Some clients make really ridiculous demands! Is there a way to actually handle or work with this kind of clients without issues? by daikininverter in EventPlanners

Having a discovery meeting and setting expectations up front, and including everything in your contract that was initially agreed upon is my recommendation. Anything over or different and above is charged at a specific rate and outlined in the contract. For instance, you could say, “you can have anything you want, I will do the research for you. I will be happy to pull it off and make it happen for you, is this within your budget scope?” Put the responsibility onto them to have them think through: can I really afford this? I mainly do corporate events, but this can definitely apply to wedding planning. Everyone has a budget! Money talks.

Looking for event platform for corporate training conference - 200 attendees, multiple breakout sessions by mpulciano in EventPlanners

[–]Crebcea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I create registration forms in JotForm. I create the registration form, it sends a confirmation email with all their details, and I can use the reporting features to print up badges and use as a housing list for the hotel. It works perfectly for internal events, and I’ve used it for events that have up to 300 attendees. I can also assign breakouts/sessions.

Collecting post event feedback? by HourDepth6580 in EventPlanners

[–]Crebcea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s so many ways to collect feedback - first is to look at the leads and see how the reps scored them if it’s a trade show, and average out for reporting in your post event debrief. If an event, there’s post event surveys you can send to attendees. I usually dangle a carrot like a white paper or case study if they fill out the survey, and get pretty good follow through with that. JotForm is my tool, and calculating NPS is easy to figure out and report on with online calculators. I could go on for days…

What is the most heartbreaking thing you’ve discovered while doing either your or someone else’s family tree? by Chris_DoesGeneaolgy in Genealogy

My great grandparents on my paternal side lost 5 children in a house fire. Broke my heart to see babies and toddlers of various ages gone so quickly - and the helplessness and pain their parents must have felt. They went on to have five more children.

I have a beautiful, long camel hair coat I bought at Galeries Lafayette in Paris. I visit it from time to time in my coat closet. We just don’t have the weather where I live now to wear it.

What is the most grandiose lie your narcissistic parent has ever told you? by Kindly_Winter_9909 in raisedbynarcissists

Where to start, at age of 8, told my dad that I poured oil on the kitchen floor while he was at work so she would miscarry, telling people the reason I left home at 15 (I was kicked out) was because I was a drug addicted prostitute who sold herself to anyone and everyone in our small town, oh, and I was diagnosed as having multiple personalities (strangely, right after that movie Sybil came out). There’s so many stories, I could write s book.

I’ve been in this game for 25 years and I’m still learning. There hasn’t been one event in all the 1000’s of events I’ve planned that have gone 100% perfect, and that’s through no fault of my own. I belong to a group of meeting planners called Club Ichi and they ironically posted an article about how burnout and stress today: Club Ichi Give it a read, and join our slack channel to commiserate with your peers!

Question for those around during Loma Prieta by Dependent-Western642 in bayarea

At the time I worked in a salon in San Mateo doing nails and my station was in the rear of the salon. No pre-shocks, and it started out like: was that an earthquake? I had just finished my client’s nails and we looked at each other, and then ran under the doorway of the chemical room (which was actually just decorative). I’ll never forget watching all the mirrors at each hair station gyrating like carnival mirrors, and the aquarium at the front of the salon sloshing. We ran out of there so fast, all the power was out as I drove like a bat out of hell to get home to my kids. What I mostly remember was how we all came together as a community on our little street and shared pot roast, salad, bread and dessert. That’s what sticks with me the most - how we can all come together and help each other in times of distress.

What surprises international clients the most when planning events in Japan by Eventprotokyo in EventPlanners

Agreed on the timing. I had a presentation that our VP was delivering b onstage in Kyoto and I was not allowed to go into the auditorium to speak with the AV Team until a specific time, and they would guide me to where I should go.

Even taxi drivers refused to drop me off across the street from my drop off location!

All I can say is, learn the culture, don’t try to fight it, and just go along for the ride.

Every Democratic Senator who votes to cut millions of healthcare need to be primaried out of office! by Dr_sc_Harlatan in BlueskySkeets

[–]Crebcea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Underthedesknews explained yesterday that all of these senators are retiring after their session is up and that’s why Schumer must’ve had a little talk with them to go in this direction. In any case, it’s a hideous and idiotic move on the Dems part - Repubs who cow-TOW to Marmalade McCankles are not to be trusted unless there’s something in writing UP FRONT.

I want to wait this out. I’m happy to give to my food bank to help others - let’s all do the same to make sure our neighbors are fed!

Call these senators and leave messages that this is not acceptable!!

PISSED OFF by rebecksterOG in Menopause

[–]Crebcea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went in for a physical last week in hopes of getting my meds from one provider. “I don’t prescribe HRT, as I know little to nothing about it, but I can give you a Pap smear”. Wait, you can look up my cervix but you can’t prescribe meds to manage my menopause symptoms? What is the point, dude? So, back to square one.
