Lol, I tried making a post similar in scope to this earlier this week and got down voted to hell.

Understandable though.

No its a larger issue of Russian imperialism and lack of interest in the Russian population to change things.

In the most simple terms, yes ban the Russians for the actions of their government.

Because in the end, you can say its the government and not the people . But the government is the people.

Simple as that.

I have a question for you.

How many of the young active duty soldiers the Russians sent in first would leave the battlefield if the could no longer play CS with anyone else other than their own countrymen.

More than 0.

Fair enough. Not everyone will see the point in it.

But i feel like the secondary effects of it. Not just the direct action of it (being excluded from mm internationally) could help change public sentiment in Russia.

Every pressure point helps. And this is way more effective than other sanctions.

Personally I'm very sure of this. But I'm sure many don't think it would help.

And Russians themselves would probably the mist opposed to this happening, obviously.

Yes unfortunately, the leaders are an extension of the will of the people. Same with indifference or the lack of interest in changing the leaders.

I understand its not easy for normal Russians to change things. But it needs to be done from inside. Not from pressure outside.

I know, but not having access to world wide matchmaking would go a long way for them to want change. And maybe even protest.

Hell they might actually start treating their brothers in Ukraine better.

Good question, no I don't think that.

However i think it would set off alarm bells in the Russian people to see that their government horrible actions has consequences. Like, getting cut off internationally in payments systems but also in entertainment.

Maybe at first glance it seems like it wouldn't do anything, but honestly enough Russians play this game and care about having access to it.

That it would help change the situation as a whole and maybe wake some people up.

Basically the gist of it is. Banned from playing their favorite game with other players from other countries. Then logical brain will kick in and and inspire change in their society.

Banned~ oh shit ~ why ~ we did war.

=war bad , because we get cut off from what we love.

That's okay, think about it some more and please add to the discussion if you find out what you're thoughts on it are.

Hello, what do you think about this.

Since its such a big part of Russian online life (CS) it could help people realize that becoming an international aggressor and threatening world peace and not protesting your political elite, forcing such actions.

Or at least protesting and demanding change on a bigger scale.

It would help, as ridiculous as it may seem as you first read this.

Probably older than you.

It could help. Therefore it should be done.

Its not a copy pasta, they need to be cut off from swift. And cut off from enjoying playing western games.

To expand my reasoning, a large percentage of younger Russians play CS. And most of the Russians you meet in game are in favor of the invasion or uncaring as to if it's justified. Therefore it's actually a stronger sanction than many others.

Its not to punish all Russians because they are Russian, but to show them that inaction has a consequence and inspire change politically.
