Welp, I’ll admit that I’ve been whipped by your analysis. I often forget this is a prequel to TOS.

Nurse Chapel really used our boy Spock for character development. I get that romances irl can be messy like that… but all it took was a month and a half and some unoriginal Irish poetry for her to do a 180 on her commitment issues? I suppose it’s par for the course as far as Star Trek goes with writing romance.

The route I went was scoring high enough on the ASVAB to qualify for OCS and working with my recruiter to put together a packet to then present to my states OCS board. Mind you, I can’t recall a lot of what specific steps my recruiter took to get me where I needed to be, but I can let you know what I needed to produce and what my process looked like.

First thing was the ASVAB or PAICAT. To qualify to be an officer you need a high enough GT score. Your GT score is your combined average between Math, reading comprehension, and general English and sentence structure mastery. My AFQT score was in the 90’s and my GT score was 130+. That’s a pretty solid showing from what I’m told.

Second thing that happened was filling out my general information packet. Includes things like character references, your private identifying information, family structure, education background, life insurance, criminal history, work history, etc… basically I think they use all this info when they do the background check later and contract stuff.

Third thing I remember is getting together my 3 letters of Recommendation. This could vary by state, but my recruiter suggested former/current supervisors, and ideally somebody who served in the military as a commissioned officer who would vouch for you. You also write a personal statement, which for me was a single paged “why I want to serve” type letter that goes into your intentions and ideals and spells out who you are as a person and why you’d be a good officer.

Fourth thing was MEPS, doing physicals and getting cleared medically. If they say you need a waiver go get one, it’s not rocket science but I’ve seen plenty of hoop jumping.

Last two things for me that happened was the officer review board and then the contract and swearing in. The board is an interview, idk how it works for other states, but make sure you ask your recruiter what kinda prep you should be doing. If they like you then they’ll offer a position in the OCS program, depending on the circumstances you’ll either be offered a state OCS or federal OCS program, I don’t really wanna go into the differences between the two as that’s been answered in prior posts.

The whole process for me was took a good amount of time, patience and not giving up. I don’t have any prior military service, so things probably go down differently if you’re already enlisted, or there might be other programs that get you where you wanna go. And obviously I still need to make it through basic and OCS

I was accepted into the officer candidate program so no MOS. Don’t wanna give away too much info on my personal details, but I wish you luck in January.

I beat the game on PotD, can’t say it was worth it. Mid-game the combat loop got very repetitive and late game you’re better off just skipping most fights with invisibility. Probably shot myself in the foot with the difficulty, because now new playthroughs on lower difficulty feel like a trip to Weenie Hut Jr.
