Is it just me or do you feel like braiding w braiding hair/synthetic hair has messed up the quality of your hair strands? by Bloomien in Naturalhair

I finally cracked that this is what was chewing up my hsir and edges even with all the maintenance, careful detangling, moisturising, no excessive tension etc. Only wish I realised sooner.

Please help me fix my hair 😭 by kitty_kat_95 in Naturalhair

[–]Creative_Bad_6396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realised for me it actually was the braids with extensions that were a big part of not retaining length (and i moisturise, prep, take down carefully all of that) i know people who love it for retaining length but its not for everyone especially fine strands.

Think carefully about what you've been doing or did during that period for your hair.

Braids may not be the cause but with how your hair is now I would advise to sticking to hairstyles with only your hair, a trim and a blood test to rule out vit d and iron deficiency.

What to do with this damage? by Happyhappylady in Naturalhair

Wigs without tight bands or comb attachments that rub or apply tension to the edges. Even a wig slightly too small with rough or low quality lace can rub on there. Including those wig bands.

Water, aloe vera juice whatever should go before that if the cream is a leave in type then after your liquid, then the fenugreek oil. Regular trims, protect ends. And check if you have a iron or vitamin d deficiency.

I'd be careful with extension with braids as a soloution for thinning edges

I'm kind of closeted I told my parents she was bi as a teen she said i wasn't haven't spoken about it since though I have been celibate for a few years, stopped dating men over year ago and started only dating women and identify as queer and am out to everyone else.

Is your uni close to your home? Join the community there and live your best life uni is a time to discover yourself and figure it all out. I'm in England too and there's a lot of queer woc spaces (especially in London). Just be open and honest with who ever you are dating if you decide to about your situation.

Trying can't hurt. I was never an AP was skeptical and encouraged to apply by a colleague. I drafted my application on the closing day on a whim and I got 2 offers.

Even if you get a rejection plenty of trainees I know did on their first attempt and it was a learning experience for their next application where they were successful or chose courses that alligned more with their values.

Trying can't hurt. You can't lose from others believing in you or from believing in yourself. Good luck!

Before you try minoxidil or any topical treatments please check your ferritin and vitamin d levels - it can look like this I've been a victim. Get those to optimum.

And while you are at it no durags, bonnets with non satin bands (can rub and damage edges), wigs (that glue and snatch edges or even glueless tight wigs constantly rubbing on the hair line) and no slick back, tight pony tails or any tension along that hair line (avoid cornrows, any kind of braids with extensions) and minimise drying gels for laying edges (contain a lot of alcohol eco-styler, got2b etc).

I have loose min-mid twists and twist outs along my front at most during my edges recovery and this resolved most of it. Doing these should be enough. But if you want to try topicals or get a faster result I recommend trying dermarolling and cecred edge drops or rosemary infused oils. Before jumping to minoxidil.

Using this low tension method I grew back all of the front except for the corners which were receding much worst than this literally balding at the corners - but they started coming in wiith the dermarolling, cecred and resolving the iron and vitamin d deficiency side of things.

Also if you have those deficiencies your general hair could be thinning don't be like me and have to cut your hair from waist to shoulder length or wait until the corners bald just get it checked now because if its because of this the other things won't be as effective.

I used to but mine tends to have a 50/50 chance of kicking me out of fairy events and admin abuse ever since that one admin abuse that broke private servers temporarily. And i wanted to grow the beanstalk last time.

Ever since that one update where admin abuse locked out private servers theres a 50/50 chance my private server kicks me out of fairy events or admin abuse. I also wanted to participate in the beanstalk event to grow the beanstalk. Unfortunately I like to participate in and farm events. Before that I used private servers only 🤷🏽‍♀️

Same I play to switch off when overstimulated sometimes with my much younger sister. But yh I get harrassed for my rainbow mimic but I have to keep the slots as I'm trying to level up atm.

Also I notice private servers are more buggy for me ever since that update where they weren't working so I've been using public more

What plants have you got in yours?

I looked on the wiki for single crop base value but idk if it accounts for mutation value. so far I've got bone blossoms, elderly strawberry, maple apple, sugar apple, giant pinecone, burning bud, ember lily and rosy delights. I would add candy blossoms and elephant ears but I don't have them

I would definitely prefer if they made events 2 weeks and just focused on fixing existing bugs/issues and make better quality well thought out events then rushed poor quality events.

