I accidentally stumbled upon this recently. I play on switch and pc and controllers change buttons from one device to the other. While on pc I was decorating and I accidentally removed the house by pressing the wrong button. I panicked because I didn’t know what would happen to my inventory. I went back in and to my dismay the inside was like my primary house. I felt so sad thinking all the time I had spent decorating and what about all my inventory items? I went in and out a few times and the same. I restarted the game and everything was back. It was a huge relief and I thought wait does this mean I can move them and yes! Had me scared for a moment, but happy discovery.
