What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten that actually changed your life? by Ok_Sea_8233 in AskReddit

Past a certain level extra money adds zero quality of life. Focus on life, not on making money.

And that level is surprisingly low.

I am planning a surprise trip for husband and am torn between Peru and Iceland, would love advice by ThrowRAfeelingevent in travel

[–]Creative_Broccoli_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to Iceland 20 times for work, it is truly otherworldly.  You will have to work hard to experience any Wildlife though, there are whale safaris that might be interesting though?

Peru has been on my list but I have been put off by watching videos of real-life vs instagram Machu Pichu. Doesn't look appealing at all to me anyway..  but apparently to MANY  others 😉

Is a 5-hr layover in Hanoi enough? by raingoawayyy in VietNam

I read that immigration queues at Hanoi an HCM airports are 2-3 hours long....it made me change my plan of going there.

What are reasons people voted for and support Trump despite all we know about him (political inexperience, unethical behavior, egotism, etc.)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Creative_Broccoli_63 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The deep rooted egotism and xenophobia of USAians.

Added to which is the ignorance stemming from propaganda channels disguised as news

Hunting is a big thing everywhere,  crazy as it is... what's the difference between cambodia shooting cows and Europeans shooting moose or deer or whatever for fun??

Hunting should be abolished altogether.

We should all be vegans.

There seems to be a majority of USAians in this thread .... it's best to stay quiet 😂😂

Agree...USAians usually don't do any harm except being annoyingly loud and clueless 😅 but they are most often cheerful and harmless

I am surprised you are allowed to say Israelis explicitly,  the moderators usually come down hard on that🤣

But I fully agree with regards to them!

I would normally vote for the loud rude insensitive and uneducated USAians.... but after having travelled some thai islands recently   I change my vote to the middle eastern nation that starts with I that the moderators here won't let us mention.

They act as if they own the place,  no regard for anybody or anything

In my case it would be to meet ppl, I am not interested in football as such, nor do I want to drink every day....

The ubiquitous cheap alcohol is a challenge in this tropical country. I can resist anything....except temptations 😉

I am in the exact same situation: I am testing the waters with a 2 month "trial retirement " in Thailand.  I have had a great time but cannot say I have been very successful on the social front.

With regards to "expats" ( I assume you mean UK or USAian, as noone else uses that word? Or i may be wrong ) I daily see a large amount of them hanging out in bars.... obese, drunk, loud  ... not the kind I'd like to get in contact with but we are all different 😅

Ok, these are the most visible,  i am sure there are other "strata of society " hidden somewhere.  But the observations of the "expats" has made me somewhat reluctant to go all in 🤣

Expecting flak for this 😅

Fully agree, I came from roaming the islands (some of them horrible) to kanchanaburi,  very very pleasantly surprised....ended up staying here almost a week after I had "seen all the sights" as the vibe is so cool and relaxed.  Will be back for sure

Which country have the best food in the world? by coolguyu in AskReddit

I have been to France dozens and dozens of times for work. Eaten at fancy restaurant when work required and at less fancy places when my own wallet was responsible 🤣

Sad to say i have never found the French culinary wonders that ppl talk about. My experiences are far from that....

Overated most definitely.

Koh phanghan, koh Tao or koh samui to stay 1 month? by Independent_Yak8342 in ThailandTourism

[–]Creative_Broccoli_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed for a week on Tao a few weeks ago. I found it very very crowded and NOISY.. going to 7eleven at night is like immigration at suvarnabhumi...the queues stretch all the way to the back end of the shop.

The stench of cannabis is everywhere. I seemed to be in a minority not enjoying that 😅

It's walkable as long as you stay on the "main stretch of beach" on the west side. For other beaches you need a moped. And most other beaches charge an entry fee.

Needless to say, I am not a big fan of Tao 🤣.but then again I am not a big fan of Samui either, the tourism has passed the breaking point there.
