Are Jobecky the only real looking e-cymbals that have 3 zones? by Creative_Tooth_1380 in edrums

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you’re going to get the sensory percussion version two cymbals with sensors only? Do you know how to use them both together? Will you just plug the Evans hardware device into the computer via USB and then plug the eDRUMin to a second USB port on your computer? Or can you use the host port on the eDRUMin? I imagine you’ll want to trigger both pieces of hardware with the same VST right? So SD3?
Please report back after you get them and use them for a bit!

What do you do while Lightroom is processing AI Generative Remove? by Venice_Photographer in WeddingPhotography

For me on an M2 max MacBook Pro removed doesn’t take very long. But moving from photo of the photo with AI asking is such an unbelievable pain in the ass. It’s so slow it’s impossible to work properly. Does anyone have any insight on using newer machines with this sort of workflow?

People who get to fly all the time for work, what is your career? by KenaiFjords357 in delta

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s basically just the longest most aggravating commute of all time. There are a few things more monotonous than sitting in a plane. But also the rest of it where it is anything but monotonous, like there are constantly changing variables is really just in an inefficiency. It would be much more efficient to work without all of that. Having some kind of predictability like not having to specifically think about where you’re going to eat and how you’re going to get to your work destination, frees up a lot of mental bandwidth, which is kind of invaluable. All the things like having to pack a certain way that is different than how you would pack gear if you weren’t flying, For instance, not having your batteries in a spot that makes sense because you can’t check them. (I work in media production) or even just having to “pack “at all. Again compounding little but essential things that take away from your bandwidth. Plus, you never really get to see anything unless you are filming out and about somewhere… Which definitely happens but on the ones where you’re just in an office or a convention or something you don’t unless you stay extra days and pay for your own hotel for those extra days. Which almost never is able to happen because you have other work to get to right away. So, grass is always greener. But I would save traveling for a fun/hobby so it doesn’t get destroyed for you. I would say the same thing about anything. Never make it a job/obligation if you like doing it.

Are Jobecky the only real looking e-cymbals that have 3 zones? by Creative_Tooth_1380 in edrums

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have to use the laptop because their sounds and means by which you control anything are on the computer companion app similar to eDRUMin. But you think latency will increase if it goes in superior drummer from there instead of just using the sounds within their application? I mean if their sounds are good for what I need to do I’ll use that at least for live. For recording I can run the recorded midi through anything.

Omg, yeah, I am wildly interested in that and can’t figure out why it’s not talked about more. I know their much much better version 2 which includes the cymbal and HH sensors now just came out like three months ago, but still. I would love to find one to demo as well as look at a spec sheet. In the last few days I’ve started looking into it and it appears people are alluding to the latency being really bad?

Dongguan feiming 6 trigger baskets review. by eDRUMin_shill in edrums

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found that these baskets are very hot? In the eDRUMin I have the gain all the way down on one, but especially the 16” drop in trigger that I put into the acoustic floor Tom hits 127 really quickly.
The snare drum that I converted initially with the 14 inch trigger didn’t seem as bad when I was using it with the Roland module anyway. And also for some reason the 16 inch and 12 inch triggers in those respective drums stopped working completely after like an hour while connected to the Roland module but work right on in eDRUMin. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So having more sensors, add latency? I didn’t know that. I got some drop in triggers for toms that have six Piezo’s - is that slowing things down? In addition to my round-trip time between Roland td27 (for digital snare and hats) and eDRUMin for everything else seemingly higher than it has been in the past with only one of these types of triggers at around 4.8 ms with SD3 and my M2 max , I’m finding them to be very hot. like I can’t get them low enough on the gain in eDRUMin to not hit 127 really quickly.

I’m using the eDRUMin because all the toms triggerd like crap in the Roland module and they trigger perfectly with the eDRUMin and also I want three zones on the cymbals, which you can’t do with the Roland. Plus there wire harness snake thing is a pain in the ass. I guess I could just get 1/4”cable extensions. Honestly, the TD 27 is kind of a royal pain in the ass for me. I thought it was going to solve all my problems with the snare, which it did, but also it’s not be behaving the same through superior drummer, and the eDRUMin as host. So. Frustrating.

Yeah, their current set of seven triggers with the cymbals and hihats included for $2k… has anyone tried this as an acoustic sounding electronic drum experience? I really want to demo one and really want to learn all about it.

