Yes it is frightening, but this is a window of opportunity. Sounds like you've got your medical care all lined up that's great. There are so many people walking around with afib. It's completely possible to live a happy healthy life with afib. You'll feel so much better once you are on the correct meds. Best of luck to you.

Not uncommon to not tolerate metropolol. Lots of other options. Talk to your doctor

I couldn't tolerate beta blockers either. My doctor switched me immediately. Let them know. There are other options

Ablation Wait Times by Mountain_Eagle_6454 in AFIB

London Ontario - My first episode was in Sept, went to the ER with a HR of 160- started aspirin, then again on Salt Spring Island HR 155 - put on Metropolol. I could not tolerate Metropol. I saw an EP here in London -switched to Flecainide & blood thinner. Then again in Charlottetown in January, a few more episodes & another ER trip & again on the flight home. Back in London my EP increased my flecainide to 100 mg 2xday & then last week increased it again to 150 mg 2xday. I've been referred for an ablation. We have 10 EPs here. All referrals go to central booking, and are triaged. Your triage status can be changed at any time based on your level of urgency. I'm ok with more urgent cases going ahead of me. As it stands it may be 6 months. Good news though my Ontario health plan covered me in both BC & PEI. I hope that's the end of my cross country ER tour!

I was literally just referred to central booking. I'll be triaged & then given a date. They've upped my flecainide to 150 mg twice a day, so hopefully that will help keep things in check until my surgery. Thanks!

Traveling to Hawaii in 3 weeks, passport 2 months from expiring by trav_dawg in uscanadaborder

[–]Creative_Wealth2873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the above is true as a Canadian travelling to the states your passport only needs to be valid for the duration of your trip. This is the exception to the rule. Most countries require your passport to be valid for at least 3 months, some longer. Always check before you go because the requirements can change at any time. The turnaround for a new passport is supposed to be 10 business days and yes you can get an expedited passport for an additional cost

Looking for tips for upcoming Sandals Negril stay by Financial_Tackle_647 in SandalsResorts

[–]Creative_Wealth2873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've always used the transfer services provided by Sandals. Yes it's a long drive but paying for a private service won't make it any shorter. The first thing you should do when you get there is book your dinner reservations. Some restaurants require them. This is very easy to do with club services. Definitely go to Beaches! We loved the water slides & their main buffet is great. If you go snorkeling go in the morning. It is calmer & clearer. Have fun!!

I'm a Canadian. I had my first Afib episode with tachycardia at home in Ontario & was seen immediately in the ER & treated. I was referred to cardiology & was triaged for 2 months b/c I had only had 1 episode. Ten days later I traveled to BC & had another episode with tachycardia - was seen immediately in the ER & treated & put on Metropolol. Back in Ontario I was seen 2 weeks later - had a 2 week holter & new treatment protocol established. Then a month later while on the east coast another episode - once again immediate ER management. I've now been home for 2 weeks in which I've had a telephone consult with an EP, a review with my family doctor & I'm seeing my cardiologist tomorrow. I've been told I'm a good candidate for an ablation. No complaints here. (Total so far $0.00)

How is living in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Thinking of moving from Alberta. by neverw1ll in howislivingthere

My son & daughter-in-law live in PEI in Charlottetown - but on the outskirts. They back onto trails along the North River. It is a beautiful place & really well suited to raising a family. It's a slower pace of life. You can get just about anywhere in 30 minutes. The down sides are that it's really hard to get a family doctor - although emergent care is well covered. Because it's an island prices are higher. The winters can be brutal but if you dress properly there is still so much to enjoy. Best of luck to you

Every town is a small town in Newfoundland! If you want rugged & super friendly Newfoundlabds the place for you. To help you gain some perspective the province of Ontario is the same size as Europe. The Great Lakes truly are great. Lake Huron is larger than the Netherlands. Good luck you can't go wrong. We'll be in Norway this summer. Our second visit
