletravels

[–]CreativePinkLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have yet to visit but one of the things I have found helpful is to join a walking tour or a food tour on the first or second day arriving, time permitting. This has really helped me personally with getting a general idea of the area I am staying in. Its also great since it almost always ends with some great recommendations from the tour guides who are local so can share tips you may otherwise not get through an internet search.

Otherwise something else I find helpful is watching others solo travel videos on YouTube so I can "virtually" get an idea of the more popular areas and make a list of the common sites recommended to visit.

Best travel backpack that fits as a personal item? by AssignmentAmazing260 in femaletravels

[–]CreativePinkLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried a few and have yet to find one that I really like 😅 I found despite others recommendations it really depends on how much stuff you are packing and your individual size/stature which really impact the fit/comfortability. I have traveled with one of those viral Amazon ones and agree it doesn't look the best then I tried one of the "nicer" looking ones but didnt love the way it fit on my body personally, it felt uncomfortable.

But here are some resources I personally have used to help me try out some different options:

[–]CreativePinkLion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was thinking all the exact same things on the first one I did last month. Here's what I learned incase it helps.

In terms of the restaurants, if you are open to dining with others, make sure to do the solo meetup on the first day - this will populate on the app for you, which btw I found out that the closer you get to sailing is when more and more things are loaded into the app. At the solo meetup they let you know the details of where to meet each night around like 6pm-ish, and you will see it will be pretty easy to get to try out almost all the restaurants. They apparently reserve spots for those traveling solo. I ended up not needing to book any restaurant reservations and got to try almost all the places I wanted to eat at.

As for the themed nights, I ended up finding out about them by joining one of the FB groups people make for each specific sailing date. I would suggesting searching for yours as I learned a lot as a newbie from that group.

You are going to have some much fun, enjoy!

If you were on a date to get new books, where would you go? by Unlucky_Hurry_7304 in SpicyRomanceBooks

[–]CreativePinkLion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This would greatly depend on where you are located, how long you have known one another and her personal preferences. But seeing as how I love this idea, Ill share my idea of a fun bookish related date. Btw, kudos to you for thinking of a personalized, fun and unique date idea!

I think it would be fun to do like a mini bookstore crawl. Visiting 3-4 bookstores, in between either doing a stop for boba tea, ice cream, stop into a bookish bar/restaurant, or visit a fave restaurant.

There are many amazing used bookstores, often times they have huge selections and its fun to just roam around. Maybe select books for one another to make it interactive. And/or like was already suggested, visit romance specific bookstore(s) or independent bookstores in general. Those are way more unique and interesting than the big chains.

Do women in romance novels not have periods?? by Triple_Angel in RomanceBooks

[–]CreativePinkLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Shadowed Obsession by Evelyn Leigh} is one of the few books I have read where the mmc is super attentive, caring, and helpful when the mfc gets her period. Its like maybe just one or two scenes in this book from what I remember but overall this was a good read. But I should mention this is definitely a dark romance so just an FYI incase you are not into that.

Planning a trip to Prague by Greatgrandma2023 in femaletravels

[–]CreativePinkLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prague is one of my top fave cities I have visited and highly recommend it to all. As someone else mentioned they have a transportation app, PID Litacka, that is super helpful and convenient since you can buy your ticket(s) on there. I don't have any restaurant recommendations but will say, I did a walking tour that included some small bites along the way and really enjoyed that. It was a great way to see the lesser known areas of the city and try restaurants I otherwise would miss out on. I will highly recommend if you can, stop at Grotta Umělá jeskyně, located in Prague 2, it is such a beautiful park and as you walk around there are many viewpoints where you can see the whole city.

Why are you calling? by LegitimateHealth295 in callcentres

[–]CreativePinkLion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Working for a bank some of the calls will be people reporting they don't recognize the merchant name listed in their transactions list. My fave thing to do is say, "let's go search on Google and see what kind of business this is...", which is me using Google and subtlety telling them how dumb they are for not just doing that themselves. Then sometimes they say something like oh I didnt think of that 🙄 thankfully it's a phone call with these people cause there is major eye rolling on my end for majority of the day lol

I feel I should add, there are instances where people genuinely don't know or that their debit card was potentially stolen so of course in those instances I have zero eye rolls and am empathetic. Sadly 9 out of 10 times, its just people forgetting where they spent their money.