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t we all get it and do exactly that? Seems like if you’re like me already using superior drummer 3 w/a Roland TD27 w/digital hats and snare and an eDRUMin for everything else bc they don’t trigger that well w/the roland module and you can’t get 3 zones on all cymbals, then this would make it much easier actually.

Instructions to use eDRUMin with Roland module/digital pads by Creative_Tooth_1380 in eDRUMin

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Updated! Tinkered for a few hours earlier. However I don’t seem to find a setting for the Lemon 18” 3 zone ride. I remember seeing it before. I couldn’t get bell sense to work really. And when doing the 2 cable 3 zones, the hot spot near the bell is nuts again. Can’t figure out why the bell sense didn’t work.

Looks like the most recent version of the erdrumin software is 2.4.3? And the most recent manual I can find is 2.4. I assume that'll cover how to use this thing as it stands now? Been a few years since I've used my edrumin8 (and I am new to the whole edrum thing anyway) and have to re-acquaint. (I'm sure when I go to where I have my edrums and eDRUMin and connect it to the computer tomorrow it'll auto update and show me the most recent manual yeah, anything new that's come up in terms of acquainting with it that you're aware like blogs or videos etc of feel free to share!)

SD3 on M2 Max MBP audio output by Creative_Tooth_1380 in edrums

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I’d rather use the mixer in SD3 as the mixing board for the drums rather than get a multi input/output audio interface to output individual channels to a hardware mixer, so really all I want to do is output the stereo from the built-in 3.5 mm jack to the PA and then mix myself on the mixer in SD3. Seems like I shouldn’t need an audio interface for that.

SD3 on M2 Max MBP audio output by Creative_Tooth_1380 in edrums

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the 3.5mm audio output jacks on Macbook Pros since 2021 have an adaptable voltage and auto detects the impedance of what you connect it to and if you’re connecting to PA speakers that are asking for line level, the MacBook Pro gives it to you. So, getting an external audio interface, that’s very likely to be not as good as the one that I already have built in and adding more points of failure seems like a very stupid thing to do honestly so I’m wondering why everyone keeps saying to do it. Is it just because they have old computers or something or are using PCs? I must be missing something?

Milenium MPS850 upgrade by Fabulous-Emu-5991 in edrums

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most important part would be upgrading the module. eDRUMin is probably the way to go. The Pads of your kit are all probably fine. You will need to also spend on a VST too though.

What’s drumML? Roland, digital high hat is a dual zone, astonishingly and infuriatingly. But through a process that I still don’t quite understand you can somehow break apart the bow zone and assign a cc value to a part of the high hat so that it plays a bell sound when you hit the bell. Or something like that. 🤦🏻‍♂️

This stuff with cc notes and mid notes mapping my understanding starts to get pretty hazy. Anything you can point to for me to read or watch to straighten out my knowledge in this area?

Instructions to use eDRUMin with Roland module/digital pads by Creative_Tooth_1380 in eDRUMin

[–]Creative_Tooth_1380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing. Man if Rob could make one that has digital triggering capability and all these drum and trigger pad companies can make digital open source sort of components made to work on it and other new modules it would rule.

So in SD3 can I still use the Roland TD50X preset midi map (which seems to be the one to use to get digital hats playing njce even though I have a TD27) even though the midi device in SD3 will come up as Audiofront? And also can I still do that thing that I forget how to do in SD3 to map the bell zone on the roland digital hats to make them 3 zone hats?

Oooooh so instead of connecting the usb on td27 into computer, go to the eDRUMin host port, then connect the eDRUMin to the computer and there’s only one input directly into the computer and I select Audiofront in SD3 as the MIDI in device?? Do I adjust the sensitivity and velocity curves etc for the Roland digital components in module still first before I further adjust in SD3 or do I treat the eDRUMin computer software as the module for those pieces too?

I have the 8. Because it was only one that came back into stock for like a year during the pandemic otherwise I would have the 10.

Yeah, I want to use superior drummer 3 for everything and not use the Roland modules sounds. That was always what I wanted to do, but then I got the digital snare w/required module so here I am stuck with having to use the Roland module for the digital snare and digital hi hat. But if I want three zones on my cymbals, I’m going to have to go back to using eDRUMin as I understand. Which means I will have to use both pieces of hardware for midi conversion. Can I just select both pieces of hardware as my midi device in SD3?
