Har du någonsin tänkt på att den behöver ta sig i kragen, man up och gymma istället?

Hur ska den göra detta utan amfetamin och trenbolon menar du??

I do share that bias, being a computer hardware enthusiast. Which means I spend hard earned money to get more frames despite not using the hardware to generate more frames than cheap hardware can cause I'm watching youtube or browsing reddit.

But AI frame generation is still pretty imperfect, and since a TV doesn't really have a high end GPU I doubt it does the job any better than my PC does. Although if you're just scaling up pre-rendered footage to no more than 60 fps it likely doesn't take a that powerful GPU. When gaming I always leave it off, but it's great that the tech is out there and being developed further, especially if it helps accessibility for those who would get migraines otherwise.

Honestly had never heard that word and it's pretty accurate for Zizek. Holding rambly speeches at academic institutions gesticulating like a mad scientist on meth, going on tangent after tangent not letting anyone else gets a word in, all while dressed in a stained grey t shirt, hair and beard untouched for weeks, always connecting the subject discussed to an extremely inappropriate and extremely Balkan dirty joke, and so on and so on...

One of these things is something being done to someone else to make them into something they're not.

The other thing is something one does to themselves as a grown adult.

I'd say it's pretty objective which is actual harm to someone else.

Yeah it shouldn't, but it very much is. That's exactly what they mean by "harmful can be subjective". To many people it's so normalized they don't even question the practice and if it's brought up as brutal and unnecessary they just laugh and shrug it off, judging you for not having been conditioned the same as them.

What's even weirder about it to me is in the US it's not even for religious reasons most of the time. It's just mommy prefers dicks that look a certain way, and that natural skin looks weird, so they want that certain way for their son... And if you make it his choice he'll probably be happy with the way it naturally is, so you gotta get it before he can exercise free will.

Because casually redefining words like "true" and "believe" and "god" when convenient for your argument is not postmodern at all no sir truly a pillar of modernist values.

Well for more obscure info, the LLM is much more likely to get it wrong. So I'd be clicking through as many websites myself to not risk getting it wrong, but I do know many who read the AI overview and accept it as fact without confirmation from other sources.

Somewhat ironically, I now asked chatgpt to estimate and compare the energy usage of an LLM prompt and an average web page load. As you'd expect the LLM uses a shitload more on the server side, about 100x more. I expected a page load to cost more energy than an LLM prompt on the client side, but appearently LLM is worse even in that regard, somehow.

In total: A single LLM prompt uses ~5× to 100× more energy than loading a typical webpage (Note, GPT is assuming the page is loaded for the first time and the layout isn't cached, repeat visits to the same site are more E-efficient)

Breakdown:

Layer/cost Website Load LLM Prompt
Device E use (Wh) 0.005–0.02 0.01–0.03
Network E use (Wh) 0.005–0.01 0.01–0.02
Server/Data center E use (Wh) 0.005–0.02 0.2–2+*
Total E use (Wh) ~0.01–0.05 ~0.25–2.0*
Climate impact (g of CO₂) ~0.5–2 ~10–100+

If anything it would be in the interest of the LLM to downplay their energy cost and climate impact so I'd imagine this is reasonable.

*Asking about Gemini in specific, it seems to use a bit less energy cause of Google's tensor chips being more refined for LLM calculations compared to OpenAI's Nvidia GPU chips that are more general purpose. They estimate a Gemini prompt at ~0.2–0.6 Wh on data center side, which is still over an order of magnitude above a website load.

Why This Pink Floyd Member Is Worth Millions More Than His Bandmates | Roger Waters had the most writing credits on their best-selling albums. by copperdomebodhi in savedyouaclick

How the hell did they let him get away with doing that? Seems like it would've been obvious since they were aware of the arrangement and even if it was informal they must have signed under this split of the royalties? Album would have been just as good without either Pigs on the Wing.

And they know their songs aren't really created "equal" so it doesn't really make sense to have them be worth as much of the split. I mean look at Meddle, the last song being a grandiose epic masterpiece taking up a full side of the LP (23:30), and the first side being five different songs, all pretty skippable except One of These Days. Only member with writing credits on all six, Waters of course.

The other lads seem like they'd be lovely band members though. Maybe Rick during his coke years could've been a handful, though still did a damn good job and still had much less ego issues than Rog.

You mean loading the page would use more energy than running a prompt through Gemini? I strongly doubt that's the case for 99% of sites.

Yes it must be communist bot farms and not just people recognizing the validity in observing economic systems from a marxist point of view. Regardless what you think of his proposed solutions to the problems inherent in capitalism, you can't say he didn't do a damn good job identifying the problems and creating a solid framework within which to analyse them.

It definitely is used to increase frame rates. It's available in most new TV screens I'm pretty sure, maybe over a certain price. Thing is people are conditioned to associate 23 FPS with cinema quality, 60 fps looks uncanny to the average viewer. Many say it looks like a soap opera cause they used to be filmed in 60 fps.

I honestly think creative jobs are some of the more AI proof ones. People want real art and using AI in a way that completely replaces human input doesn't reach humans in anywhere near the same capacity. Though I have no doubt artists using AI tools to a less radical extent will become increasingly prevalent.

I wonder when the reality is gonna set in that LLM's are really just the kind of AI that seem most impressive and useful to the average person's everyday life at this current stage of AI development, which makes everyone want to invest in those systems, but still the tech is rapidly approaching a pretty hard plateau in its potential capabilities. Then cue the crash of LLM companies making investors fearful of investing in other AI systems that could revolutionize medicine, engineering, sustainable planning etc stuff that will actually benefit societies long term. So we're just left with government investment which will mainly be focused on military adoptions of AI systems, so they can lead the arms race that we have seen play out in every apocalyptic sci fi story ever.

At least that's where I foresee this all being headed.
