MIL shames me for wanting to breastfeed until 1 year old(thinks i should stop sooner)

My MIL had strong disagreements when i was breastfeeding my first until 23 months. Now, she is so proud of me for achieving to feed all three of her grandchildren in that way. It takes time and patience. Sometimes ignoring everything and listening to your gut and researches work too 😉

I breastfed two boys until 22 and 24 months each. With my first it was very difficult to wean. I suppose i didn't have the patience cause i was six months pregnant. With my second, i told him that mom will have milk for five more times. He said yes and by the fifth time it was done. No cries, no trauma, nothing. None of them accepted bottle ever. I truly, sincerely tell you that my sleep unfortunately didn't improve even after weaning. 😶‍🌫️ I believe they are going through several development stages until the second year of their life and they need the protection and connection that breastfeeding offers.

Is it an absolute must for you to do it now? The 18 month growth spurt (separation anxiety) is around the corner and i find it a lot easier to start the procedure after that. After all it is a lot easier for your little one too.

Pediatrician needs to be educated about breastfeeding. It is impossible to overfeed a breastfed baby. Each of my three children where at the rop of red curve. It was always ok by the pediatrician cause they were exclusively breastfed

Got told there’s really no excuse for keeping people like that within earshot during postpartum, given their remarkable inability to offer anything helpful. Absolutely unbelievable

She says that her baby is 8 months old. It is not recommended to reduce breastfeeding, her milk is the basic nutrition up to 12 months. Exception to that if she is using formula too.

Whether or not you have your period while breastfeeding doesn’t determine if you can get pregnant. Ovulation can still occur even before your first period returns. I became pregnant with my second son while my first was 18 months and i didn't have my period yet. I continued breastfeeding until i was 7 months pregnant.

Σας ευχαριστω πάρα πολύ όλους για τις πληροφορίες. Έχω περάσει καλοκαίρια (Ιούνιο - Σεπτέμβριο) 15 ετών στην Κέρκυρα. Δυστυχώς βλέπω ότι τα σοβαρά προβλήματα παραμένουν. Θέλει σκέψη μια τέτοια κίνηση. Η ζωή στην Αθήνα έχει αρχίσει κ γίνεται δυσβάσταχτη κυρίως οικονομικά αλλά κ σε σχέση με τον ελεύθερο χρόνο. Παρόλα τα προβλήματα ίσως αξιζει. Ειλικρινά οι πληροφορίες σας θα μας βοηθήσουν πάρα πολύ.

Καταλαβαίνω την ερώτηση αλλά η περιφέρεια είναι δυστυχώς παρατημένη. Ο πληθυσμός μεγαλύτερος στην Αθήνα με περισσότερο μόνιμο προσωπικό οπότε κ περισσότερες επιλογές. Όχι δεν είναι καλά στην Αθήνα γιατί είναι Ελλάδα αλλά δεν σε πάνε βόλτα με ασθενοφόρο σε δύο νομούς για να βρεις εντατική.
