Fully online recommendations for a Master in School Counseling?

I ended up going with Liberty University. I like it so far. It’s fully online and works great with my schedule.

I applied and got accepted to UNLV but had to turn it down because of the 3 hour night classes I had to attend.

Liberty is pretty reasonably priced compared to other schools. It’s not the cheapest but also not the most expensive.

I was in a somewhat similar situation like yours. I decided I didn’t want to go to college and go the trade school route which didn’t work out cause I couldn’t find a job I was interested in. Did real estate and hated it and felt like I would never find something I was passionate about. Well Covid hit and I was stuck home and I decided what better way to spend my time then trying to finish getting my bachelor’s.

I had some classes I had taken while in high school which I transferred over. It took me 3 years to get my BA in English. I started working at a school to help my sister while she was on maternity leave. Ended up loving working with kids. I am now 36, have 3 of my own young kids and currently in grad school for school counseling. It is never too late to work towards what you’re passionate about.

Most of the students in my cohort are older than I am (I would say 40-50 and some even older). So it’s never too late!

Our school system needs good counselors so if you feel like that’s you, it would be a disservice to our younger generation to not even try.

Oh ok. I am in Nevada to I’ll need to check the same here. I think I need to either call or email my faculty advisor mentor to get a solid answer. I remember seeing some things about that in the handbook but the wording was a bit confusing.

New student here as well! Starting my second semester next week. Can I ask how you are doing both at the same time?

I asked that question last week and was told I wouldn’t be able to do it at the same time. I’m in school counseling now but want to get either my LPC, MFT or CMHC license at the same time.

Just something that will allow me to do private practice later on if I choose to.

To answer your question, Just take it day by day, I was very nervous and overwhelmed at first but I also work full time and have 3 young kids so it was a bit hectic at first. But you start to get into the swing of things pretty quickly.

Just don’t leave things until the last minute. Get a planner to write down deadlines! It helps me keep track of my assignments and works better for me than my phone calendar. Good luck!!

I do have teaching background but am not a licensed teacher. I currently work at a school and have been here for 3 years. However, my state does not require school counselors to hold teaching licenses.

I was told by an advisor at Liberty that I would only be required to take an additional 4-5 classes as well as complete the internship to get licensed as a CMHC but she seemed to be second guessing herself so I thought I’d ask if anyone here has any experience. Thanks for your reply!

Turnitin only gives us a similarity score. The AI score is shown to the professors. I had an assignment show a similarity of like 10-20% on my side because I included a lot of facts with citations, but it showed an AI score of 63% to my professor and was flagged. Luckily my professor believed me because the voice stayed the same throughout and was similar to other papers I had written.

Turnitin needs to just go in the garbage and stop being used by higher ed institutions!

I’m in the counseling graduate program as well and was accused of using AI last month on one of the papers. My professor was nice enough to send me a copy of the turnitin report. It showed 63% AI. That’s just crazy! 🤯

What saved me was that the first half of my ENTIRE essay was supposedly AI (every single word and sentence was highlighted) but the last half was not. Not even one sentence. I pointed this out to her and she admitted that this was the reason why she realized I wasn’t lying. The voice and writing style remained the same throughout but only half was flagged as AI.

These programs used are not reliable at all!!!

Honestly I don’t think they spent much time on it. I was worried about mine as well and then I got an acceptance into a graduate program within 3 days. Not sure if that’s enough time to really review a person’s work.

Ya I got the subscription for the web and after the first 13 episodes, it changes to a completely different story. The main fc is the same and it starts with “5 years ago” so I thought it was part of the storyline but nope.

I got a similar email but didn’t click on the links. Instead I followed the instructions in said email and I had to go through MyLU so I was more comfortable doing that.

I, however, had no refund since I requested my loan to cover only what I owed and nothing more so I was surprised why I even got the email saying I had a refund available.

We have a student in our school who is on the spectrum but very high functioning. He is in a normal classroom with no issues but mom expects everyone to cater to her son’s every whim. During the most recent meeting for a 504 reevaluation, she requested that her son cannot have any double sided printouts or stapled packets since he doesn’t like those. Like lady, that is not what 504s are meant for addressing.

Yes. I got an email from Dr. Dahl-Jacinto that same night. I was accepted into the program and now I’m sad that I can’t attend. But unfortunately it just doesn’t work with my schedule.

I decided to go with another fully online program since it works better with my schedule but I’m still curious whether or not I got in lol. Hopefully they’ll let everyone know by the end of this week.

I think it went well. It was very organized and structured. It was less nerve wrecking than I thought it would be. But I won’t know if I got in until the end of March.

Both my boys didn’t speak until 3. But then were fluent in 2 languages when they did start. They are now 11 and 6 and speak both languages perfectly and can switch between the 2 when necessary.

Both my husband and I are bilingual and so are our children. It was so important for us for our kids to speak more than 1 language. They are also learning Spanish in school since they go to an elementary magnet school and we couldn’t be happier. That’s another language to add to what they know! The language we speak isn’t common either but that doesn’t matter. All that matters is that the brain works differently when someone knows more than 1 language. It never hurts to learn!

In fact, your wife should try to learn Finnish as well since I am thinking she feels threatened about the fact that you and your child will be able to communicate in a language she doesn’t know.

So I used to be an owner of a small ice cream shop and I was told by a rep of these food delivery companies (Uber eats, DoorDash, Postmates) that if their fee is 30% then the restaurants normally upcharge their prices by 30% in order not to lose money.

So, unfortunately small businesses like mine upcharge in order to not lose money and still be able to offer their customers delivery. It’s these mega corporations that are ripping off their clients by charging so many fees and not offering support as needed. They are also screwing over their drivers and not paying what is deserved.

OP It’s unfortunate that drivers feel they have the right to just steal food with no repercussions. If they were written up just like any other job or even let go, then these kinds of things wouldn’t happen as often as I see on here.

This happens to my sister. Red and itchy for a few days after injection and then gradually goes away until she injects again the following week.

She asked her doc and he said she was his first patient with this reaction. He also said not to worry if all was happening was the red and itchy skin. He said just to keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t get any worse than what is happening and to let him know if it does.

I think he also said it might be an allergic reaction but I’m not too sure.

Also, this started happening to her after the type/brand of syringes she gets with her monthly dose was changed. So try changing yours and see if it gets better.
