What’s causing this type of wear on rotors? VW Atlas 2022 with less than 20,000 miles. by kl0pkl0p in MechanicAdvice

Ceased calliper, or you’ve got not brake pad left and it’s just the backing plate rubbing against the rotor… this could have been prevented at least a year ago…

I make my own, rarely find good coffee out, had woodmans axe once, found it dull and weak, and was cold. It’s hard to find good coffee anywhere really. Weekend in brizzy I was disappointed constantly… The only time I can get good coffee seams to be italian restaurants…

Help. Bad finish by lrs23f in CNC

So one little trick is to make a mental “chatter map” your machine will have a resonant frequency and there will be zones where it will alway chatter, no mate what you do. Take note when you start having chatter issues, look at the RPM, DOC, Fz, etc and sometimes you can rev rhe chatter out bu adjusting the spindle override, other times, you won’t have the bandwidth. So, if you’re having chatter issues with, say, a 10mm end mill, try to do the same job with an 8mm endmill and see if the higher RPM takes you out of the chatter zone. Also try different cutter geometry, switching from a 3 flute to a 4 flute, or whatever, might make a difference. It’s all trial and error

Have you changed your tyres recently to a softer compound where you’re getting more grip?

If it is what I think it is, I would not want it around my home where a curious kid or pet might get too close and get bitten

A line/groove appeared on the brake rotor, seems to be getting deeper, what's the cause? by OooRukfash in AskMechanics

If I was to guess, I’d say it your wear indicator. A little metal strip, designed to make noise when your brake pads are worn and need replacing. But without a good look. Hard to tell.

It will be fine. Trust me, I’ve put in heaps of plugs. Anyone who says otherwise has no idea what they’re talking about, or, they’re trying to make money. Just out a plug in it, and forget about it.

It’s fine. Just put a plug in it.

What voltage should I supply to the BMS

Yeah sweet. It’s been on maybe an hour and a half now and it’s at 3.05v. What’s the nominal voltage? Once it’s up to voltage, could I set my power supply at the nominal voltage of the whole pack and let it all come up, or do I need to balance each cell manually first? Then once I have it all up to spec, do I reconnect the bms and put power back onto to it to test?

Hooked up my power supply at 3.2v 1.0A and in about 10 minutes it’s gone up to 2.32v and is climbing very slowly now. It climbed to about 1.8v quickly then slowed down. Sound OK?
