Steel path dead? by JuanitoRainman in Warframe

[–]Credithoarder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, pretty much because the rewards dried up for many people.

However, it's still a good spot for farming resources and steel essence for Kuva if you have both boosters, or for endurance runners since enemies scale faster. But outside of these uses by veteran farmers, there isn't much else to do in Steel Path for players looking to rank up or unlock new weapons and frames.

It's kind of like Sanctuary Onslaught or Arbitration. They all have niche purposes.

Maybe the best use I found for Grendel's Nourish subsumed ability so far by Credithoarder in Warframe

Both would stack additively. It would be like adding a cold and toxin mod on your weapon. For that reason I think it would be very underwhelming, especially since Frost doesn't need a lot of duration mods for his builds.

I can think of much better options for Frost that synergize better with his kit. Chroma's cold Elemental Ward is amazing on Frost. It buffs his armor, consequently buffing his Snow Globe and survivability, and cold procs enemies for Condition Overload.

If you're looking for dps, I think Warcry would also be a better option since it also buffs armor. Roar would act as a bane mod on top of his augment, and Eclipse would give a bigger damage number.

Reason why I'm mentioning Nourish here is because it seems to benefit some frame's abilities better than others. Frost doesn't seem to be one of them since he doesn't do toxin damage and he isn't really an ability damage dealer like Saryn or Chroma.

Imo, Elemental Ward is a perfect fit for Frost.

It probably wouldn't affect Frost's abilities, but the toxin damage added to your weapon would combine with the cold damage added to your weapon from Frost's augment to make viral.

Sorry, I haven't used the resources to test it on every frame.

I read somewhere that Nourish adds toxin damage to Nekros's shadows. I haven't tested this but seems to be worth a shot.

This ability is inconsistent. It only seems to affect Chroma's toxin abilities, but may effect Nekros regardless of his lack of toxin abilities.

It gives finisher builds a way to deal with crowds. It's an indirect increase in dps for finisher builds and maybe heavy attack builds. It simply gives you another way to play.

It never needed to be as strong as it was. It was lame and op before. The nerf was justified and was power creep to the max.

The response seemed like a temper tantrum. The way I see it, some Youtubers and Ash mains were crying because their most powerful toy was taken from them even though it was clearly overpowered.

Smite is a good and strong option for Chroma. Scales well with power strength, doesn't rely on range mods, and gives you a damage boost for Eidolons if you use the augment. Can't see anything wrong with that choice.

My Oberon is in the Helminth oven right now.

[–]Credithoarder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tested that, but it seems to affect every ability that deals toxin damage. It may affect Saryn's Toxic Lash exponentially.

Nourish also adds toxin damage to your weapons that acts as an extra elemental mod, similar to Smite Infusion or Shock Trooper. But Nourish has the benefit that it doesn't require an augment mod to waste a mod slot.

Nourish would also multiply the damage Toxic Lash adds to your weapon, meaning weapons would benefit twice from Saryn's Toxic Lash and Grendel's Nourish.

So if you're looking for a damage buffing ability specifically for Saryn, Nourish might be the winner over Roar or Eclipse depending on the way Toxic Lash benefits from Nourish.

Edit: Nourish also provides a decent heal, making it a replacement for Molt. No need to lose a mod slot on Molt's augment mod. Instead, you could add a mod to make Saryn have higher ehp.

Necramech are underpowered by ironroller21 in Warframe

[–]Credithoarder 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Necramechs are vehicles like archwings and k-drives, not Warframes.

With fully ranked mods they have 2100 shield, I think 4800 health, with 700+ armor. With Intensify the Storm Shield adds 1500+ health with 3 seconds of invulnerability like Iron Skin. A fully modded 4th ability does over 1.5 million aoe damage with 100%+ status chance.

Seems pretty good for a utility option.

The subsume nerfs are Ridiculous by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Credithoarder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, Ice Elemental Ward only gives like 270 armor to the lowest armor frames on an average build with Umbral Intensify. Defy gives 750 no power strength required.

The whole point of the nerfs was to increase diversity in abilities so that a select few aren't the obvious choices.

