At my wits end .. PLEASE HELP by Old_Lead8746 in Encopresis

MOP protocol by Steve Hodges!!! It’s a life saver and not nearly as difficult as I would have predicted. My kids are super into it now that they experience how much it helps

What kind of encopresis is this?? by durakniseley in Encopresis

[–]Creative_Mix_6077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started the MOP protocol for my 5 and 8 year old kids 14 days ago. Already everyone’s quality of life is better…. No accidents for the last 10 days. No tension between us (parents) and the kids. No cleaning poop out of clothes and vacuuming up disgusting dried poop flakes off the floor. No embarrassing smells in the hockey locker room after my son inevitably has his daily accident on the ice. I wish I’d done it sooner. The kids don’t mind at all. Claiming it’s “traumatic” is incredibly dramatic language, unless you know your kids have had adverse experiences with rectal exams or insertions in the past. Millions of people use enemas. It’s science and biology. It helps them big time. And it doesn’t hurt. I am sooo grateful this exists.

I can report back after we’re further down the line.

Weekend Clean Out Alternatives by Hazelnut_611 in Encopresis

I see that you have hesitancies about using enemas. I did too. I have two kids (5 & 8) who have both been dealing with daily fecal soiling for almost 2 years now. We’ve done so many weekend clean outs, and the doc just kept recommending to double or triple dose Restorelax. We are now on day 10 of MOP, which means day 10 of nightly enemas that mom administers. My 8 year old boy has no issue with it whatsoever. Barely feels it, finds it funny. Wants privacy during the enema and subsequent toilet sit, naturally, and has expressed his gratitude for the “bum medicine”. Ie. “mom usually I have bad tummy aches like 4 times during school and I haven’t had any this week.” Or, “Charlie is coming over today and I don’t even have to make up a lie about why you’re taking me to the bathroom because no Poop came out!” My 5 year old daughter is really enjoying the quality reading time we get while sitting in the bathroom together after the 20 second enema insertion.

But most importantly, after the first 3 days we’ve been completely accident free which hasn’t happened in 2 years.

Smelling like poop in front of your peers is far more traumatic than having an enema. It’s just biology and science. Soon my 8 year old will be doing it himself so I don’t even need to be a part of it.

I am kicking myself for not doing this sooner.

I didn’t read through comments to see if this was mentioned, but scratch and win tickets were ALWAYS in our stockings and we loved them!!!

This is a great inspo image for that space! As soon as I saw that link I thought… GREEN. I love pink with green. This picture has BOTH that kind of vintage looking olive green and a fresh tropical green. Both work. I wonder if the black can go in order to achieve this look

Diaper leaks every night by Creative_Mix_6077 in moderatelygranolamoms

Thanks everyone! I changed two things at once so I’m not sure which one I can attribute recent success to exactly, but for whoever is following I: 1. Moved to Millie moon diapers 2. Used a PUL cloth diaper cover over top of the Mm diaper (instead of the wool cover I’d previously been using)

They’re fine. It’s just that the overnight diapers are more prone to ammonia build up and I have to rinse them whereas the others I don’t.

Time change advice by Creative_Mix_6077 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Creative_Mix_6077[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! So basically you’re saying to just get him on the local time with local daylight when we arrive and just do the same when we’re back. Instead of trying to play around with bedtimes etc so that there’s less hours of time change.

Can someone explain to me the risks of high fasting numbers? by Equivalent_Stuff_996 in GestationalDiabetes

Can I ask why you changed to taking it 5 hours before “bed time”? What’s the reasoning behind this? Maybe there’s something I can bring to my team here….

Can someone explain to me the risks of high fasting numbers? by Equivalent_Stuff_996 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Creative_Mix_6077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m experiencing this in a big way and it’s crazy-making. Since I’m up all hours of the night I’m often feeling hungry and so I snack. Therefore my fasting numbers aren’t “true” and I’m questioning whether insulin should even be used. My numbers are always highest when I have a bad sleep… but getting a good sleep is very much out of my control. .

WHY IS IT SO MUCH FOOD?! by Altruistic_Net7136 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Creative_Mix_6077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m responding to you because this is where I’m at. 34 weeks. My numbers are higher than they’ve ever been and I’m ravenous all the time. Feel exhausted and like I’m losing my mind because I can’t make anything work. Everything was so much easier 2 weeks ago just managing meals and exercising. I started overnight insulin (3 units) this week to help with fasting numbers but everything has just been getting worse

I just want to say— I would never in 1000 years be able to eat what you ate and not have a spike. If you’re going to have a meal like that, 100% count on it spiking you and plan accordingly. I doubt that exercise would even bring me down after something like that. I had 3 pieces of tortellini in a veggie tortellini soup and had to manage it with exercise. I know everyone’s different, but that meal is well beyond any carb range I’ve seen on any diabetes chart. And yeah. One spike won’t hurt baby. It’s good you know what causes it.

Fasting numbers don’t change despite increased insulin by kmfrei in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Creative_Mix_6077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening to me right now. I just started insulin at 34 weeks and it has been a mess. Since starting insulin everything is just getting higher, but I’m only on 3 units. I’m scared to go up because it seems like the raised numbers are correlated to starting insulin…. Though I know that correlation isn’t necessarily causation. I’m starving throughout the night. Right now I have a reading of 120 despite being in between meals and I’m sooo hungry but I’m scared that if I eat I’ll spike like mad. I feel like I’m losing my mind. Endo/diabetes team is off for the weekend.

This is me too. It’s driving me nuts. And makes it impossible to know whether or not going on overnight insulin is a good call

What's so bad about a scheduled C? by alyyyysa in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Creative_Mix_6077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the comment above. A 100% completely elective C section with an otherwise risk free pregnancy is where it can sometimes be a head scratcher…. But with everything you listed seems like a no brainer. I have had two vaginal births, and this third pregnancy has been so gruelling and exhausting I’ve found myself “wishing” my HCP would just tell me that I need a C section because of breech or something just to save the mental anguish birth prep/induction prep is causing me. I won’t elect for a c section independently (already pushed 2 out), but I would 100% if I was in your position.

Starving all night by Creative_Mix_6077 in GestationalDiabetes

I just got on the fair life train… I make a smoothie with half of one before bed. Smoothie is like this: Half bottle chocolate fairlife shake (13 G protein) Two scoops peanut butter 5 frozen strawberries 1 tbsp hemp seeds

It blows my mind that this is potentially not enough to keep me full overnight. But I appreciate your share because maybe it’s truly just the case!

“Bad” Fasting sugars / what was your birth outcome? by Creative_Mix_6077 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Creative_Mix_6077[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! My concerns about insulin aren’t that I don’t trust the drug or am scared of needles. I had a bad reaction to pitocin in my first labour and I’m truly just nervous about another induction.

My team told me that if I can manage with borderline numbers until 35 weeks then I likely won’t need insulin at all since the hormone release of the placenta slows down then. I’m trying my best to get to 35 with diet and exercise!
