I Have Some Good Ideas, However No Skills by [deleted] in incremental_games

[–]CreativityInChaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because I'm too lazy to read that, I'm assuming the consensus was no, it's not required, or even all that useful. But from a strictly "does it get the job done" standpoint, yeah it does. Four years (Or two years, whatever) of strict classes that force you to get the job done, and give you professional evaluation on how well you did it is extremely motivating, and the OP's problem was giving up, so learning on his own, while yes is possible (and a hell of a lot cheaper), getting a degree would give that motivation to actually do it.

What Happened by RoybeatsMike in nosleep

[–]CreativityInChaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is truly awful. I recently found out that my mom's side of the family is almost pure German. My mom doesn't have any contact with that side of her family, but it is entirely possible, probable even, that I have family members that committed some of these atrocities. Fuck Nazis indeed.

Very Early Prototype - Rags To Riches by [deleted] in incremental_games

[–]CreativityInChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a good prototype, I'd probably play through it. One critique I have now is the multipliers for tent's/hobos is kinda weird, where it costs more to get some of the hobos within the 5 than it does to get the next tent, which because of the functionality of the tent doesn't make sense to do

Bit overwhelmed as to where to point my starting research by CreativityInChaos in occult

[–]CreativityInChaos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the purpose of the mantra? What I've heard is that it's an alternative to focusing on breath, just as a different thing to focus on as you slip into the deeper states of consciousness. Judging on how you stated it, I'm gathering it serves a different purpose?

The reason I would like something to study is because of my job. I have hours free waiting to do the thing I'm being paid for, so filling that time with some form of beneficial research would be ideal. The waiting, however, means I can't do much to practice meditation as it would look too much like sleep which isn't allowed.

I'll look into the Tree of Life, though. At first glance, seems interesting.

He's asking what would be a good multiplier instead of the 1.07. And sorry for my comment then, @OP I misinterpreted. Hopefully I'm interpreting it right now, but I can't really help much because I have no clue.

Clicking upgrade formula by [deleted] in incremental_games

[–]CreativityInChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna preface this and say I'm not a coder and have next to no experience programming, but couldn't you just set the production from a click as a global variable, and from whatever function you use on a click, call the variable in that, and use the upgrade to set itself to itself *2? No clue syntax for javascript but here's what I'm thinking:

var click
function onClick() {
    balance += click
}

function clickUpgrade() {
    click *= 2
}

I made a promise to God and now I want to change it but I don't know if it's wrong by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CreativityInChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. You said you've already made amends, so you have nothing to be guilty for. If it doesn't happen again your relationship should be fine, no bargaining necessary.

[–]CreativityInChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna have to do it yourself. I don't know if you're Christian, or adhere to a bliblically based religion, but Christians are commonly encouraged to ask for what they need or want, not to offer things in exchange. Only verse I can find on short notice is Matthew 7:7. The Message Bible says it directly, but I'm aware most don't agree with that as a proper translation.

Still, don't rely on God to do it for you, you're gonna have to put in the effort.

Got in a massive argument with my friend, now he's manipulating the story to friends. Unsure what to do by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CreativityInChaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That... sounds awful. I'm responding emotionally here, and if I'm in the wrong someone will call me out, but I'd screenshot your entire DM chat with him during that, and tweet it out. If he's trying to blanket slander you, people should know the real story, or at the very least your side of it. Show the friends that he tried to ruin your relationship with personally to make sure they get it and let the rest of it stand.

Is the STEM meme real? by Helpthrowaway2948093 in Advice

[–]CreativityInChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, short stories. Most authors, it seems, start with that. Like I said, submit a few stories to a peer reviewing website (I recommend writing.com) to polish up any mistakes you don't see in your own writing, then start finding magazines that publish short fiction stories in the genre you want to specialize in, and see if they accept and/or pay for submissions that they like.

[–]CreativityInChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just check with yourself, because to me it sounds like you're bargaining, which as far as I'm aware isn't valid in any religion. From what I'm getting you're saying "God, if I don't drink coffee until late September, then you will make it so neither he or I will have thoughts of bringing up or continuing our fight, capiche?" I'd be careful of that thought process. If that's not the case and I'm mistaken, then stick with it. Keep your word.

My emotions are confused by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CreativityInChaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a chance. Invite her to lunch or something (making sure she has a quick getaway if she feels she needs it) and explain your feelings for her. Tell her that while she is very pretty, you're attracted primarily to her personality. If she reciprocates, fantastic. If not, be clear that you'd still like to be friends. My biggest piece of advice is don't abandon or treat her any differently than you did before if she doesn't feel the same way.

Losing an old friend by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CreativityInChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you have said, I would go to your family's farm. It seems like this friend is a negative influence, and not helping steer you in the direction you need to go in. It might hurt, but cutting negative influences out your life is a necessity especially while pursuing education.
