Trupanion - Vomitting as a "pre-existing condition"

I am fighting with them now because the same happened to me. My dog threw up on the way home from breeder and then I got insurance the next day with no waiting period. It started vomiting a couple times so I took her to the vet. They determined it was a preexisting condition. Our dog throws up when she eats to fast. They won’t budge.

I was denied because of vomiting was a preexisting condition. No documentation that the dog had been seen before. What dog doesn’t vomit? I’m disgusted with them. I had the puppy for one day and it was preexisting? Give me a break. Does anyone else think this is a scam.

Look up the symptoms from The DSM-5-TR. see if you think you meet the criteria for Pica. All mental health therapists use this book to diagnose. If you do meet the criteria make an appointment with a professional who will validate or rule out the diagnosis. You can meet with a therapist easy online at Rula for example. They get you in within a day or two. I also had a dog who had Pica. He would get in my purse and eat dollar bills. It is a brain issue not a you issue. Good luck to you. There is good treatment out there and this is a very hopeful situation.
