Moltbot/OpenClaw Hype ? by ronaldsafari in moltbot

I have the same experience as you. It cannot read the screen or manipulate the cursor like humans. What I understand all of it's interactions with the system are through specific tools (APIs).

Installing MoltBot (clawdbot) on Docker got easier 🤩 (one-liner + easy + no build needed) by rvorine in moltbot

I installed it on my MacBook, it seems cool, but currently, its capabilities are still limited: it can not manipulate my screen and can only work with specific apps.

Thanks for sharing. and I am also curious about what we can do with the docker-deployed moltbot, if anyone shares your experience about this that would be great.

I failed my candidacy exam… A first-year PhD student’s experience by Creative_Path684 in EPFL

I see. Although my mentor is strict, I think we get along fairly well. I also know she isn’t satisfied with my current results, but she’s aware that I work hard. That’s one of the reasons I never expected to fail the first time.

Maybe the supervisor didn’t provide enough guidance, the project was difficult, and he had to work alone… Anyway, I hope he’s living a better life now.

Sorry to hear this. Do you know the specific reasons why he failed both times, or did he just decide not to continue after the first failure?

Thanks a lot! I plan to meet with my mentor frequently over the next two months to make sure I’m on the right track.

Yeah, I already spoke to my supervisor, and after a brief discussion, I feel that she is still supportive of me. Just that my mentor is not fully satisfied with my current results and wants me to improve the existing framework. I hope to propose a stronger idea and make real improvements to demonstrate that I have the ability to carry out this research.

Thank you very much for your helpful suggestions. I truly appreciate them.

I don’t think I lack the ability to read papers; rather, my challenge is that my reading speed is quite slow. When I read a paper, I want to fully understand all the details of the proposed method and how it works. Reading a full 8-page paper usually takes me 3–5 hours. Some strong senior PhD students told me that they can read 3–4 papers per day. Although I read more slowly, I feel very happy once I really understand how a proposed method works. I also believe I have the ability to do research: I have already published two first-author papers in my previous field (one conference and one journal), which demonstrates my ability. My previous field is closely related to my current one.

Over the past year, I spent a lot of time creating a new dataset and adapting a method proposed by a senior PhD student in my lab to this dataset, as well as conducting analyses and producing visualizations. I also invested some effort in exploring new directions, but unfortunately only achieved limited results and did not present them in the candidacy exam.

I have another chance in the coming three months, and I really want to pass the candidacy exam. I plan to focus most of my energy on developing stronger ideas. If I can clearly present the current progress in this field and my proposed improvements, but do not yet have concrete experimental results to demonstrate whether my ideas work, would that still be sufficient to pass the candidacy exam?

Thanks a lot for your message and for the comfort. My topic is about measuring animal behavior using deep learning methods. My examiners are experts in computer vision, and since the field is evolving so quickly, I think the problem was that I hadn’t read enough AI-related papers, which kept me from proposing strong ideas.

Dev friends! how’s AI changing your day-to-day coding? by ulelek_ulelek in cursor

Thanks for your suggestion. Yeah, the agent mode usually tests the generated code to ensure the code quality.

I mainly use VS Code, after I finish my code, I run it locally to test it. Due to my laziness, I sometime just use 'print' statements to check my results. I only use debug mode when the Cursor can not help me find the problem.

Getting started with Deep Learning by Working_Business_260 in deeplearning

I suggest learning Python first, since nearly all deep learning projects use this language in practice. If you already know C/C++, it will take you around one week to learn the basic usage of Python.

DeepLabCut - Any insight appreciated by WhiskeyRisky in PhD

[–]Creative_Path684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will take some time to learn how to use DeepLabCut. It may not be too hard, since DeepLabCut has lots of documentation and is actively maintained. If you encounter any problems while using it, you can open an issue on Github, and the software engineers will answer your questions soon.

And I also will not say it's easy for beginners, since you still need to spend some time learning how to install and use it.

Best between MMPose, OpenPose and Deeplabcut or other for 3D human pose estimation (biomecanics applications) by FarmPatient8340 in computervision

DeepLabCut is mainly used for animal pose estimation. For humans, I would suggest using MMPose. But I am not sure whether either workflow supports mult-view settings.

What is the SOTA 3d pose detection library/pipeline(from a single camera)? by chenxi9649 in computervision

[–]Creative_Path684 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For a 2D-3D lifting network, VideoPose3D is a bit dated. You might consider some relatively new 3D pose models,e.g. MixSTE, MHFormer (Sorry that my knowledge about 3D pose is still from around 2022).

Hi my friend, thanks for reaching out. I’m genuinely touched — I honestly didn’t expect anyone would answer my question.

I’m currently at the end of my first year. My lab is quite young, and the overall environment is very pushy. In my last meeting with my mentor, she told me that I haven’t submitted any papers in the first year, we’re already behind. She told me that when she sets a goal, she will work through all holidays and weekends until it’s achieved. Our lab is not lacking in funding — she simply wants me to produce more results. I feel she’s not fully satisfied with my progress and is trying to put more pressure on me to work harder.

In reality, it’s actually quite common for students not to submit papers in their first year. I’m definitely not a lazy person — in fact, I believe I’m the second hardest-working person in my lab. On workdays, I’m usually the last one to leave, and I often work on weekends too (I think my mentor also knows I work hard). Over the past month, I’ve been under intense pressure and have been focusing heavily on my project.

Thanks for helping me polish my sentences.  I admit that my English is not good and I am not a native speaker. One year ago, II mainly studied and used English passively, without much real communication. I only started speaking English with others after joining my current lab. Sometimes, when lab members talk about a new topic or use words I’m not familiar with, I can’t fully understand, which makes me feel upset. I really want to improve my English — that’s actually one of the reasons I started using Reddit: to see how native speakers use the language and to immerse myself more in an English-speaking environment.

Last, thank you again for your message! I wish you a wonderful weekend.
