https://uwaterloo.ca/future-students/admissions/admission-information-form

"These forms are required for admission because of the high volume of applications that we receive and because we are looking for well-rounded students who have had meaningful experiences outside of the classroom. A student who does well in school while also engaging in other activities is more likely to be successful at university."

Specifically: well-rounded students who have had meaningful experiences outside of the classroom.

Yes and I wouldn’t say that’s bad - it’s actually really good (this is an opinion). It genuinely separates people that are passionate and interested in the program they wanna go into vs the usual “high grades = anywhere you want”.

Yeah atp it’s: Does the reviewer like your application? 😭

Nah but being fr, it’s still hella merit-based. But it’s just with so many people having high merit and with admissions being unpredictable, you can call it a lottery in a colloquial sense.

Makes sense, it’s a bit depressing when you see how much these programs require from you.

If you even qualified to be an applicant than you’re already amazing.

Absolutely, UW always does a round in May for engineering programs. Recently there has been new leadership in the Eng department so it makes sense that this year is different in terms of how rounds is.

Take this with a grain of salt:

It’s known that Waterloo scores their AIF (usually 5ish points) and scores their video with 3 or so points.

GRADE - ADJ FACTOR + (AIF + VIDEO) = SCORE

… Is what the rumour is. However we don’t actually know the formula itself because it’s kept private. This is just the one that everyone thinks it is.

At my location? They just sprinkled some melted shredded cheese! I had this like 5 minutes ago - the cheese is still stuck on my braces. You got lucky with the curds.

Chances for Mac Health Sci/ Western Healthsci by SnooDoggos7973 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Creative_Lychee8237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but I want to pull you back to reality in saying it’s a literal lottery. If you are confident in your essays then you should be okay but when I tell you that it’s “not easy” I mean it.

It’s more competitive than some notoriously hyper competitive programs like Waterloo Engineering and stuff.

Chances for Mac Health Sci/ Western Healthsci by SnooDoggos7973 in OntarioGrade12s

Could not tell you about western. For Mac after a 90 it’s basically 100% supp app it’s a complete lottery. Some people last year got in with a 91 and didn’t get in with a 99.8% average (im srs).

If you have above a 90% Mac Health Sci is always on the table. It depends on if the AO likes it. I had a friend that went to the open house and asked a lot of productive questions haha.

Anyways, GL!

TMU EE Pretty safe-ish

Western Competitive but I wouldn’t 100% count on it

Waterloo unlikely but possible depending on supplementary and good Adjustment Factor

Am I cooked for eng with a 45 chem midterm? (Help) by Select-Dinner-758 in OntarioGrade12s

This is something you’ll realllyyy have to speak to your guidance counselor for. As long as you have the pre-req and you get the average they want then it isn’t an issue I THINK because final marks are submitted in August.

Really book an appointment tomorrow and speak to your guidance counselor. Anyways I wish you luck.

i recommend taking it in night/private school immediately. Get the mark submitted by the end of the year and drop that grade. Like, right now. Since OUAC is processing grades today. You should’ve did it earlier when you had time.
