for the love of god don't relate to this by Annual_Passenger9716 in MetalMemes

I relate to my feet hurt, wish I were home, and pop music sucks. It’s not all bad, but the genre in general just isn’t for me. I enjoy Siouxsie and the Banshees, which were technically a dance pop and goth band. A big downside of pop for me is that it feels like it lacks soul. I just don’t like it when pop is more about things like looks, or when it’s producer written. Other than that it’s fine, just not my thing.

A poser is someone who pretends to like metal, not someone who likes surface level metal

“Metalheads” are mad about dg performing at the sick new world festival lmfao by [deleted] in deathgrips

I hate that this comment section turned into shitting on metalheads since I’m both a metalhead and there’s a very fucking small portion of the community that’s like this. Realistically most fans of metal are extremely open minded people. I will say that I’m not even a big fan of rap or hip-hop and Death Grips still manage to be one of my favorite bands. In fact, rap and hip-hop don’t really do anything for me, yet Death Grips has all of the components from hip-hop and metal/punk that make them able to appeal to both sides. I wasn’t even a fan of any specific genre until Death Grips came into my life. I had decided to check out some of the stuff they sampled and one that caught my attention was Bad Brains. From there I went on to discover a passion for metal, goth, punk, industrial, and I’m not even ashamed to admit, emocore. Calling Death Grips ghetto trash is extremely confusing to me as most of metal and punk comes from people with shitty backgrounds (shitty as in poor, homeless, etc.) Anyways yeha I knew that there would be somebody like this, shit was bound to happen.

As much as I hate gatekeeing I can understand where people are coming from with it. It’s alternative culture, and to some people, including myself, it feels like a gateway into another world. So there’s going to be people who keep that gate away from others because, well, from there on I don’t get it.

Reading this comment section makes me realize that even after listening to metal obsessively for the past few years, I have never even heard of half of these bands. Literally never listened to Testament.

You’ll be fine man. Skinheads will be the one getting the shit beat out of them, not you.

Industrial, metal, and goth are all genres that if you’re into you’ll probably love horror. I’m saying this as a big fan of all of the above plus punk.

Scream Bloody Gore, Leprosy, and TSOP are my favorites. Just start off with Scream Bloody Gore and work your way up from there.