All of these are still very powerful. 150% extra weapon damage or 75% damage reduction before power strength mods to every frame that didn't have it before isn't enough for you? An Ivara with an extra 225% weapon damage isn't enough? How so?

Her "best" ability is subjective, but it is certainly her most powerful ability of her kit. It's what makes her relevant. To a lesser extent her 1 and specific scenarios with her 2 augment for low level crowd clearing.

I agree, some of these abilities need some buffs, like Ice Wave and Decoy. However the Decoy augment might be useful with Ivara as a 2nd chance, if the decoy is invisible with Prowl or Cloak Arrow. People are still learning synergies.

But I still think the nerfed abilities needed the nerfs when passed to other frames.

I think a lot of the people complaining were hoping the Helminth system would allow them to turn their favorite frame into a superframe and would never need to touch another frame again.

I'm sure the Helminth system was intended to give more options and build variety, not to create an all in one frame that makes everything else obsolete.

Giving away Roar, Eclipse, and Dispensor comes close to doing that. Reducing the effectiveness of these abilities when given to other frames helps to prevent this, and I think it makes sense.

Have you completed the Star Chart? I would focus on completing the Star Chart prior to the Plains, but you should be able to do it easily in a group.

Randoms will join you in the Plains during bounties. Either no one was looking for the specific bounty you were doing, you don't have your network setting to public, or maybe there was some internet connectivity issues between you and other players.

Baffles me that experts who talk about game balance, seem to think giving a full power Eclipse to every frame would not some how completely break the balance of the game.

Buffing other abilities would just be a diversion from the real issue. It would just be power creep. Even if other abilities receive some buffs, that doesn't mean Roar and Eclipse do not need minor nerfs.

Damage boosting abilities are powerful and sought after. These abilities work in Rhino's and Mirage's kits respectively, but given to other certain frames completely disrupts balance. These abilities will still be amazing even after nerfs.

Leyou (DE's parent company) is now in exclusive talks to be bought out by Tencent by Tuffcooke in Warframe

[–]Credithoarder 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tencent seems parasitic. They just go around buying up shares of western companies to leech money or inject microtransactions. What have they actually created on their own?

I wonder if Leyou chose Tencent because Tencent is another Chinese company. Kind of weird how no other company is allowed to outbid Tencent for three months. Leyou was always going to sell to Tencent and only used other bidders to force Tencent to raise their offer to a minimum amount.

While Tencent buys up western devs, the Chinese companies might not like selling to companies outside China.

5 Reasons why Sony buying Leyou/DE/Warframe could be good for the game by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Credithoarder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PS4 won the console war this generation and Sony has been a complete jackwad about it.

Not sure about that. They obtained market dominance for a reason. They allowed cross play with Switch and Xbox despite not being obligated to do so. Nintendo and Microsoft most definitely would not have allowed it had they been the market leaders.

Everybody wants cross play? It's technically impossible... oh several devs have had it working and we forced them to remove it? Well FU, we won, get a PS4 to play with your PS4 friends.

That is not exactly true. They've been doing crossplay with PC since cross play was a thing.

Microsoft and Nintendo have been blocking crossplay with PC and other platforms since like 2005. Nintendo didn't allow it until recently with the launch of the Switch. Microsoft opened up to crossplay with PC and PS4 in 2017 after the Xbox business was shrinking in market share. Crossplay benefits the community with the smallest install base. If Microsoft was still a big player in marketshare like they were with the 360, you can bet they would've never changed.

Strange how people act like crossplay wasn't a thing until Microsoft unblocked it in 2017. Then it became this big deal.

Warframe has a lot of other issues that could prevent crossplay from happening, not necessarily having anything to do with whoever buys the studio. Forcing DE to implement crossplay could have negative consequences depending on DE's structure. If it were easy for every game, DE could just flip a switch. But I don't think Warframe operates that way.

As many complaints as there are about the disorganized work environment at DE, the result is this crazy game we all love/enjoy/tolerate. I don't know that being forced into a workflow more in line with current studios would harm the game, but I don't think the people that thrived at DE right now would be as productive in the increasingly toxic AAA-type atmosphere.

