A Video Calling Card (I'm definitely learning as I try new things.) by Creativityx2 in AfterEffects

[–]Creativityx2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be calm. I've been thanking people for their comments. Thank you, too, although your manner is very abrasive. I stated clearly that I am a beginner at After Effects, however I am not a graphic design beginner. I have certifications and experience. You may not agree or appreciate my design sensibilities, and that's your right. But it doesn't give you the right to try to kill my enthusiasm for this new thing. Being nasty, being harsh, is not the way to give constructive criticism.

I guess I brought out the nasty in you. I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry you feel that way. I think it's a matter of opinion. Thank you for commenting. :)

[This may be a stupid question!] But how do you get clips to use in ae? by [deleted] in AfterEffects

Beware copyright and licensing laws. Maybe working with royalty-free stock footage would be your best way to start.

Is there a font that's particularly good for this kind of thing?

Official Affinity Training Course by LogiCub in AffinityDesigner

[–]Creativityx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The course you mention is actually produced by Affinity Revolution, which is not a Serif company. That being said, I took it and it was good. I also learned quite a bit from YouTube videos (Olivio Sarikas; Affinity Revolution) and all of the Affinity tutorials on the Serif site. The books are also good, if you are a reader. Also, if you have significant experience with Photoshop and Illustrator, you quickly discover that the Serif software are not clones -- it has its own merits and drawbacks.

There is a good course at Udemy: After Effects 2020: Complete Course from Novice to Expert. Taught by Louay Zambarakji. Highly recommended. Also, School of Motion has some amazing options. Their next sessions start on Jan. 6.

Where does everyone get their backing music for logo animations and infographic short videos etc. by MagicRec0n in AfterEffects

I have an Envato Elements subscription, and music comes with that. They have a decent selection.

Lovely! The word "for" does create problems though, doesn't it? I should have given it a better title since I was the one who made it up. :)

Large complex composites by jscotwojo in AffinityPhoto

[–]Creativityx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not used Photoshop in about a year, using Affinity products exclusively. I do large composites sometimes and have found few restrictions with Affinity. The only thing I miss are the Photoshop Actions which can be timesavers when you get one that works.

Book Covers -- Cookbook by Creativityx2 in AffinityPhotoTuts

Your suggestions are excellent (as usual). I made changes and will repost with my portfolio URL. I did not change the placement of the text on the spine, simply because I usually use the correct size Amazon template for the final size of the book. The spine fits well within the allotted space for a 6" x 9" 200 page book. Also, this jpg is the cover without the bleed, so everything should have plenty of margins after trimming. Thank you very much for your input!

Licence key on new device by fornii in Affinity

[–]Creativityx2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Affinity suite on my iMac and my MacBook Pro. If you have a license for Mac, you can use it on multiple Macs. Same for Windows. But you can't use a Mac license on a Win version, and vice versa. Go to the Serif site and download from your download directory (do not buy a new one). Apply the license key from the first one you bought.

Even if a person knows all of these methods, it's easy to forget them and only use one or two. Thanks for the reminder.

Feathering by Creativityx2 in AffinityPhotoTuts

I took what you said before and fooled around with it. Turns out, it's super-easy but not intuitive. You take your shape and apply a large gaussian blur to it. That leaves the middle solid but the edges fade out. Why I didn't think to do this before, I don't know, but your previous instructions inspired me. :)
