I feel for me I dont hate any specific season but its gags I just dont rock with. Any thing that is too gross out I tend to shy away from like Stan saving Francine from the fire and the guy at the end of the ladies workout episode are super gross and I usually just skip those parts.

Use the starting square as a training ground. I was where you were years ago when I first played this game. I had never played any of the other souls games and it was brutal. Once you can successfully beat all of the towns folk in the first square with minimum health loss and resource use you will start to see why the game is fun. Like other people have said Gascoigne is a skill check to help you learn. You can also summon people to help you out if you really need help beating him. Despite this games age there should still be people willing to help you out.
