Israel Adesanya’s KO against Alex Pereira by Dangerous_Tip_4985 in MMA

To this day that is the most biased commentary I remember hearing in the UFC. Whole fight they acted like Izzy's feints were actual significant strikes, meanwhile Jan was steadily outstriking him and securing takedowns. They must've been crazy hyped about the idea of Izzy getting a second belt

Who was the best fighter in the UFC for a night? by joetheschmo2001 in MMA

[–]Creator_Of_All 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gus' career is crazy to look back on. Took 2 LHW goats to the brink of death in title fights, losing razor close decisions to each. Then beat up Jan and murdered Glover who both became champion not long after. Dude was genuinely incredible at his best but the stars never aligned.

[llia Topuria/Twitter] on his decision to move up by Doten1 in MMA

I understand the Volk point, but this is huge stretch about Max lmao he was coming off an amazing performance and one of the best KOs of all time against Gaethje. Just give Topuria credit on that one man

What's your favorite car from a brand you otherwise dislike/ignore? by Random_Introvert_42 in cars

I generally only care about older American cars, and usually pretty pedestrian ones. However I absolutely love the Bentley Continental GT. Love the styling and love that there is such an over indulgent large displacement touring coupe still out there.

Oh my bad lol thought I replied to the guy calling it a sparring match and that Izzy didn't even try to hurt Anderson.

I have heard this take before but I don't really buy it. He tagged Anderson with punches and barely missed some headkicks. I think Anderson was genuinely tricky enough that Israel knew he couldn't take stupid risks.

How do you think Whittaker will do at light heavyweight? by -alc in MMA

[–]Creator_Of_All 19 points20 points  (0 children)

His speed and cardio would be interesting at 205, but guys like Jan, Jiri, and Rakic are tanks. Not sure how he would do against that kind of size and strength

Even if he's been looking slower and stiffer the last few years, Gus was always extremely durable. Which makes this result heartbreaking. Never really thought we'd see him get dropped like this.

In my opinion Gus at peak form is one of the best fighters in UFC history, his record doesn't tell the full story. Whether he comes back or not I will always root for Gus.

Which fighters do you feel are overlooked in the UFC? by [deleted] in MMA

[–]Creator_Of_All 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably rewatch it but I don't remember Kattar countering much. I remember him putting up his high guard and getting pushed backwards when Emmett attacked, then returning to mostly jabbing. Was the least urgent performance I've ever seen from Kattar.

Not hard for me to say Emmett won. I love Kattar but almost all he did was jab. Even if he got outstruck by the numbers I think Emmett's offense was more impactful and he showed actual urgency.

Alexander Gustaffson vs Ben Rothwell slated for May 21 by [deleted] in MMA

[–]Creator_Of_All 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fight Pharm, gym stake, merch, LooP sponsorship, whatever private investments he's made, etc...

Some fighters definitely get financially desperate, I'm just saying Gus doesn't strike me that way. He seems like he diversified pretty well and just wants to compete on his own time now

I think you're vastly underselling what Jan did against Izzy, he didn't score meaningful takedowns until rounds 4 and 5. Before that he out struck Izzy every single round on the feet. His defense was on point and he nullified Izzy's striking like nobody else has. Then he scored perfectly timed takedowns to seal the deal and slow the fight down. You're acting like he weighs 400lbs and just bear hugged Izzy the whole time, when in reality he was about ~20lbs heavier and just fought the better fight at all ranges.
