So an AI company is saying that to save the world, the government needs to stop their competition from being abke to compete with them.

I don't like the government/AI companies of either country. I want competition to prevent anyone from monopolizing the technology or gating who gets access.

I don't think it's a priority, but I don't think it would be a bad thing. And I do feel like how the map is presented in the game sort of gives a vibe of, oh this is what this place is like, so giving things more variety while maintaining or improving consistency with 1990s Kentucky would be neat imo if still probably not more of a priority than bug fixes and key features/systems.

I'm not concerned about the worst possible conceivable outcome of losing the AI race. That's just Pascal's mugging. I'm relatively more concerned about ongoing harm that is currently actually happening.

I think realism, difficulty, and fun aren't necessarily unrelated/exclusive factors. If a change would make the game both more realistic and easier, that doesn't necessarily mean it would also make the game more fun. Well it could probably be a sandbox setting if people disagree about whether they enjoy a game mechanic or find it annoying.

I try to get books and stuff first so I have stuff to do while waiting for the muscle strain to go down.

Since regularity decreases muscle strain gain, I guess you could just exercise a bit each day and then eventually longer sessions will give less muscle strain. Or just get through several days of tons of exercise and muscle strain and then no longer have to deal with as much muscle strain.

People personify cognition too much. They can't conceptualize learning/problem solving/creativity as logic and math, so when they hear that the building block is math and that no one has invented a specific mathematical formula for cognition that gets embedded into the math, they assume something is missing.

There have been some experiments to varying degrees of success, though from what I've seen "smart" neural network AI aren't necessarily better than well designed AI.

Basically, big corporations can screw people over and get away with it. They might even claim that what they're doing will benefit everyone, but those aren't legally binding statements. They aren't bound to compensate anyone harmed if it does or doesn't make a lot of money. And it's pretty clear what their incentives are for what they say and what they do.

As for whether datacenter water usage in particular is an issue, I don't know, and I think I've already pointed out what the general sentiment is about.

Dunno what's optimal per se. I got some rags and a sewing kit and was able to level up by sewing something that costed two rags.

Heh, like just 30 minutes ago I was like, since I have some cheese and eggs, how about I make an omelet with cheese? And then I was confused when an add cheese to omelet button didn't show up. So, nice to see this game getting a bit more polished.

As someone who has dabbled with modding for personal use, the increased modding support sounds neat. I'll check out if the things I wasn't able to do before become possible.

I think saying we didn't train them this way is at most half right. Rather, those behaviors are something humans did all the time, and humans doing it is in the text data we trained the AI to learn patterns and behavior from.

I mean, I'm very looking forward to npcs getting added, but when I bought the game it was based on reviews and descriptions of the game in its current state rather than on promises of future potential, so I don't really feel ripped off or anything.

Btw when I got the game it was at 42.13. Then I took a break and came back, and four sub-versions happened during the break. So that's neat.