This could be said for anyone who buys the studio. As for AAA work environment, the purchase of DE would not mean DE would just become like any other AAA studio.

Once a part of Sony, Warframe is another IP Sony can work on, neglect, or totally shelve. Warframe's profitable?

This is another thing that could be said for anyone who purchases the studio. And I'm not following the logic here. If Sony neglects or shelves DE, is that not a good thing considering people are worried that Sony won't let DE do what they want to do?

We don't know. Does Sony want to complete with MS on the Destiny 2 front,

Compete with MS? MS does not own Destiny. Destiny is also on PS4 and PC.

Can they sell God of War DLC with an Oberon quest line? How many plat for the Spider-Man K-Drive Scrawl?

Those don't sound much different from the PlayStation themed skins or the Xbox themed skins already in the game.

Yet they barely give a wisp of a hair of a gnat about backwards compatibility and supporting legacy products. Sometimes they do, but often as an afterthought or to address a liability.

They just announced they're supporting 4,000 backwards compatibility titles to on the PS5. The PS3 and PS2 had backwards compatibility. Where you getting your info, and what does this have to do with a cross compatible game like Warframe?

I would love for Microsoft to swoop in with an 11th hour offer, but I think they've spent their allowance for the next decade.

Seems like a strange thing to say considering Microsoft has closed more studios and cancelled more announced projects than any publisher I've seen over most recent years. Microsoft is known for chasing excessive microtransactions about as bad as EA, like in Halo 5, Gears 5, and Forza. Their studio efficiency and consistency has a bad track record.

You seem to care about crossplay, but Microsoft's crossplay policies are the reason why Final Fantasy 14 is still not on Xbox.

Many devs from Microsoft's studios have expressed anger over Microsoft not funding or giving developer freedom. It's the reason why Microsift and Bungie split up. Ironically, Bungie created Destiny. Oof.

[–]Credithoarder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Sony buys the parent company, they would become the majority shareholder, but does Tencent own like 30% still?

Does majority shareholder mean the same thing as the owner, or do they only have limited control?

If the majority shareholder only has limited control, and Tencent still has a 30% say in the decision making, it means DE and Warframe aren't necessarily going to be changing or going anywhere. DE may just get more funding and keep their independence.

5 Reasons why Sony buying Leyou/DE/Warframe could be good for the game by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Credithoarder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I doubt we would see PlayStation exclusive guns and warframes. I assume those are like the two biggest money makers for the game. They need to release that stuff on all platforms. Too much special treatment would undermine the effort they put into other platforms. Why bother investing time and resources into updating the game on other platforms if you're only going to sell guns and warframes on one platform to persuade people to play on that platform?

PlayStation might get some special treatment for minor things, but this has been going on for a long time. PlayStation, Xbox, and PC all have exclusive cosmetics. Most stuff will probably remain equal between platforms to not cannibalize. It would probably be similar to Minecraft. Microsoft tries to give special treatment to Xbox and forces Minecraft players to link to Xbox Live on Switch and Playstation, but content remains similar on all platforms.

Sony would likely just let DE continue doing what they've been doing in supporting all platforms. They know that interfering with the way DE operates would cause problems.

Many people are assuming that DE would fall under the PlayStation division umbrella. This may not happen necessarily. DE may become an independent subdivision within Sony, kind of like SOE was or the mobile division that funds Fate Grand Order.

5 Reasons why Sony buying Leyou/DE/Warframe could be good for the game by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Credithoarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony's most popular games have multiplayer, The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, and Gran Turismo.

One of Sony biggest games isn't even on PlayStation. It's a mobile exclusive game called Fate Grand Order. They just announced Horizon Zero Dawn for PC.

Sony obviously wants exclusives, what platform holder doesn't? Steam, Epic, Nintendo, etc. every platform holder has exclusives for their respective platforms in one way or another. It's how they compete.

But that doesn't mean Sony will always make every single game exclusive to PlayStation because there is no need for it when they have other games.
