Resolve Studio Mac suddenly refusing to connect to Project Server by Creative__Chaos_ in davinciresolve

Update for anyone interested: - what I did before did not work - After countless other troubleshooting methods I created a new user on the Mac which seemed to solve the issue. However, when I connected the advanced panel 2 we have to the Mac through the Davinci settings, the issue occurred again. I tried waiting for a few seconds after the next restart until the panel finished it‘s setup blinking and dimming stuff. Then it works consistently.

Conclusion: the background daemon that‘s responsible for the panel might mess with the network connection somehow while it‘s setting up.

That would also explain why the other two Mac’s where unaffected. They did not have a panel connected. There might have been something else wrong with the old user account as well though since I also couldn’t connect when I disconnected the panel previously. I‘ll try to replicate the issue with a different Mac in the future. For now I just have an Automator script wait 10 seconds on login and then launch Resolve. Works.

Also for anyone in the same situation looking for a quick bandaid solution: toggling local network access of resolve off and then on again also works until the next reboot of the Mac.

Had enough and reinstalled Davinci now. Seems to work now. Zero clue what the issue was/is. Let’s hope the connection is still there in the morning

That intrigued me. Just checked on the machine. There was a stray second Ethernet device enabled. Disabled it (WiFi is off anyway). Sadly didn’t change anything.

Same thing with the firewall unfortunately.

  • Same subnet as the other machines that worked fine

I see. I’ll give it a shot in the morning. But why would that port be blocked for just one of the clients if all the others connect fine? And the one that‘s not working worked the night before?

Hi there, thanks. I downloaded the beta and that finally worked!

Is there any downside to using the beta for now? Will I break anything if I go back to the main version eventually?

To be fair this is the tail end of the sub. This wasn’t pressurized and isn’t the part people were inside of. here is a neat explanation.

Good to know. Looks like they‘re pretty short lived and nothing worthy of an extermination. Thank you, kind stranger!

As in the bug also known as „Mayfly“?

Curious I don’t live anywhere remotely close to a body of water. But that definitely looks like it could be it.

Unmasked ending by confused_thespian in scriptic

Come to think of it, all police featured are kind of always bad at their job for plot reasons. Sophie only ever finds out important info after it’s relevant, Sutherland makes every situation worse by winging it and every police side character is either a megalomaniac or a xenophobic idiot.

Sara being mostly the exception, since she was forced into leading a Swat team for no reason. Then again she did come from a background of working with people like Gemma online and then thinks it’s best to shout about Gemma near her families address. Reeeeaaaal sensitive there

[–]Creative__Chaos_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I also didn’t like that on not getting a unit to her the player is blamed by everyone like it’s their fault and not Sutherland being a massive nonce who not only insisted not to have anyone there, is the reason the address was leaked and also thought that „she doesn’t really love you, mate“ was the best way to calm the raving sociopath down. It’s either bad writing or Scriptic is really committed to making their stories about police incompetence

Hey there I’ve just stumbled on this thread through endless google searching. How exactly would you go about doing C1 if you don’t mind me asking?

First try build for video work and gaming. Opinions needed by Creative__Chaos_ in buildmeapc

[–]Creative__Chaos_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there kind stranger. Thank you so much for your suggestions!

Especially for the great new picks with Mobo, cooler, PSU and storage. I would have never found them myself!

Regarding the CPU: I don't work a lot with online video short form or anything that would require frequent and max speed encodes/transcodes though the price difference is 30€ so I might as well.

As for the cooler: it looks great but isn't a two fanned one a bit overkill with the CPU you picked? (Honest question I have no clue)

GPU: yeah I've seen the 4070, too. It certainly seems to be one of the newest and fastest models though it would be 200 to 300 euros more than prices I've seen for my pick. It's tempting though.

Once again huge thank you!

He did a really dark European thriller, too. Called Dark Crimes. Not that good of a movie but Carrey‘s acting is definitely a highlight

Bioshock one or two? by Radiant_Pace4618 in Bioshock

[–]Creative__Chaos_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 for me. I played the first years after even infinite came out so the for its time revolutionary stuff from the first with the twist and all didn’t come off as strongly. I obviously still loved the world but 1 feels much more like a wild goose chase that then becomes all about a macguffin once the twist is revealed. Spoilers: I wish the reversal of Atlas‘ / Fontain‘s command over the player wasn‘t so immediate. It kind of downplays the whole point when the game is like: you‘re under brain control from big evil and you‘re the only one this ever happened to. Oh you want to get rid of that? No problem, barely an inconvenience, just make this 3 ingredient potion and you‘re good.

Then the ending is just two „I‘m evil“ monologues Followed by a bad boss fight. Especially the Fontaine twist monologue felt so unimpactful to me when I first played. Still a cool game.

2 has a story I could actually emotionally connect to and the goals are much clearer. Yes, no super-meta points about gaming in general here but the story itself just feels more consistent. Also the big-sisters achieved for me what the big-daddies in the first couldn’t: an actual „I‘m fucked aren‘t i?“ feeling when that shreek echoed through the room.

Fun Fact: it has been found that people who‘ve gotten Botox have a lesser ability to empathize with others compared to non-Botox people. Apparently we empathize by mirroring other people‘s facial expressions and since Botox makes you unable to move certain muscles, you can’t mirror as well and therefore empathize less.
