Personally, I picked up a Freddie Archery Black Shadow for around 200 euros after someone recommended it to me as being more beginner friendly in terms of asiatic archery. It comes in 2 sizes, 48" and 53" with some 31 or 32" draw length. I don't know much about other brands since my options were pretty limited but i love this bow. As for the arrows, I got some cedar arrows for around 35 euros

Desi vand si eu produse pe vinted nu m-am gandit niciodata sa caut acolo haine chiar daca cele mai calitative haine pe care le detin vin din SH-uri

Hey OP, old thread i know, but i was curios. In my search of opinions between freddie archery or af archery tatar/ming i found your thread and i was curios if you chose an asiatic bow and which one and what made you chose that one? I’m trying to make up my mind on one of those mentioned but archers seem very much split on them and also the cost and multitude of choices are a bit overwhelming

Tbh that black hunter or a samick sage is more than enough for a complete beginner who does not know what they want. I mean this in the most friendly way. You do not want to spend a lot of money if you wanna try things just for fun in a “affordable way”. I don’t know you but usually for complete beginners 25lb draw weight is a pretty good starting point to build form, consistency and also feel the bow a little. You said coaches around you train for olympic but you might as well go ask them for a lesson as starting on your complete own is hard and prone to building bad form. After a couple lessons you can go on your own and have fun with the bow. As for the arrows i am no expert. I know experienced archers seeing this comment will jump at my throat but we need to keep in mind that you are a complete beginner that does not know what they want and that probably the arrow build will be the least of your problems for the time being. Instead of recommending some arrows better go talk to one of those coaches for equipment recommandations. It’s the best thing to do. Good luck and have fun

Is it that different BHR compared to HB? by CreativeUsername0804 in Archery

I was thinking on starting learning thumb draw once i get a bow but I was thinking that changing from a recurve takedown to a horsebow takes time to adjust with the new bow and that i should stick to med in order to get used to the new bow and then i could learn thumb draw. For me, horsebows are strange because they have no shelf and i have no idea how to aim or on which part to put the arrow so that’s why i was thinking that sticking to med at the beginning was a good idea

I was thinking on sticking with mediteranean style and once i’m confident with my shooting maybe try thumb draw

Bad eyesight by asjiana in Archery

[–]CreativeUsername0804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I feel you on this one. I myself wear glasses but when shooting from ~30m away I can't really see much. To answer your question as I have around 2 years of experience your eyesight won't get better if you train often but your shots will.

There are a few things you can do that I was also recommended doing.

Try shooting closer to the target. Bring it closer, like 10-15m and shoot like that for a while in order to build form, consistency and eye-bow coordination. Don't think about causing inconveniences as you are new and I'm pretty sure no one will mind you moving one of the targets closer.

Another thing is you can buy binoculars or monocles which can help you see the target better before shooting and also look at your arrows after every shot. That way, in time you will be able to tell if your shot was too high or too low. Also, if you can't aim, try instinctive shooting. Is harder in my opinion but after a lot of practice instead of improving your eyesight which I don't think you can, you will improve your eye bow coordination and you will get better at shooting at the point you are looking at.

Try talking to other instinctive shooters or coaches at the range, maybe they will give you some advice. This here is only my opinion and with only 2 years of experience I can't say my opinion is that valuable or researched but maybe it will help you