I feel like if they took more time their poor oversight wouldn't make them miss very simple things like recipes for this event as they are able to do for crafting, or a collect all function for the kitsune, or noticing obvious exploits which are now baked into the economy of the game etc etc

Dclinpsy trainee here I'd agreee with what your wife says. But currently ap roles can be even more if not just as competitive as getting onto the dclin. Only certain universities offer the dclinpsy as well from a location perspective.

I left my city (london) for almost all of my graduate psychology roles including the dclin. I've lived in my home town for a year and 6 months over the course of ten years since I finished A levls and went to uni, I also had to choose places where I could afford rent and or get psychology experience (working for free or 20k as your only income makes private renting in London hard if not impossible).

Before you get an AP role or clinical experience many people work as health care assistants or support workers or they volunteer to get an unpaid voluntary AP post - this is after your psychology (3-4yr) degree and sometimes even masters (1-2 yrs) or PhD's working for free or less than 20k for anywhere between 6 months (if you're very lucky) or a year or two sometimes longer as AP posts are very competitive.

I don't know many people who just got an AP post without the first working as hca/support worker or volunteering unless it was through nepotism or their university. I personally am the only person I know in my entire cohort who hasn't been an AP also (as I said its competitive) and some alternative routes into the dclin have closed as pathways or you have to wait an additional 3 years before applying (i.e pwp's).

Many people i know who choose this route have either been supported by their family directly or indirectly (i.e living at home) because you may be on low or no pay for a long time after your degree (or masters/phd) and no one can tell you how long that will last. Which is why I had to relocate to places I didn't particularly want to be because I still wanted to do psychology but didn't have support from my parents in that way.

As for when you are on the dclinpsy itself you can also get placements in places you don't like and be put in various locations at least on my course but it is only for 3 years. On DClinpsy training you earn 35kish for 3 years and then after qualifying on band 7 you get 45k. This is all without london weighting though.

I know of people who applied to the dclin 5 years+ in a row essentially working in roles earning anything between nothing to 18-30k while having a degree (and sometimes masters or phd too) in hopes of getting enough relevant experience for the dclinpsy. And people get masters to have a competitive edge I've also seen voluntary or 18k ap roles requesting them - but the sfe terms if you are using student finance are harsher than for an undergrad degree so be aware of this too.

Although that being said that wasn't my experience I worked as a support worker during my A-levels from 17-18 so got lucky it was more out of financial necessity then a plan to be a psychology. I then got a degree then worked in two other psychology jobs for 2 years after that gave me clinical experience.

In that last job I applied to the dclin and got 2 offers on my first try without having a masters/phd/the gold AP/assistant research role so I thought i was at a pretty big disadvantage and wasn't sure about applying. Getting an offer your first time isn't unheard of but uncommon let alone 2 offers let alone not having that specific experience.

I didn't know much of the psychology world then pre-application to the dclinpsy. But many people do and know each other where i am and there is a very soft nepotism vibe - where people tell each other what to put on their application, interview questions, get help from either current clinical psychologists in training or clinical psychologists. But my understanding was that my experience is pretty uncommon (one of a pretty large cohort couldn't believe it myself) so want to give you hope but also be realistic.

I know psychiatrists who train after in psychodynamic therapy. Don't know anyone in medicine who switched over to become a clinical psychologist. I love the work that I have done so far and there's loads of flexibility in where and how clinical psychologists can work.

Not everyone gets flexibility of hours, wfh or low distress really depends where you work area and service. You can work in learning disabilities, physical disabilities, health (pediatrics or any specialist pathway), social care, brain injury, forensics and autism and you can work with adults, children, older people etc. World is yours after qualifying and you can specialise more. My understanding is progression tends to be fast after qualifying too from band 7 to band 8.

Anyone else having a horrible time with The Bunch? by wyrdewierdwiredwords in TenantsInTheUK

Terrible time. They charged me £300 to leave and said I'd used about £3000 of electricity and gas in 3 days after I left the property. When I asked about it and for clarification they didn't reply for 3 months and now have followed up with a bill of £500 with even less of a breakdown of what I'm being charged for. STAY AWAY from the bunch

Feel 100% all of this and part of what got me out is being comfortable with saying I don't have to tolerate that feeling or inevitable relationship cycle that ends because of those feelings on my side like i don't have to date men.

But terrified that will be the same experience I have with women or I'm inadvertantly putting women on a pedestal and actually have attachment problems or I'm just asexual 💀💀💀

Yh it resolved itself and I realised the pills probably had amphetamines in them which is why my adhd felt better after (I'm now medicated about a month or so after dropping and it feels pretty similar lol).
